That is true but the chassis and roof are the same, I don’t think the laws of physics differ in Japan. If anything less engine power would put less strain on the roof not more I think?

Thinking about it, is there any reason to think it would be different between a regular RX and a Harrier? the body and moon roof are identical and the weight isn’t significant enough to be affected much by engine power..

Actually I guess I could just swap front to back and not have to buy new tyres any time soon 😄

My goodyears have about 21000 miles on them, I just went out to check the tread with a gauge out of curiosity. The fronts have 3-4mm left, rears 7mm, which makes sense as I don't bother rotating. Maybe I'll replace the fronts with Michelins and see if I notice any difference.

I change the filters myself, oil at the garage every 3-5000 miles depending on how the car's been driven. If lots of long trips I push it out to 5000, but most of the year I tend to do short journeys so change the oil sooner.

Would love to know if anyone can compare these to the Goodyear Vector 4Seasons I have. I've always liked goodyear tyres and I started buying them because they were usually rated the quietest, haven't tried michelins though.

The ebay seller refunded me (without having to send the mat back). I've now ordered a new one from bootliners-uk.com. I called them first to check that there wouldn't be an issue if it didn't fit, they said they are made from a template for all Lexus vehicles so shouldn't be an issue.

I've sent them an email this morning, better to have something like this in writing!

Total opposite of me haha. I think mid-2000s is the sweet spot, anything much newer has too much expensive technology in it. But that said I've never bought a car newer than 2008 so maybe toyota/lexus would be ok.

I didn't really trust that they'd done all that properly so I planned to re-do it all. Also I did the second transmission service because it was much easier to get it done while I'm working from home than waiting until next year when I may not be.

An example of this is the common lore about not running the fuel tank too empty for fear of damaging the pump. I've heard from experienced mechanics that they don't tend to see this on toyotas much. Of course it could just be pure luck - I'll be avoiding overfilling in future!

Mine does according to that link I posted. It shows the canister for 2006-2008 ACU30 which is what mine is.

The part itself doesn't seem expensive (£135 ish), guessing it's the labour involved if you need to replace it that gets expensive.

Also, and I hesitate to say this given the OP's situation, but I probably wouldn't buy an automatic car with 150k on it if the transmission had never been serviced. Fingers crossed nothing bad will happen but at that mileage it's way past due.

Yep completely agree! The manufacturer only cares about the car making it past about 100k, and out of its warranty period. Beyond that they don't care.

I was blissfully enjoying my perceived charcoal-free car. Topped the tank up a bit after filling up earlier. Then out of curiosity googled the issue of them and was informed that all petrol cars after 1980 tend to have one. Then checked toylexparts again and found I do have one. Hope I haven't nuked it!
