Sadly i think its time to leave the fold
Mr Vlad replied to Twellsie's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
It's weird me looking in the f part of this forum. Weird also how I'm looking at isf's. The thing about the white one is its a 5 seater. I've looked time to time at isf's and everyone has been a 4 seater. That's what puts me off them but there again putting a 3 seater seat in the back shouldn't be much of a problem. As for pricing your car Rich look on AT and ebay. Between £14 and £15k should be a good fair asking price considering the none standard upgrades on yours. Yeah it's a b*** er having to sell summat you love. Had to sell my RX450h for economic reasons. Best of luck selling yours. 👍 -
Hello Alan blimey the previous owner hardly put any mileage on that car. By no means are you foolhardy. A hybrid health check in a month with a service sounds normal to me. Sounds like you've got a really good car. Enjoy it 👍
-
Hi Hilary. What did you use to wipe the dash with? It seems strange that the engine died without you noticing. Silly question but is/was there petrol in the tank?
-
Hi. The number the my lexus site is asking for is Not the vin number. The site actually tells you where to find the number it requires. I think the number is the VARIANT. Only after inputting that number can you register the car and check its service history. The VARIANT number is on the V5 document so ask the seller of the car to supply you with it. If he's reluctant then be wary. I've not had problems with dealers giving me that number. Mind you someone on here rang their local dealer and stated he was the new owner and wanted to know the cars history. He got the information he wanted.

Eeeeeeh Castrol Magnatec. That's the oil I used in every car I had before I went to diesels in 2007. Never had issues with starting up in any weather conditions and never had engine problems either. Before I went on to Magnatec I used Duckhams Q which again no problems at all. To correct myself I used Q in the 1st 10 cars I had then I couldn't find it anywhere so moved to Magnatec.

Superb car you have now. I've had 2 is300h premium Premier (that's how the lexus dealers advertised them btw) models both exactly the same spec colour interior you name it even age but the 1st one I hated as it's handling was awful. 2nd was sublime. Loved it. Mine were Celestial Black. I'd still have that 2nd one but it had to go coz it was too small. Swapped it for a f sport RX450h. Yes I fully understand you miss the 250. Great it's new owner is delighted. Haha about you getting the 300h quick before the missus changed her mind lol. I bet she'll love the 300h. Enjoy it pal 👍

Wow Mike. Did you sell the car because of the delay in being able to set off? What have you got as a replacement out of interest?
-
Hi Mike. What do you call a while before your car moves? Have you had it looked at as it's been a few weeks since you posted this thread.
-
Out of interest what oil is it?
-
Blimey you two get a room 🤣

Your quote may well be good but RAC to me won't quote. It's All down to where you live. I've got 21 years ncd by the way.

Ok JDM. So it's to protect the key fob from scratches etc. Mmmmmm pity it'll only protect about 4/5ths of it. Personally speaking I think that fob look cheap and naff. As stated that top hole for button access is way too big. So you already have a Faraday box. That's good. I don't know many people who actually place their car keys somewhere else than their pockets. You and others may know far more who do. I wonder if you've considered a Faraday pouch to keep your car key in. I use one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08FT6YCQZ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share it's a great size and unnoticeable in my pocket.

Wow that's a great price for a 3x flush. Think I'll ask for similar after a chat at service time.
-
Jack. Did Cardiff do the flush 3 times off their own back as per a schedule or did you ask for it? What did they charge?

Oil catch can
Mr Vlad replied to johnbiker7's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Hi John. There's already been a few threads on here about oil catch cans. Some swear by them. Others don't. Some like me don't see the point when a car is serviced once a year after covering only 3k miles. To be honest I was actually looking into it and sought such cans but then dropped the idea like a stone. Main reason was the pipe to the PCV was firm stuck to it (I've got a new valve but can't get the old one off because of the pipe). I suppose if your car does say 10k miles a year or more then I'd seriously think about one. Mind you perhaps another remedy is the valve carbon sprays you can get like seafoam. I'm going to try that a few days before my car goes in for its yearly service. Search the forum for oil catch can threads. There are a few. -
I have to correct a My Bad. I mentioned about the Mondeo ecoboost having the aisin gearbox. Wrong. It was actually in the 2.2 diesel. I had such a car and when I enquired about a gearbox oil change Ford stated it was a sealed for life box and no service schedule on it. I insisted they do one as I couldn't believe a gearbox never needs an oil change. They eventually did do one but I think they only did a partial drain and refill. Anyway sorry for my previous duff Info. I blame being braindead after being on furlough too long. But as I've mentioned. I had a partial drain and refill on my car with its mileage at 78k miles. Now did I notice a difference after that drain and refill? Yes and for the better. That's why I'll be having it done yearly as my journeys are very short (2 miles one way) and once a week a circuit of the M60. Short trips aren't good for engines/gearboxes it's a given. That's why I'm on a service plan and my car will be treated once a year. My choice. I have to say tho this thread has almost turned into a war off words. Not good.

Hi Jesus and welcome to the best Lexus forum there is. Lovely car you have. What made you buy it? Are you a Rossi fan by any chance?
-
There's been quite a bit said on this forum re transmission oil change. Somewhat gentle arguments for and against. There are those who have the time and tools and space etc to do this drain and fill not just once but 3 or 4 times. Then there are those who don't have the time etc etc etc. Like I said earlier it's worth searching this forum for the threads related to this as one of them states a garage that does the Full drain with the proper vacuum equipment. How much is the Toyota garage quoting you Derek? A suggestion. Depending on how many miles a year you do then get the job done once a year. I do about 3k a year so I'll get the drain and fill done with its service. Oh. There are plenty on here whose cars have done 200k miles without a transmission fluid service. Interesting. But like I've pointed out in one of the threads. Our Aisin boxes can't be so different to the one fitted in the Ford Mondeo titanium x sport ecoboost. Ford state a gearbox oil change every 5 years or is it 3 I forget or 37.5k miles. Oh its an Aisin 6 speed auto in the Ford with a oh so similar model number.
-
Hi Derek. Your Lexus dealer Will do a transmission fluid service but you have to ask for it. You may have to almost argue the point. Stockport Lexus did my is250 and I think it cost 180 all in. Only about 2.5 litres was exchanged. However there is a thread on here about that oil change where its stated that there's a place in Chorley I think that will totally drain and refill at a good price. Personally I'm going to have the gear oil changed again on next service along with rear diff oil change.

Just bought 2008 GS450h, new to forum, new to Lexus.

Have to correct myself (I was thinking of something else at the time). The cost of the paint correction was actually £150. Still a ruddy excellent price. -

Lovely car Denis. I strongly suggest find a car body shop to de swirl and polish your car. Doing it yourself unless you have a DA will be so time consuming and you could do more damage than good. I took my is250 to a body shop I know as my car had thousands of scratches and swirls. £80 later over 90% gone and gleaming. Look in the 2nd gen is250 section and look for a thread titled 13yr old paint. That's my car. -
Hi Alan and welcome to the best Lexus forum. Go on the Lexus website and look there for a dealer near you. I'll take it you didn't get your car from a Lexus dealer? Whilst your on the Lexus website register your car. Look up My Lexus. What kind of service history does your car have? Did your car come with a Hybrid Health Check? This is part of a dealer service and gives a year warranty for the batteries. Did you do any research on the NX before you got it? Any questions you have about your car look within the NX section of this forum. You'll learn lots.
