Moonlight still needs a 6 hour cure time and cant get wet so its difficult this time of year. Personally I'd do a maintenance wash with a clay etc and use a very good sealant like the one I suggested or if you can keep it dry then a couple of layers of moonlight. Your options with ceramics are huge but I'd stick with ones from tac or gyeon as they are the market leaders. What used to be only available to professional detailers are now available to us and have become much more user friendly to use. There are so many options out there now for you to look at as the market has really come on leaps and bounds. Think the biggest issue you have right now is the weather and if you have a garage that you can work in, reason being most ceramics of any description need to be kept dry until cured. Is it a new car or just new to you? What car is it? I personally use Tac Systems Moonlight which would be classed as a light ceramic, but still has 25% si02 but is very easy to apply as it is oil based. It can be layered and would generally last 9-12 months. If I had garage space to apply I'd do 3 or 4 coats as it will really add to the thickness. I've found that unlike my Lexus which picked up stone chips my current car has hardly any and I'm putting that down to the ceramic. Obviously prep is key and this time of the year you may struggle getting anything ceramic based on due to them needing to cure, otherwise you will end up with water spotting. Gyeon Can Coat is another light ceramic and very easy to use but only 10% si02. The car will need to be clayed and IPA wipe down before application of any coating to aid it bonding correctly. If you are doing it inside a garage I'd recommend something like Carpro Essence as a polish as it will add massive gloss and is a primer for ceramics. Another option to maybe get you through winter would be Wowo's Crystal Sealant which is due to be released shortly as they have been relaunching the company. This is probably the strongest spray sealant outside of a ceramic and is multi use so can be used as a wheel sealant and also good on glass as a repellent. Think they relaunch on the 9th and I'm definitely getting more of this its brilliant stuff. This would easily see you through until spring time when the weather improves but as it's so strong it would need to be polished off. Sent from my SM-A505FN using Tapatalk -
With respect his answer was correct. Like any mot centre the testers dont always check things which is why things like lights get through, it has little to nothing to do with the kits. Those type r are little rocket ships and with the adjustable suspension also refined when needed. Son in law has the previous version and now I'm getting a bit older I couldn't deal with the hard ride. Did have a ep3 type r back in the day but couldn't go back to it now. There are so many spray sealants nowadays as such good prices and are so very easy to use I'd stick with that. Leather treatments from somewhere like colour lock are very effective for interiors and will reduce dye transfer. When I picked up my car they said they would do the guardx treatment as a gift, but little did they know I was just going straight home to remove it. Sent from my SM-A505FN using Tapatalk -

I wouldnt waste your money on paying for it as mentioned it's a very average product at £30 let alone what they are offering. Like most products it requires the correct preparation and dealerships are not the place to get that. For what they are charging as mentioned get it valeted or do it yourself, there are so many easy to use products now that offer very good protection for months. I would say be patient and aim for the best car overall rather than age. When I sold mine it was an 07 but had 41k on the clock, it had hardly been run in. Just check for the normal is250 issues like brakes and water pumps. And my personal thing is tyres, if someone has put cheap tyres on then that's a red flag for me. To be fair when I picked up my mazda, the generation that I brought were well known for bad paint on wheels. When I first went to see it both rear wheels had gone at under 3 years old, but they said mazda had stopped doing replacements under warranty, dealers had to sort it. So the massive quote you had was for pads and discs including fitting? Its normally labour costs that ramp brake pricing right up as they charge a fixed labour cost to them although it only takes a short amount of time. What was the actual cost of the parts? In all fairness certain wheel cleaners such as the highly concentrated ones at local car washes will ruin painted wheels not just diamond cut ones. There are so many people suffering with this issue even on wheels that have been coated in protective coatings although these can help. The issue is as mentioned above. Diamond cut alloys are not fit for purpose as all manufacturers suffer the same issue. You can only get them refurbished a couple of times at best so the best thing to do would be to get them powder coated or sprayed. Sent from my SM-A505FN using Tapatalk -

Coloured Car Wax or Coloured Polish?

Will be a polish. It's just full of coloured filler and is temporary at best. You would need to wax / sealant on it after but it would fail quickly. Best to just touch them up. Sent from my SM-A505FN using Tapatalk
