Hi Harry. I bought my is250 from him. He gave me the best px price on my them mondeo diesel. The Lexus was a one owner car with 95% full lexus service history. The car was fairly priced. It was a straight swap. However I bought last July when MOT'S had a 6 month extension. So basically the car had a mot. I took the car to Lexus Stockport for a service and MOT. They told me they'd Not mot it as they'd fail it on a weeping rear shock absorber. I phoned super one trader and told him and it would cost over £600. He wasn't interested and fobbed me off. Local trading standards weren't helpful either. My car I knew had a myriad of scratches too but that didn't bother me. My car cost me a further £650 for new shock absorbers and £200 I think probably less for a full body rub down to remove 95% of the scratches. My car is superb. I've actually put a review on them on auto trader but doubt it's showing. I'm not deliberately putting you off them. I'm telling you my personal experience. If he said he'd deliver for free that's unbelievable, cost for that would be a couple hundred quid But let him deliver and get a mechanically minded friend have a good look at it. Ask him for the Variant number (or it could be version number) from the cars logbook. Go on the Lexus website and register the car in the service section. Once registered you can see if the car actually does have a full lexus service history plus all work carried out on the car whilst in service. Sorry but I'm unwilling to see the car because I truly think I'd thump him.

To me Adrian Flux are a rip off insurance broker. For a span of 15 years their quotes for me were absurdly high, £3-400 dearer. On other forums I've been on a majority had similar stupid high quotes. Keep away from these rip off merchants. That's from me and thousands of Ford and Rover/MG owners.

Hi Ed and welcome to Lexus ownership and the best Lexus forum there is. Very good choice of car you've made. There's a section here for gen 1 IS cars which yours is. In there are tons of posts to read which are excellent and also there are a good number of very very knowledgeable folk on the gen 1 IS. As for a garage to use, what garage do you normally use and do you think they'll be able to do a cambelt charge?

John. Me thinks you went from almost one extreme to the other comparing g the price of a supermarket 'normal' fuel to a brand name super fuel. I now fill up at tesco. I now use their E5 super fuel which is 140.8p per litre. Their 'normal' fuel is 136.8p per litre (well it was on Tuesday when I went there? So that's quite a negligible difference as far as I'm concerned. The brand fuel stations charge much more for basically the same fuel.

Hi Russell and welcome to the best Lexus forum there is and to Lexus ownership. Is the NX going to be your first CVT car? Is your current car a manual or automatic gearbox? If manual then you'll be in for a weird sensation if you're mechanically minded. This is because to accelerate you feel like your revving the nuts off the engine. That's how I felt when I got my first hybrid after 35 years of manual cars. If you're in an auto car then it won't feel weird. Main difference is you'll learn to anticipate things more. When you see a red light ahead take foot of gas and let the car coast, whilst coasting it'll be charging the traction battery. Also when braking you'll learn to do gradual braking, this to charges the traction battery. These are the two main things to get the most out of the hybrid system. What made you go for a Lexus and in particular the NX?

Hi Oz. From what I recall I inadvertently put £50 of E10 in my car but as normal I added a shot of Millers Petrol ecomax. Can't say I noticed any difference at all.

Hi Lex and well done on your purchase. I think most if not all your questions have been answered. Re the boot. With the boot open look at the area where it locks into. You will see the metal retaining loop. Either side of that a plastic flap which is spring loaded. Check those plastic pieces and that there are two and when you press down on them they should spring back up. There has been 1 or 2 cases where one of the plastic pieces broke off and that caused a problem shutting the boot lid. Cure was to clear the space where the metal ring and plastic pieces are of debris and problem cured.

Well if you put 30 litres in your tank to top it off then it's not really a 5% increase overall. It'd be a 5% increase overall if you filled your tank from empty. So whether you'd notice a difference is quite negligible. You'll only see a difference, if at all, when you've used super unleaded about 4 fill ups where there's no trace of E10 fuel in the cars system. My is250 has no trace of E10 when I inadvertently put more than half a tank of the stuff in the other week. Apart from last week when I covered just shy of 600 miles and drove like a nutter I won't be able to tell a difference until a week or so.

Hi Ross. Welcome to the forum. Re error code 200. I know exactly what you're going through. I had that error numerous times whilst trying to post numerous photos on a post I did. What are you using to get on the forum site? Computer or tablet or mobile phone? I only use mobile phone and the photos I wanted to post were all in the same folder but half way through I kept getting error code 200. Not even contacting the forum owners cured it. How I finally did it was to WhatsApp the photos to my wife who then sent them back. Then I could post the photos. Absolutely stupid but that's technology for you. Going from a CT to the UX is a great move. Sorry buy I absolutely dislike the CT. I had one for a day as a courtesy car and just loathed every moment. Last year I had the UX and loved it. Told my lexus dealer if they offer me a CT next year then they can swivel and my car will go elsewhere for service. That's purely my opinion about the CT. Hope my method against code 200 helps.

Not necessarily. It's the Aspect Ratio that dictates rolling road diameter. Ok similar to what you posted but not wholly correct. Going bigger in tyre size means a Wider tyre too except in some cases where going bigger means a narrower one which is errrrr stupid. So Carl just why are you looking at lowering your car?

lol Neil. I don't know if you use a laptop/computer or a mobile phone or one of those ipad type things. Question is where are the photos of your car? Just for example I only use my mobile phone (oh I only pay 20 a month for unlimited calls etc but I get Spotify premium for free which wipes the floor with DAB+ in my opinion) so all my photos are in my phone. Below where you type you should notice on the left a paperclip. To it's right is Add Files. When you click that a Files folder appears. Click on that. From that find your photos and click on them to add them. Hope that makes sence. Oh John if you read this then oh ruddy hell yes have I been drinking, I'm on my 11th Southern Comfort. The 'toys' you mention are standard on the Premier (I may need correcting). My 62 plate f sport had just about everything but adaptive cruise and heated steering wheel. I really liked the 1st and 2nd gen VFR750's, nearly bought one back in the day but got the FJ1200 instead.

Hi Brian and welcome to the best Lexus forum there is. Your post reminds me of one very similar. RX v HRV. Think that guy went the latter, can't remember why but that thread is within the forum somewhere. With your screen name being VFR am I right to assume you've got either the 750 or 800? The HRV is a good car no doubt about it. However the RX is a ruddy superb car. Yes I've had one and loved every moment of ownership (only sold it for financial reasons) but I'm still in the Lexus family. As for reliability oh yes most definitely reliable, a sublime ride, picks up if needed too. One thing though have you driven a car with a CVT gearbox? If not I strongly recommend you find any RX or NX or is300h and test drive it. It's not like a normal auto gearbox where you hear gear changes. In the RX to put it bluntly you rev its nuts off till you reach your desired speed then let go of the gas pedal 90% to continue that speed. When I got my first Lexus I had to get rid because I couldn't get any head around the CVT. After ownership of an automatic (my 1st auto car ever) for a year to kind of get used to it so to speak I got another is300h and loved it to death. The CVT was actually really good and so smoooooooth and more so in the RX. Find one nearby, any one , and take it for a test drive. I'm sure you'll love it.

When I was chatting with the guys at my local halfords who all drive older cars and modified and experienced in all aspects of suspension they recommend I stay put with normal suspension as the majority of coilovers give a very harsh ride. Yes very few don't but they cost thousands. To change the springs is a doddle. From start to finish and by that I mean get tools out and Jack's and then when done put tools away it took me an hour to remove a strut replace the dust gaitor with a modified one and put strut back on the car. Only tool needed to buy was spring compressors. Yes members on here swear by coilovers but they want a stiff harsh ride and do drifts and doughnuts and there's nowt wrong with that.

If you're going to use E10 for a few fill ups then you're risking the parts that don't like it. Maybe do just the one fill up but get back to and stay on it E5 so the E10 gets thoroughly out of the cars fuel system.

Malc have you put your cars details in the government E10 search thing? I don't recall seeing LS models in it.

Hello Neil and finally welcome to the best Lexus forum there is. Your mods are an individual thing But where are the photos? We here like to see forum members cars. I'm surprised that the air filter and cabin filter looked like they'd never been changed as they are part of the major service from Lexus. This leads me to suspect all is not well with the full lexus service you say the car has. Anyway photos please.

Tesco momentum was 140.9p per litre last week. Don't know what it is now.
