Lexus Hatfield phoned again the other day to tell me about another used car event 😒 never ending since I got that recall done & I said to the guy the same as above their is nothing in the current range to replace the GS & even the fwd ES interior is a step backwards.
Lexus=Japanese Merc.
Just a shame there is nothing really in the same class to replace the GS.
My father in law wants to buy a Freelander 2 I keep telling its built in Liverpool (Halewood) but he won't listen !
I had my alternator replaced on my old 57 plate GS300 with a OEM Denso unit & the guy said that the after-market ones were a but hit & miss.
I had a issue on my 13 plate 250 GS where the battery terminals were a bit leaky & not easy to clamp on with the negative so wasn't getting the amp draw which affected starting which all got sorted with a new battery.
Although I swear the price was about £10 more on the battery once the cold weather kicked in Eurocar parts pure cheek !
Great service today from Lexus Hatfield the work was carried out by 12pm & I was called to say the car was ready for collection & when I came to collect at 16:30 they had put in 20 litres of free fuel as a thank you from Toyota for any inconvenience.
They gave my car the once over & found no faults.
As the the loaner car is was great for what it was but made me appreciate my ML sound system when I got my car back.
Pretty quick & quiet I'm not sure why cvt gearboxes get so much hate it felt great to me & I could fit in our buggy easy so the mrs liked it too.
Was getting about 44mpg.
Maybe a GS450H face lift will be on the cards next or even a ES300H.
Dropped my car off this morning & got given a birds car not driving FWD in quite some time (10years+) & it was a bit wet out here & the wheels were slipping under power.
Still it was my first ever experience of a hybrid or electric vehicle.
I still see a lot more of these around (ES) compared to any GS from any year.
I had a look at one in the showroom at Hatfield last week & thought I could live with it interior & looks rise.
Been FWD it would go against some of my engineering beliefs.
After hearing nothing since March and starting to wonder if I would ever get a call back...
I was driving past Hatfield last Tuesday so called in & they said they had just had a delivery of the 65 of the parts (what a coincidence !) so its all booked in for 14th Aug.
They made me a nice coffee & said I could get a re-bodied Toyota Camry (ES300) as a courtesy car either way it will be some sort of hybrid which I've never driven before or a front wheeler for over 13 years now.
