  1. Good of you to let us know Piers. Funnily enough I had an appointment on Thursday for a check up. I actually saw, for the first time, the consultant and not his assistants. A really good chap. He wasn't happy that a blood test hadn't been done on me since 2019 and that a particular test, I think or was it a sample, wasn't done. He spoke about the cystoscopy results and confirmed a small blockage and about an operation to unblock the tube. I've refused the op as its not, or wasn't last time I looked into it, reliable. Ouch. Did you upset your wife somehow to make her retaliate by deliberately hitting every pothole on the way home? Sorry for the pun but that made me cringe a bit. Hope you're recovering well. Something eye opening my consultant said after asking of my coffee intake. After stating I drink about 1.75 litres of it a day he suggested I try decaf because the prostate doesn't like caffeine. So decaf I've changed too. Taking some time to get use to it however.
  2. Ahhhh I remember you 👍 can't understand why you've changed your name here though.
  3. Really? What was your other name so more can read up about it?
  4. How did you flush the gearbox? And welcome to the best Lexus forum there is by the way. Where in the world are you?
  5. Yes I can confirm that when I took my is250 to the dealer for a major service I insisted they did a gearbox oil change. They eventually did but what they did was just drop the sump plug and refill the same amount that came out. I was charged only £180 and for 2 litres of oil. Oh yes there are adamant arguments on flushing a gearbox and not flushing a gearbox. There are machines now that connect to the two oil lines for the gearbox. It pumps a detergent through the gearbox then replenishes it fully with new oil. I enquired about this from an auto gearbox specialist who uses this machine on Ferrari Aston Martin Range Rover Jaguar etc etc. If those High end cars don't suffer horrific failure after a flush and refill then the is250 won't either.
  6. Hi Sayed. OK. You've paid for a Major service not long ago And recently for the low pressure AC pipe to be replaced at a ridiculous cost. My advice is, as Linas has mentioned, find a garage that 'specialises ' in Air Con. Take your car there with the 'claimed' high pressure pipe fault. Do Not mention it however. Just ask them to do a gas refresh and test the pressure. One of two things will happen. 1 all fine and dandy, no leak found. 2 a leak is found. If they find a leak ask them to quote for a repair. Also ask if they would fit a part you provide (you'll get that from the places Linas recommended). Best wishes in an acceptable outcome.
  7. Jason. Look on YouTube for tutorials how to use techstream. Which cable do you have to connect the OBD port to your laptop? Can you supply a photo of it?
  8. Hi Grumi. I'd get a copy of Techstream as soon as possible. This is the best diagnostic program after what Lexus use. Once you have it scan the car and see what codes come up. Go from there. Maybe your mechanic has Techstream if not he should.
  9. Hello Jason and welcome to the best Lexus forum there is. You've bought a superb car by the way. A knocking noise under the bonnet. That's a bit vague. As for knocking noises whilst going over potholes that could be numerous things. Did you buy private or from a dealer? If dealer get them to sort that issue. As for steering wheel trying to move. How do you mean move? In and out or as in steering? If in and out then that could be standard. As for VCS you Really must get that looked into. Are you tech savvy? If so get a copy of Techstream. It's a diagnostic program which is the best one after what a Lexus dealer has. Perhaps bite the bullet and take the car to a Lexus dealer for a check up. I recommend you look in the GS section of the forum. There you'll find fellow owners only too happy to help.
  10. Yes it's a sorry fact the the owners of EV's are in a sorry state when it comes to insurance renewal. Many companies are refusing to cover. Think I'll stick with my petrol car 😁
  11. Blimey have the roads got worse in 2 years there in the land of North Wales? I did deliveries to schools there 3 times a week. Can't say I experienced bad traffic except for school run times of course.
  12. Well found Stephen. Ruddy excellent. Brought a smile to my face. I keep telling the young'uns I've been there done that and got the t-shirt lol. It's great being 61 going on 25 lol
  13. All the best Piers with your treatment. I forgot about this thread lol. My own situation now is that I very rarely get up in the night. Well my night is between 4pm and 10.45pm as I start work at midnight. I have 4 cups of coffee whilst I'm up. About 0.5 litre of juice and that's my lot liquid wise. My last drink of the day is around 12 noon. I take multi vitamins and cod liver vitamin d tablets. Any excess just gets peed out lol. My flow rate is acceptable and much better than a few years back. Not gushing but good. Only my first wee after getting up can be a bit more than a dribble but thats not often. Funnily enough I have a follow on appointment week on Wednesday at the urology department. It'll be interesting what the doc has to say.
  14. Hi Ian. If you've got a blow torch then use that on the area around the bolt. Also use a penetrating oil. Hopefully you have a long breaker bar also (all car owners need one). Yes get new bolts as they're cheap enough. Lube them when you put them back in. If you don't have any of the above then find a friendly garage to loosen the bolts only and re tighten enough for you to undo.
  15. I forgot to mention. Get yourself a copy of Techstream. There are good copies on ebay. This diagnostic program is 2nd best only to what Toyota/Lexus use.
  16. Hi Ryan and welcome to the best Lexus forum there is. I recommend you look in the IS gen 2 section of the forum. There's a shed load of threads on the 220d. I'd read the threads with EGR in the title before I did anything. A capped EGR can be a good thing but also bad. Read up before you do anything.

    Hi

Hello Clive and Ray and welcome to the best Lexus forum there is. You both have a superb vehicle. I've had the is300h and it was a stonker. Never got less than 50mpg in it and yes I drove it hard too more than I should. Get yourselves in the RC section of the forum. There you'll find fellow RC owners who'll be only to pleased to answer your queries. Out of interest. What made you go for a Lexus and especially the RC300h?
  18. I was watching Rip Of Britain last week. This particular programme asked why has car insurance gone up so much. They had a guy from the motor insurance body who came out with such rubbish for reasons on the increases. Reasons were: Cost of electricity. Maintainance. Other reasons too which I can't remember but those two reasons stuck. What a load of rollocks. Insurance price hikes happened sometime between January and July this year I think. The quote for my now dead is250 in January was £450. After my accident I searched for quotes on a replacement is250 in July. Cheapest was £735. I thought to myself expletive expletive. I wondered even if the writing off of my car had anything to do with the price hack but I doubt it. I'm dreading what my insurance will be next January. The thing also. Insurance underwriters are refusing point blank to insure EV's !!!!!!!
  19. I wouldn't dream of converting any car to electric. From memory a kit from that vintage voltage place is in excess of £30k and that's for a small battery and motor kit. For 30k one would be able to totally refurbish a V6 or V8 etc etc and still have change to run it's fuel bill for years.
  20. I use to watch vintage voltage as I was initially interested. However after a good few episodes I started to go off it. The attitude of the bloke 'moggy' in the programme started to grate me. He's just so blinkered in his 110% belief that electrifying classic cars is the way to go. The quality of work is 2nd to none I grant that. However the range of those conversions is shockingly low. Those who get the conversions done, to me, have much more money than sence.
  21. Mmmmmmmm. Looks like a thread that's gonna get shut down at sometime down the line lol.
  22. The ad states a 12 month MOT so it sounds like they'll get one done. RSR system. 2 former private owners. I personally can't see a private person having that car. I think the owners were business types with chauffeurs. Therefore a proper well cared for car.
  23. Hello Geoffrey and welcome to the best Lexus forum there is. Why do you need replacement headlights? Usually headlight faults are bulbs or the lenses have become dull or damaged. Which is your issue?
  24. Well that is a shame. Could you not let your son have lessons in the is250?
  25. Excellently put Bill. I agree 110%. My personal experience is that when I searched for quotes for another is250 the prices I was getting were nearly double to that I paid last year. Yes my is250 got written off and I have over 20 years NCB protection.
