  1. Now now johnatg. Only on poverty spec cars? Mine is the top of the range SE-L oh and it's on 17's. E if you're asking about the possibility of putting 16's on a is250 then just what kind of car are you actually looking for and what do you want from it?
  2. E10 has been in the pumps now at least 2 weeks. One morning last week I put almost a full tank of E10 in my none conforming is250 but I also put a double dose of Millers petrol ecomax. Now this Millers isn't a combatant of the extra ethanol, tho Millers do make an additive that does combat the extra ethanol, but I actually noticed my car running better and on a usual trip to Leeds and not sticking to speed limits my car returned as good as 39mpg as it can get. Now to why are our cars not suitable for E10. Well I've asked my dealer to no avail. Whilst there I asked one of the techs, he said all he could think of was the rubber fuel lines being of a different compound. Even looking on the Lexus website it suggests the best advice will come from your local Lexus dealer. Oh. My dealer hasn't had any notification of any sort from Lexus head office so my dealer knows as much as I do. Though I will phone on Monday and try to get a definitive answer to what's the difference between my 2007 car and a 2009 car? Oh to answer the topics question. No I'm Not switching to V Power. Tesco Momentum tho I've noticed it's price has gone up 1p every day last week (we fuel our trucks at tesco everyday that's how I know) and as of Friday it was 140.9p/litre against 138.9p for normal petrol. BP Shell charge far too much for fuel and there's no difference in it that we mere mortals can see.
  3. Hi again E. Although there are a number of is250's out there for sale not all are good. Since you say you've seen a good one then I'd say go for it and see if the ride is really so bad which I doubt it'll be. Look on ebay for used lexus wheels. There are always wheels on there and with tyres too.
  4. Hi E. All you have to make sure is that the Rolling Radius is the same. The aspect ratio of the tyres on the 18's will be a lower number than that on the 17's. There's no effort involved just a lot if money. Wheels tyres will easily come to over 600 quid.
  5. Well waited for Danny. Enjoy it. Re E10 in our none eligible cars. I asked a lexus tech when I took my car in for its service and MOT and he said its likely to be the fuel lines being if a different rubber compound. More Informative than the guy behind the service desk.
  6. The Bluetooth adapter I've had now in my car for over 6 months if not longer works flawlessly. Phone calls no problem and it uses the cars mic. Oh it's in the armrest my BT adapter.
  7. lol but what I can't get my head round is why does a bush have grease in it and protected by a rubber boot. I've looked at lots of videos and none show a bush with grease in it. Are those bushes roller bearings? I doubt it. But because the techie stated that its not a failure as no dirt can Ingress.
  8. Has anyone had to replace the rear hub on their is250? By hub I don't mean the part where the wheel studs are. I mean the big metal blob where all the suspension arms attach to. Reason I ask is I've got my car back from a service and MOT from Lexus Stockport and I've an advisory regarding the rubber boot being split on the lower bush. The lower bush is the one where the thick arm fits, the arm which the bottom of the suspension shocker fits. Looking on lexus parts direct that hub is over £500. I can't believe the whole hub has to be changed because of a split rubber boot on a bush. I've seen so called lower arm bushes on ebay but none seem to have a rubber boot. I'm contemplating getting a used hub as spending about £1200 for the sake of a small rubber boot seems absolutely unbelievable. I'd appreciate all Info from anyone who's been in the same boat. I'm even contemplating repairing the split with a rubber weld solution.
  9. Eh up Shahpor. Facts and figures eh? Sorry no. My current is250 I love more than the SUPERB RX450h f-sport I had and the 2nd of the 2 is300h premier which was SUPERB. I've had a UX250h for 24 hours and ruddy ell I loved it. So buddy I stick to the is250 until maybe one day I get an ISF or GSF or LC500 or the car of which there is only one of a RXF, yes a RX with the Lexus V8 in it. Now That's got to be the best car Lexus could make.
  10. No Shahpor the is250 is the best Lexus 😚
  11. Dublet that post is by far the BEST post I've read on any forum anywhere. You win the prize for best post 🙌🏆
  12. Nice one Alan I'd be the same lol. No problems Herbie we are All entitled to our opinions. No negativity towards you pal.
  13. That's rather harsh Herbie. I think it's the Chinese who a number of years ago banned couple having gmore than one child. This has gone on for a few years now but the crap that China puts into the earth's air is still massive and growing. Anyway I have a respect for that friend of yours with 16 grandkids. My wife is on 10 grandkids which makes me on 10 too. As for E10. I must have been in auto mode or something but I accidentally put a full tank of E10 in my (can't use it in) is250. Oh well I won't do it again. Oh on a run to Leeds my car returned 39 mpg. I thought wtf thought this stuff was naff. Usually I get 36 mpg. But I do use Millers petrol pro additive.
  14. Paul, did you get that mirror cover from your dealer or Lexus Parts Direct? LPD are about 25% cheaper and genuine parts colour matched and everything.
  15. Hi Umar. No you won't have to change your headunit though it will have to be removed to access the speaker wires so as to connect the line out converter. The Alpine sub is compact and has its own power amp on top of the box under an easy removable cover. Like I said previously Umar find a car hifi shop and get them to do it. They'll be able to do the job in just a couple of hours so overall it'll cost a couple hundred quid Including price of the sub. Plus you'd get a guarantee. Wow two other members having Quad Amos. I've had my 405-2 and 44 with Keff 102c (with a dedicated subwoofer designed and made by Wilmslow Audio) for easily 35 years. Not in use for a number of years till I moved into my current property so I roughly wired it all up and shocked myself and neighbours lol, forgot just how loud and clear it was.
  16. Hi Umar. First off find out just what you've got in your car. Colin has posted the 3 different systems for your car. Forget the rest he posted tho. Also ignore the use of a capacitor and a frequency cut off gizmo. Worst case scenario is you have the 6 speaker system. No problem. You Will need a line out to get the signal from the radio unit. This turns the output from the speaker wire to a phone out signal where you plug a phono lead from that then route it to the boot of your car to connect to the amp to power the sub. You'll also need a good wire from the battery positive routed to the boot (not forgetting a fuse just after the battery inline). You'll also need an earth, a good one. Then a sub speaker of your choice. Personally I thoroughly recommend the Alpine SW-815. It's only an enclosed 8" but by feck it blows 10 12 and 14" in to the weeds. Sounds complicated and it can be if you're not that way inclined to part strip your car to route wires and cables. I suggest you find a car hifi shop and get a quote. Some people don't rate the ML system. Unfortunately theirs must be duff. I'm on my 4th. 1st one was duff but the other 3 superb. Oh and in the 80's and early 90's I was a semi pro car hifi installer so I know what I'm talking about unlike others.
  17. Hi David and welcome. Lucky you with regards your sportcross. Seems you know what you're doing so keep an eye for posts in the gen 1 IS section which I'm sure you know about. Good of you to post pics.
  18. Hi Ahmed. You say you find the ML in your car lacking. I'm not overly surprised. I'm on my 4th Lexus with ML. The 1st was a is300h premiere. That ML was lacking. However my 2nd is300h premiere exactly the same spec year colour interior etc etc etc. But the ML in the 2nd was outstanding. 3rd and my present is250 ML outstanding. Now there are 2 maybe 3 scenarios. 1, how long have you had your car and has the ML been lacking from the date you got it. 2, has the ML become lacking over time whilst you've had the car? In what way is the ML lacking?
  19. Normal grease has been used in my families cars for the past 60 years with absolutely no adverse effects.
  20. Hi Paul. Yes it sounds like a dodgy battery connection. Take both connectors off, give them a good clean and the battery connection posts. Apply a light coating of grease and attach the wires back making sure they are fully 'home' and done up tight. If you haveca volt meter then you can check you alternator by measuring the voltage of your battery which should be around 12.5 volts. Start your car and have someone hild the revs at around 2 thousand revs and measure the battery voltage again. It should be about 14.5 volts. If it reads the same or close to when the engine is off then it looks like a duff alternator. Let us know how you get on.
  21. Eh up Tony looks like that car of yours is a proper corker. Best colour too in my opinion. Enjoy your beast. Look after it and it'll look after you. Re handbrake. Definitely use it for the reasons stated but basically it's an instinctive automatic function of the left leg. Oh more pics of it please, interior too
  22. Ruddy ell John lol. That's why English is the Hardest language to learn. As for using a A to Z for routing, I had numerous amounts of large paper clips where I'd clip pages together so that when that certain road ended on one page I'd simply turn to the next page via the paper clip where the road continued.
  23. Ahhh never thought about a generic reminder schedule thing. Nice one Colin 👍. Mike, I'm on a service plan so I don't know how much this major service costs and if it includes spark plugs. I'll have to ask about the plugs but something in the back of my head makes me think plugs are not included unless requested. Talking of my up coming service. Lexus Stockport phoned me about it. How good is that I thought. What surprised me tho is now they charge £15 for a curtacy car, cheeky gits as it was free last year. I'll query that with them.
  24. Hi Paul. Very interesting what you just posted. I bought my car last few days of last June 2020. Yes the service book was full of lexus stamps but what I did was to get from the log book the Varient number. Or was it Version. Anyway its the number required when you register a car on the Lexus website service history page. I did that and found all stamps were genuine and also found my car had 2 new brake calipers fitted a few years back and a new water pump too. It's a good idea to get the variant/version number from the selling dealer and get on the Lexus website and check the cars service history. If your happy then buy, if not then you know why not to. You can always unregister the car once all info gained.
  25. Ok OK don't shout at me for starting yet another thread on this very well documented subject. But this thread is different. Why? Well I'll tell you. Are you sitting comfy? I was in my car a day or 3 ago just playing with the satnav screen and pressing buttons I'd not pressed before. Now something really odd struck me when I pressed the maintainance button and lots of other buttons came up such as service intervals, battery service, etc etc but one I found I thought eh up why is that there. Automatic transmission fluid service. Now we all know it's not part of the cars servicing but if that's the case then why is it in the cars maintainance schedule on screen? And another thing. Since on that screen other service items are on why don't dealers actually input info within those categories. I will be asking Lexus Stockport when my car goes in for a major service next week.
