  1. I imagine that 2nd gen IS Did end up having a problem because the water went over its bonnet and hence into the air intake and quite possibly into the engine.
  2. Hi James and welcome to the best Lexus forum there is and to Lexus ownership. I strongly recommend you look in the RX section of the forum and post in there. You'll get all the answers from very knowledgeable owners there.
  3. Read my post above David
  4. You know what Mincey that's one helluva good point. Funny tons of negative reviews yet of all the gen 2 IS's I see 90% are 220d's. @Rich absolutely no offence taken pal your post is Bob on.
  5. I've not heard of that brand. Why are you asking? Have your calipers seized? Those at £150 can't be as bad as OEM ones. Let us know if you get them and if they're a direct swap.
  6. Hi Aaron and welcome to the best Lexus forum there is. What made you go for the 220d? Did you first search on the forum regarding the 220d? Yes the rear calipers have a tendency to seize because of poor service. That is Lexus don't service brake calipers. If your journeys are short why didn't you consider the is250? The Lexus diesels are not the best and lots on here have a multitude of problems. You should have took your mechanic with you when you went for your car, I'm sure he'd have put you off it. Lexus dealers as a whole are excellent. For parts and spares look up Lexus Direct. Genuine parts at discount prices.
  7. Yes it's a bummer when ones car is used as a toilet by birds. Steve you almost did well when you spotted the poop. You wiped it off with a wet microfiber cloth. The trick with poop is to soak a cloth/rag etc with water. Place that sodden cloth on the poop. Go have a coffee. Come back to your car and 99% chance when you gently wipe your cloth away from the spot there will be nothing left. The 1% chance of residue is always there but gentle to hard rubbing with very wet cloth will get rid of the 1%. Sounds to me when you used a polish you actually inadvertently sealed the residue. I'd suggest use a compound like ultimate compound to remove the polish and deal with the etched area.
  8. Reminds me of a James May video where the 12v battery in his model S was flat. It meant he couldn't start his car or get in it. Apparently pig of a job to get to the 12v battery when you can't open the front lid (bonnet)
  9. Excellent news Mat. So what was done to fix the issue? Totally agree with you 1.3k you'll never get another is250 without issues.
  10. Hi Nick. I got them last August. Fitted them very easily. Only issue was the passenger side cover. Couldn't get it back on so I ended up cutting off the 2 tangs and now the cover stays on no problem. The bulbs illuminate really well. Not dazzling but a really good bright light.
  11. That's fair enough Shahid. Enjoy both cars. No problems posting a photo of a none Lexus car.
  12. Hi Shahid and well done you for giving that advice to your father. Now it's your turn to take up your own advice and get a Lexus for yourself and your family of course. That's a great colour for the NX.
  13. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/T10-CAR-BULBS-LED-ERROR-FREE-CANBUS-XENON-WHITE-W5W-501-SIDE-LIGHT-BULB-24H-EUKA-/123785174411?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286 These are brilliant. Just be wary removing the rubber cover. Note where things are around it. The passenger side you'll have to remove the washer bottle fill tube, one bolt and it lifts straight up. Drivers side can be done without having to take air filter box off. Take your time and be methodical.
  14. The sidelight bulb is bayonet type. It's behind the rubber cover. Lots of YouTube videos on changing bulbs yes headlight but sidelight bulb is under that cover. I've got LED ones in mine. I'll post a link if I can find it.
  15. Welcome Martin to the best Lexus forum there is. Ok it's Saturday evening so we're assuming you now have your 2012 is250. What are your initial thoughts on it? What made you choose Lexus and especially the is250?
  16. Thought I'd just add this. My car is now on 82k miles. I'm the 2nd owner and its got a full lexus service history. On the cars 6th birthday and at 32k miles the spark plugs got changed. So those ugs have now done 50k miles. My car runs sweet. Just last week I drove to Leeds from Rochdale but in sport mode. Car stayed in 4th gear all the way. I even maxed it in 4th at 7k revs. My journeys are short in the week and I give it a run at weekends. Do I think my plugs need changing? No. Like I said my car is running sweet. Last service, last August, I asked for a price to do the plugs. £25 a plug. £125 for all 6 I said? Yes they said. When I go again this August I'll ask again and see if it's the same price. But my gist is plugs only need changing if there is a problem with ignition and running.
  17. What a damn fine video. Excellently done and most agreeable.
  18. Blimey. Personally I'd get hold of them cowboys and tell them of your stress caused by their negligence and get compensated c/o a free service and MOT.
  19. What a good way to spend a quarter hour 🙂. I have to say I'd love to know if either the RX or CT had any issues soon after. This video remi ded me of a thread some years ago. Can't remember if it was a RX or IS300h. The member here went through a similar pool of water but had major trouble very soon after. I think new traction batteries were installed.
  20. What the hell made that happen? No wonder it wasn't working. Was it an easy job to replace?
  21. Hi b4u2 that car looks really well looked after in my opinion. Certainly worth a look at. However I see you are in Greater Manchester and that car is in London. Definitely take a mechanic friend with you. As for the air suspension with the car only having 80's thousand miles I doubt there will be issues but I may need correcting.
  22. Yes Colin. My thoughts are anything plugged into the AUX socket will work fine and dandy. But trying to plug an up to date electronic device into an old tech unit will cause issues. I'm beginning to like the idea of having screen mirroring in my is250 and maybe I'll have another look at the Vaistech and go from there.
  23. Wow Rod 80mph and 39.1 mpg is outstanding. Deffo keep it. Yeah good idea to test drive a 300h as actually they are superb cars. I always got 50mpg out of mine but see what you think of how they drive etc. Since yours is mint then you have to keep it.
