  1. Hi Phil and welcome to Lexus ownership and the best Lexus forum there is. Wow from a F-pace to NX. Apart from the jag being too big for the missus what made you go for the NX? Good to know you're 'loving ' it so far but as stated above the longer you have it the more you will actually love it. Look in the NX section of the forum where you'll find All the info you could ever want.
  2. Dont think you'll get an answer as he's not been on since 2 days after posting. This k he took the huff with the 1st reply
  3. I've been using Millers additives for over 15 years. Either in diesel or petrol cars. Their EcoMax stuff. They do a E10 protection but it's expensive for what it is.
  4. Not confusing what you say Linas. Regarding the focus I had partially resprayed. The colour matched perfect. Quality of paint and lacquer top notch. As good if not better than factory. Yes I found one helluva top notch body shop where 'that'll do' just won't do. As for my is250 it'll never be perfect. It's owner from new just didn't look after how it was cleaned. Probably 99% through a roller brush car wash. Yes I can get it shiny but it's only shiny for a day or 2 but hey ho it's a great looking car and drives almost like new and sounds wonderful.
  5. Linas. That would depend totally where the paint job would take place. Where I took my car did a previous job on a Ford Focus I had. Its cour was Deep Impact Blue. A Deep metallic blue very difficult to match. Because of a dent near the filler cap the rear wing which part of it went to the front of the car, also the doors were flashed into. Also I had the black trim colour coded to the car. The car looked outstanding. Oh the quality of the paint was better than the original. What you say is basically and mostly correct but when you're wrong you are oh so wrong and jump the gun a bit.
  6. Mudflaps can be painted but only with a paint that when dry is flexible otherwise it'll crack and look awful. My cars paintwork was ruddy awful when I bought it. Absolutely covered in millions of scratches. I took it to a trusted body shop who spent a day polishing the car using numerous different compounds. £200 later my car was 95% perfect. To obtain the other 5% would mean a full body respray.
  7. Hi Jools. When you open the boot lid and look at the carpet along the rear of the boot, do you see 2 black plastic covers a few inches apart? Most bulbs are accessible from behind those plastic covers.
  8. Blimey Liam. Don't and I repeat Don't look in the car care detailing section of this forum. Your brain will get frazzled and you'll become a vegetable. Just joking, or an I?,. Look in the detailing section but be warned, far too many 'experts' have donated their knowledge. Personally I use my local car wash place then finish off with Williams no water car wash stuff. Car shines like a mirror. Cheap cheerful and it Works.
  9. Mmmmm when on a slope you leave it to hold itself? I'd get out of that habit as you're not doing the driveline any favours. Plus you're breaking the law as you are not in full control of your vehicle. Just imagine if some twerp slammed into you from behind, you'd shoot forward much more than If you had your foot on the brake. Can't think of why the revs fall on your car in the way they do.
  10. Hi Bernie. So you're saying when your car is warm and in Neutral your car idles at 700rpm and when you select drive revs fall to a few hundred? What does your car rev at from a cold start? When you drive your car and then come to a stop do you select neutral or stay in drive with foot on the brake pedal? How many miles on your car and when was the MAF sensor last cleaned and throttle body cleaned? How often is the engine oil changed? The 700rpm when warm is Normal whether in neutral or drive. Sounds like some sort of driveline snatch. Does your car lurch a bit when you select drive?
  11. Hi Don. Blimey my cap is definitely doffed to you. Well done fella 👏 👍 👌
  12. So your car is 15 years old and with only 76k miles I wouldn't be overly concerned about the gearbox oil. Browse the forum on this subject as there are a good few threads about the pros and cons of doing a oil service. Just know not All the oil will come out as you'd expect. At best just under 2 litres which is about 1/4 volume. Like I've said look on YouTube and browse this forum in the gen 2 is section.
  13. Hi Ian. Look on YouTube as there are a number of videos showing how to do a partially drain and refill and how to check the level. Basically under the gearbox housing there are 2 what look like drain plugs. One is drain the other is level. I forget which is which. Why are you wanting to check the level?
  14. Eh up John. So o lying last month your brake calipers exchanged and they didn't bother looking at the rest of the system. Absolutely disgraceful and a lack of care to the customer. By all means check that the extended warranty will pay for the brake lines to be changed and if not an independent for sure. Good luck with the warranty.
  15. So you got the brake calipers exchanged under warranty recently? Just how recently? Because I'd have thought they'd have seen the condition of the brake pipes and notified you then of their condition. Personally I don't trust any Lexus dealer to do a MOT. Take your car to an Independent garage, get them to get your car on a lift and have a look for yourself. Yes brake pipes go and look rusty but define rusty enough to be a MOT failure. That's where I don't trust Lexus. Example when I first got my car and got it to Lexus for service and MOT. They got back to me they'd Not MOT it as they'd fail it for a weeping rear shock absorber. I was surprised. Took it to Halfords and that weeping wasn't actually weeping. It was established oil residue and no weeping what so ever. Lexus just wanted me to pay Them for new shockers. No chance. Halfords did it. This year an advisory for what they said was a split suspension bush. No detrimental effects to operation of suspension by the way, no side to side excess movement etc.
  16. Hi Arnie. You'd best get on the American Lexus Owners forum. They have both the 250 and 350. Basically the difference is 100hp.
  17. Blimey Linas that's weird but as stated I'd suggest that since you filled the car up with premium fuel and with that fuel having detergents within its probably started a clean up of the fuel system but unfortunately its dislodged some crap hence blocking the fuel lines. Test this by seeing if any fuel comes out of a fuel line in the engine bay. Yes the system is pressurised but if it blocked then no pressure. Or since you paid next to nothing for it let Lexus take a look and sort. Even if they charge 2k you'll be quids in yes? Oh and welcome back to is250 ownership 👍
  18. How have you git your Bluetooth adapter connected? I've posted quite some time ago what I bought from ebay and can't fault it what so ever. Look on the forum for Bluetooth streaming. I suggest what you've got is just naff. Don't right off adapters. I think I spent a total of 20 quid. This is what mine looks like. I have ML and my Bluetooth streaming works perfectly.
  19. I recently filled up twice with Esso (forget what they call the E5 equivalent) and found it interesting. Why? Well for one I noticed the idle speed of the engine from first start up was higher than I'd seen before. But yes I noticed a better performance from my car. Economy? Well I'd say marginally better. I've also noticed how it's pricing at different area locations is rather surprising. 2p cheaper a litre at Cheetham Hill Manchester (yes I was born there and was passing through as I do now and then) than here in Rochdale. Back on Tesco's finest lol. Oh the joys of motoring nowadays.
  20. That looks more like a chrome piece missing not a cover for the headlight washer (they're on the bumper). Look for a breaker based in Oswaldtwistle near Accrington. I forget their name but they're mentioned on here a few times.
  21. It was empty and it was driven a little faster than the other traffic.
  22. Has anyone seen a Tesla hearse yet? As I was driving back to base on the M60 I got overtook by an outstanding looking hearse. I couldn't make out what car it was based on but when it got into the inside lane for the M66 I saw the badge on the back. Tesla. WOW. I've just seen there's a company doing these hearses.
  23. Out of Interest how many of you have received an email about the black Friday sale of buy one year and get one free membership? Why am I posting this? Because I'm getting peed off with these ruddy emails, every day for the past 5 days. Anyone else with a few emails on the same subject?
  24. They are actually a very good breakers yard for Lexus. You yourself have to take responsibility for making sure you ordered the correct part. No seller is responsible for return postage unless they specifically say so. Perhaps you were a tad blunt with them. I've personally bought a couple items from them but I drove to them to see the parts before partying with cash.
