Hi Rod. Actually you ask if anyone has upgraded from is250 to is300h. My lexus history started with an is300h premiere. Got rid after 5 weeks as I couldn't get to grips with the CVT. After a stint with an auto mondeo I got another is300h premiere and loved it. Driving on battery alone I managed a best of 3 miles. The battery in my opinion acts more like a boost to performance. I'm in a 2007 is250 SE-L and to me it's better than the 300h. So yours is on 101k miles? Hey its only just run in. Keep it coz I guarantee if you get rid of it you'll regret it.

Hi Brandon. Sad news about the LS. I'm surprised that the grom works well in your RX. Hope it carries on working. Your cars look good, I like black all my 4 lexus cars have been black. Enjoy your RX work horse, it should serve you well.

Hi Brandon and welcome to the best Lexus forum there is. Nice variety of Lexus cars you've had. I have to ask why you're fitting a grom unit to your RX? Really bad reviews and from folk on here with the grom. It's taken well over a year for one member to get it running 90% of how he wants it. But anyway we like to see pics of new members cars so snap away and post.

Lexus PHEV end of 2021 and full EV in 2022
Mr Vlad replied to DanD's topic in Lexus General Discussions
As above. Oh just to add something. I've seen quite a few video reviews on the MG5 EV. Yes I quite like the look of it but one particular review he did a 170 mile trip. 70 on the motorway 50 in roadworks and 30 off motorway because of road closures and he was himself because of range. He drove to a morrisons where the price of charging was high. On the way back he stuck to 60mph and had the heater off. No difference in range. Absolutely us 'normal' folk won't go electric as the infrastructure is growing But the cars that are affordable have a short range and by short I mean under 200 miles and they're not as practical as our current cars. -
Just for fellow owners interest. As it may or not be known I travel to Leeds from Rochdale to see the missus (long story). I'm in Leeds now and for the sake of interest I drove my car with the PWR button on and in 'manual ' mode where the gear was set to 4th. I kept the revs at 5 thousand and left it there whilst on the motorway. When I got off onto the M621 I floored it. Wow what a beautiful noise at a constant 7k revs. So sweet the car was loving it. Ooooops I looked at the speedo and thought I'd better throttle off. My car loved that trip as when I got out to listen to the engine it was purring like a kitten. Oh yes our engines love to be revved. Oh and as a side fuel economy didn't suffer.

Excellent video, surprised I've not seen that one yet. Yes electric car sales is a very small percentage of total car sales But its growing at a very very sharp rate. The number of charging stations is growing fast. I really like that MG5 EV estate. For the money it's ruddy outstanding. -
I seem to remember a thread or three regarding this button. The gist was that when it was used for the very first time then switched off the car ran differently and not quite the same as before. I don't think there were any underlying issues. Personally I think it's just a placebo effect. Yes the button at PWR does improve throttle response and is great for quick acceleration as it'll keep the revs higher fir longer which the car actually likes.

Lexus PHEV end of 2021 and full EV in 2022

Nice idea that Oxford super charging hub. Trouble is it'll be for the very latest versions of electric cars which can be charged within minutes not the cars that have been out 2,3, 4 years. Thing with electric cars although they are in essence really good but they're just not quite good enough yet to make one sell their petrol/diesel car for one. I've seen just today that video about the Nio ET7. It looks superb and the spec outstanding. Trouble is it'll be expensive. As for Lexus PHEV well they're really slow on the uptake but I suspect when they do eventually get those models out they'll be terrific. Then full electric the year after? I don't think so but withbthe advent of what's gonna come out of China then maybe but with help from the Chinese. -
Ls430 Recommended Mechanic Bolton/NW Area and oil cooler
Mr Vlad replied to TKhan430's topic in Lexus Owners Club Lounge
Hi Tariq. I suggest you look on the Lexus website and look for essential services. There you'll see service charges. You may well be surprised just how competitive the prices are. As for the oil cooler look on lexus direct to but one. As for fitting it get a quote from Lexus Bolton as a guide. Then compare to the nationals like halfords. -
Excellent post Danny. Glad your car is running as it should. Its amazing what a difference a faulty/dirty MAF sensor can make. This thread reminds me when I forgot to use the MAF back in when I cleaned it and the throttle body. Car ran like a dog.

As above 👍

Hi Tariq and welcome to the best Lexus forum there is. LS430 eh? Niiiiiiiiiiice. Bet you're looking forward to getting it. Don't forget to post some pics of it when you get it.

Hi James. Look on YouTube on how to change the light bulb to led on the side repeater. From memory it looks very easy. I'm not too sure if there is a seal. Maybe the plastic is cracked somewhere.

I've actually used it a couple of times now in the past 3.5 years. However when I bought it I used it quite a bit until I got fed up getting it out, setting everything up and putting it away again.

Hi Ed. Funny you mentioning hating gardening. I do too. I did over an hour of it before I did my car. I wash my car every weekend and I'll keep doing so but I'll use my trusty bucket 🪣 and mit 90% of the time. Like I said I doff my cap to those like you 👍

My 1st Lexus, question about Speed Camera data
Mr Vlad replied to ChrisCross's topic in New Members Area
Good point Peter. Every car over the last decade or more has had a speed limiter button/switch. Yes you're right you do and will have more control of your speed. My truck doesn't have one of those buttons hence I use cruise with my foot hovering the brake pedal. -
Well I thought I'd post how I washed my car today. For a good number of years I've had a Karcher power washer. The smallest one they do. More than good enough for a car. Anyway since I've had time on my hands I watched numerous videos on YouTube as you do lol. I eventually found one with a guy with the same karcher as me tho the latest version. So I ended up buying a new foam lance thing and some foam soap. Same as the guy. I also bought from halfords the posh looking TFR stuff. So I takes all the gear out to wash my car. Attach the expanding hose to the tap, plug the mains extension in thru the kitchen window, attach water hose, attach the karcher hose (the type I have is a ruddy pain, the new version looks ace), make up the TFR in one of those 2l pump bottles, make up the foam in my new lance. Thread the karcher pistol gun thru the garden fence. Blimey I thought to myself I could have washed the car by now with a bucket and mit. But anyway I sprayed the TFR, left it a few mins the hosed it off. Blimey I thought again this is soapy stuff. Then I foamed the car. Ruddy hell this foam is like shaving foam ( the guy in the video warned its thick and a pain to swill off the tarmac). Left that a few mins then I got my wooly hand mit and proceeded with warm water in a bucket to wash my car. In all the times I've washed any car of mine the wooly mit glided across the car wow I thought. After washing I emptied my foam lance and flushed it and poured a bit of auto glym shampoo conditioner and water then attached it to my pistol gun and sprayed the car. Then I rinsed the car off with just water thru the pistol and attachment. I dried it off with a large microfiber cloth. Doing all that (including putting everything away, took over an hour. Will I was my car like that again? I doubt it very much. I finished off by using Williams waterless wash. It's got carnauba wax in it and that's why I use it as a polish. Just thought I'd post this because I found it one helluva palaver. To those of you who do this I doff my cap to you. You must have the patience of a saint.

My 1st Lexus, question about Speed Camera data
Mr Vlad replied to ChrisCross's topic in New Members Area
Hi Herbie. Just noticed you have the fabulous RX450H. When I had mine I found it so easy to drive at 30 as it was just so relaxing. Don't be paranoid about glancing at your speedo every few seconds. In a 30 set your cruise control to 30. 40 in a 40 etc etc etc. I do that in my 7.5t truck. In my is250 I do the same. After getting done for 37 in a 30 in Bradford (camera at the bottom of a long downhill road, cash cow) and after the course that's what I do. Its my livelihood to keep my licence. -

Mr Vlad replied to ChrisCross's topic in New Members Area
@ Herbie. Thanks for posting that chart. I didn't know it was available. All I know is that in your case if you get caught say doing 35 in a 30 within the next 2-2.5 years you WILL be fined and points given. You won't get offered the course. Interesting the absence of the OP to this thread. Has he been scared off I wonder lol. Good banter tho on this thread, one of the best here.
