RC F Brake Pads
iwonder replied to Soperman's topic in Lexus RC Owners Club / RC 200t / RC 300h Club
Haven't had as bad an experience with them as that but the pads/discs setup I bought from EBC were very noisy and created too much dust -

I test station that doesn't carry our repairs is the best option if you don't have a local garage you trust -
RC F Brake Pads
iwonder replied to Soperman's topic in Lexus RC Owners Club / RC 200t / RC 300h Club
Yeh I was just thinking from the viewpoint of a company that needs to meet the regulations and trying to save pennies from anywhere possible. A good insight into brakes though, didn't know about the different compounds as my cars have never required that much thought into brakes. I'm a big fan of TRW parts, never had issues with them whether is to be brakes or suspension. -
RC F Brake Pads
iwonder replied to Soperman's topic in Lexus RC Owners Club / RC 200t / RC 300h Club
Lexus or any manufacturer will set the standard as to what they want in terms of braking performance. Without them being packaged by a manufacturer, there is a possibility that the performance is 15% less that OEM based on the regulations that have to be met. If you have high performance brakes and you complain they are noisy or squeal in the cold. They tend to have another option of brake pad from the same manufacturer that has less braking performance but is still E marked, so meet the standards of being within 15%. The changes made will cure the noise but braking performance is reduced as a result. I have seen this done by a few manufacturers and I remember this applies to one of the F cars, possibly the RC or IS but I don't remember. This is based on parts sold in the UK so if your buying them from the US, the tolerance might be different and possibly the standard that they have to reach. I don't know the ins and outs of the regulations but I thought ill mention this as some aftermarket pads are shocking. If it was possible to use the worst brake pad available by a manufacturer (using the above as an example, 15% less than the best), you could potentially have an aftermarket pad that is 70% the quality of the original top performance pad by the manufacturer. Edit: If the brake pad supplier lists the part number then it would make sense that it is tested against that pad -
RC F Brake Pads

I doubt a significantly cheaper aftermarket brembo pads will be the same performance as the supplied brembo pads to Lexus. -
Air suspension known fault is a knocking noise from front but other than that, its a reliable setup in my experience and I see a lot of them. I personally prefer the shock/spring setup but the shocks do leak. As @rayaans mentioned, there are a lot of conventional setups on the road so may be skewed but I can only speak from my experience and tech I know and meet.

Recall for airbag
iwonder replied to ahmedali44's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
It's not due to recall unless the switch doesn't work, which would mean both seats don't work. The complete front and center console gets stripped, not the seats -

Looks great, what clay mitt do you use and does it marr the paint? -
Wrong and I never claimed RXs were fast, although quicker than the 250. It's just my opinion that a N/A V6 with performance figures like the 250 is slow. I rarely do 0-60 sprints but I do push hard when in gear and I find them under powered in that respect. Agreed it's not really its purpose but this thread was about racing a hatchback. I would of thought having an ISF, everything would feel slow to you

Buy own parts for Lexus dealer service
iwonder replied to Neil300H's topic in Lexus General Maintenance
As I said above. The workshop checklist says to replace. Edit: It will come down to what you expect as a customer. If i'm paying full price I wast the job done properly. "inspect and replace if necessary" is a copout, which can be seen under pollen filter. When is necessary to lexus? when the damage has been done? -
Buy own parts for Lexus dealer service
iwonder replied to Neil300H's topic in Lexus General Maintenance
Workshop checksheet says replace rear diff oil for full services so if you receive the lexus technicians checklist you should of had the diff oil replaced as part of the service. If you wanted to inspect the magnet on the drain bolt it would mean draining all the old oil anyway as other than that, you can only inspect the level from the fill bolt. It's another case of Lexus (Toyota are guilty of this too) giving customers one piece of info and main dealers another. -
They will be the same as brakes you have done in the past. Replace the slider guide bush and keep the shims for future use if you do not refit them as pagid tend to have one bonded the the pad. I would go for coated discs to prevent corrosion on no contact parts in the future. Spin the wheel before taking off caliper as the brakes can be applied even if the car is off.

You lost me at fuel injector cleaners are built by small companies. Seems like you took lots of different opinions and mixed them all together. Fuel cleaners work -

If the car hasn't had any hybrid health checks during service, it will be related to the fault being cleared. The diagnostic tester will give an indication of the last DTC clearance also. Would be interested to know the code they retrieve from it Good luck
