LPG
Mr Vlad replied to markeyszoo's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
I guess it can. I know for sure the RX350 can. Google an LPG fitter and ask them for sure. -
I suggest you look at both the internal fuse boxes in the car. There's one on each side. Start at the passenger side, crouch down so you look up under the glove box. You should see a white cover about 2 1/2 by 4 inch in size. If you don't see a white cover but you see fuses then your dash cam has been hardwired in that fuse box. (The cover will not go back onto the fuse box when a piggyback fuse holder is used). Using your owners manual find the page with the fuses showing which is which and does what. I can't remember which fuse I've used in my 322GW. Am I right in assuming your car doesn't have satnav built in?

What was/is your favourite British Police Car?
Mr Vlad replied to superatticman's topic in Lexus Owners Club Lounge
Excellent post David. And that's just how the police used to speak. Oh and it's the SD1 for me. My 3rd car was the vanden plas V8 (got gazumped on a vitesse which I wanted). Superb car. More than big enough inside for 5 comfortably. -
Because your car is a diesel I'll tell you of my experience with a K&N filter and airbox on a Ford focus 1.6 diesel I had. The only difference it made was to the intake noise. The airbox I bought had a removable plug to make it even louder. Only tolerated it for a few weeks. Save your money and buy genuine.

That link Mark is pure comic. You haven't read this thread properly. There are far too many 'experts' in forums and they get their info from either google or other forums. To repeat myself. I've spoken with a good number of transmission specialists. They agree to change gearbox oil at specific times. Sometimes to use a flushing agent or just to replenish fully by pumping new oil in to get the old oil out. That geezer well I didn't bother reading it as the page was huge and too many cartoon characters. Read this thread properly. If you don't want to change all the oil out of your cars gearbox then don't but Do Not tell, warn imply others not to. Those specialists I've spoken to do top end cars gearbox services and those gearboxes which cist more than four or five of ours cars total. I listen to them as they have the experience.

I'd ask the MOT tester that I regularly use to get their interpretation before I altered the lights at the rear of my car. With me being a professional driver I see 000's of cars on the road. The ones I'm disgusted with are those plonkers who blackout their rear lights. They can hardly be seen and I've witnessed plenty of near misses of those cars being rear ended because the light output is drastically reduced.

Well done in taking the dash out in much less time than you expected. Maybe you could do a post like how to put the dash back in and others can see what's involved and not be scared of the job. Yes a mystery regarding the starting issue but just because an electronic unit look nice and clean it may well be fried inside. See what electrical tests you can do. You seem methodical so it should be easy to do. Good luck.

Sat nav update
Mr Vlad replied to squire1973's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
I think the 2009 year models have the latest version. Go into the menu and within you'll find the version you have. The very latest is 2009-2011. Quite a bit on here so browse and you'll find posts about satnav versions. -
Hi Simon. You made a mistake using Adrian Flux. They are rip off merchants. Every year for the past 20 or so they've been between 2 and 300 quid dearer. Shop around.

Hi Luke and welcome to the best Lexus forum there is and to ownership of arguably the best Lexus. Fabulous colour. As for the front bumper lips. Look on Lexus Parts Direct. If I remember I paid about £80 for the lip which is in 2 Parts by the way. Also comes colour coded to your car. Worth every penny as it transforms the look.

Coolant leak from solid pipe behind water cap
Mr Vlad replied to MrTrendizzle's topic in Engine & Transmission
Excellent of you to post how you changed the water pump. Well done you 👏 👍 -
I wouldn't touch any insurance company that has those totally stupid 'get out of clauses ' to increase the premium. So a new ruling in the MOT test in 2021 to fail a car which has LED replacing normal bulb in headlights. Funny. I've had LED side lights in my car and it's passed each of the 3 MOT'S my car has had and the last one was in 2021.

Update. New used headlight fitted this late morning. My old one wow what a load of water in it. I thought I'd scavenge the control unit. Took back of it and OMG rust inside it. No reusing that then. So moral of this is if you find condensation in your headlight find the reason why within a few days. If not possible then forget it and replace the headlight. I got mine for £135 so that's a bargain in my eyes.

Hi Paul. What kind of service history has the car got? Maybe book it in with your nearest Lexus dealer for a service. At least they take a good look at the cars. How many miles on it?
-
I only know of Depo and Vland. Personally wouldn't touch Vland. If you have zenon headlight then consider changing to halogen as from what I've seen on Lexus direct £89 for one bulb!!!!!!!!!!!! Ruddy rip off but on the other hand £250 for a genuine new halogen headlight, double that for a zenon one.

Well that surprises me you had to get the hub aswell as the new bearing. Last year my car had an advisory for a split bush in the rear hub. I thought pooh as a new hub would be needed. But no. Found new bushes and a nearby garage that has all kinds of presses. Out with the old and in with the new. Wheel bearings can be pressed out and back in again.

Well I've got a replacement used headlight coming this week mine has rust looking stains inside the lens bit. I was considering getting the Vland ones but after seeing a video how to install them and he tested them against a different aftermarket ones I said to myself no way hozay. The light pattern from them look ruddy awful. That's my view and I know some on here have them and love them.

If the is250 is too long then there's only one other car. The mighty Ford Fiesta. Its the only small car I'd have.
