IS250 No power but able to start by bypassing. Please help!
Mr Vlad replied to ak250's topic in Engine & Transmission
Excellent outcome and thanks for the update. It may well help someone. -
I agree with David and you Malc. If I had the option of buying another car one ICE the other EV and both the same price I'd actually go ICE even tho an EV makes perfect sense for me. Its the charging. To install a home charger at my home would cost a good few thousand quid. Wiring one in would be a doddle but it's the work involved in placing the charger as it would be at the bottom of my garden as my car driveway is there. Anyway as I've said previously I want to keep my is250 for as long as possible (unless I win a fair bit of wonga then I'd get RCF).

I just got a message link sharing not allowed. Looks like that link is capputt.

OXIDATION
Mr Vlad replied to runsgrateasanut's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
I'd personally say how you left it was the best way. If you stored it in a sealed unheated garage then your car would look a helluva lot worse. If left in a heated garage then that's the very best way to store a car. But because your car actually could breath and have a draught of air circulating around it then any moisture that gathered on it would evaporate. However some metals suffer more than others so there's bound to be some oxidation on porous metals such as rocker covers. Your car has come out very well after 14 months stood still. Shouldn't take long at all to clean her up. -
WHAT? Batteries of no good after 3 years? Then there's definitely a problem with those cars. There are EV cars here 10 and 12 years old and still going on with between 50 and 80 %

New exhaust needed

Look forward to your update. Excellent of you to post those prices 👏 👍 👌 -
There were issues with cars which covered 100k miles without the gearbox oil change. Gearbox was goosed and a good few grand to replace. Much more than a placebo effect. You could tell by the feel of the oil used compared to new. And yes I've had 3x titanium x sport mondeos. By far best car in class.
-
Beautiful looking car especially in that gorgeous red. Quite lexusy looking.
-
Well there you go, two fine examples of very high mileage cars with auto gearboxes never missing a beat and never having the boxes oil changed. There will be countless thousands more similar experiences. However there will also be countless thousands of folk whose auto gearboxes failed because the oil packed in. Also a major contribution to gearboxes failing is how they're used, too short journeys and too long journeys etc etc. Also batches of oil that was put in from new not all being the same standard. There are many variables. Personally I will be getting the gearbox on my is250 fully serviced via the cat 501s machine. Why? For peace of mind. I don't believe there is an oil to last the lifetime of a gearbox. Example. The most excellent Ford Mondeo Titanium X Sport 2.0 ecoboost. That car is an auto box car and Ford state an oil change every 37.5k miles or 5 years which ever comes first. I witnessed the oil change and was surprised how much the oil had deteriorated compared to new oil.
-
There's been a number of members here say just that, there's also a number of members who disagree. If that pressure system unclogs debris then it definitely gets flushed out. If not then the specialist auto box garages would be sued to the moon and back and be out of business. Have you yourself had experience of this then? Then all I can say it was done wrong.

IS250 - New beginning (bit of an ongoing "project")
Mr Vlad replied to H3XME's topic in Modifications & Tuning
Yeah there seems to be a helluva lot of items now not being shipped to the UK from America. Oh that lip looks really good, well done on fitting it 👏 👍 -
Why do you say don't flush? The CAT 501S machine first Injects a cleaning/flushing agent it then circulates new oil for old until a window in the machine shows clean oil. After that the gearbox sump is dropped, new filter installed, sump replaced and system topped up. An auto gearbox specialist with Lexus knowledge gave me a quote of, are you sat down? £500 all in. Ruddy good value I'd say. Oh this auto box place does all the top cars rollers porschs (can't spell that lol) jags astons etc etc.

Oh dear. The last time I drank a whole bottle of Southern was Boxing day 2010. Funnily I woke the next day fresh as a daisy, surprised the family. Nowadays four tripples and I'm fished as a part.

I'm sure someone on here had the same issue a few years ago. I can't remember the outcome. I suggest spend some time searching the forum. In the meantime I'd put a hefty fuse at the battery end of that wire. -
Peter about the other half being vodka, that made me laugh 😃 nice one. It's not vodka is Southern Comfort lol.

You may or may not know I half of the blood running through my body is Ukrainian (thank you mother 🙏 😘). I'm not going to comment on what's going on in the Ukraine because I just won't and any negative comments will incur a wroth from me which will definitely get me banned from the forum. Anyway below is something absolutely spot on

Hail Toyoda San 👍 Best thing you've posted toffee pie Oh availability of a reliable V6 2nd hand or more in 2030? Loads of them. I'll probably still have mine then. By then mine will have done just over 100k miles.
-
For crying out loud what a load of sheeyte is being sprouted. 2030 the SALE of NEW cars is due to be banned, however this may change. In 2030 I will be able to buy a 2025 petrol car of my choice NO PROBLEM. Get your e f f i n facts right toffee pie. Jeez there's some folk on forums who know jack**** for fact and miss read facts. Sorry if I upset you normal folk. 🍻

Regarding EV's. I don't think they'll be forced on anyone. They can't be forced because we are in a democracy. The only way EV's can be forced on us is if we live in a system were we are dictated in All aspects of life. Not even Chinese people are forced to drive an EV. The only vehicle that I can think of are those micro sized cars. Me? I won't be forced to have an EV and I'm not the only one I'm sure. As in another thread I think this one has been infiltrate by a troll.

Disregarding what's going on in my mother's homeland prices of not just petrol have gone up on just about everything and it's been going up for over 6 months. I've noticed the cost of living going up steadily this past year even. But definitely prices of gas and wheat will rocket up soon enough I think.

So amp in the boot that's good, you should see which wires are the speaker ones you might have to Google which wires are which and swap them over just to check the amp. If it's amp then it'll be easy to swap though wiring it might fox you but a wiring diagram would be useful.
-
I'm not sure which wires are for the speakers. Best to pull the headunit out, watch YouTube videos on this before you try. But before you try that, have you played about with the tone buttons? Try turning up the bass. Also there's a product (name of it escapes me) which looks like a bowler hat but made of a certain foam. It acts like a box and it does give a good bass. You could also put some sound deadening stuff on the door panels.
-
Hi Joel. How lo g have you had this car, if its a good while has the sound deteriorated over time or been naff since you got the car? On the rear doors, how many grills can you see on each door panel? If you say the front sounds good but rear naff then it's probably the speakers themselves. To test if it's the amp try swapping over the speaker wires from front to rear. If the fro t then sounds naff then it's the amp. If the front still sounds good then you know it's the rear speakers. Your car won't have a sub btw. There are lots of ways to improve the sound in your car, best to find a car hifi shop for Info and advice.

Just to correct insurance coverage of after market car hifi. I'd assume its the same today as it was in the 80's and 90's when I did semi pro installs. Those systems cost on average 2.5k and insurance companies were informed and a premium would be added to the quote to cover the installation. Receipts for equipment would have been supplied to the insurance company along with photos of Installation. There were never issues when a theft claim was submitted. Claims were paid. I was one of the unfortunate ones who had a car stolen with a big install in. I got car value back and installation cost back.
