  1. You'll have more luck with an android phone. IPhone bluetooth is shyte and doesn't communicate with anything else but iPhone.
  2. Parked in front of you? To me that indicates not only the rear end get stuffed but your front end too. What a bummer and damned bad luck. As for a Merc, or any other for that matter, van V a Lexus or any other car the van would win. Very true coz van drivers don't give a damn in general. I know I've been in logistics decades.
  3. @T why unexpected? Because I wouldn't expect a very modern electric car being broken down on a motorway especially one which has the very best charging infrastructure out there.
  4. I should have posted this yesterday but I was knackered. On the way back from Edinburgh (new job I deliver there 3-4 times a week) whilst on the M6 on the opposite carriageway on the hard shoulder with a tow truck behind was a Tesla model 3. Blimey I thought, that's unexpected. So as the title states what's the most unexpected car you've seen on the motorway hard shoulder?
  5. As Linas said above. When I bought my is250 knew it wasn't a dead straight car and been in a bump or two. Lots of missing clips. Billions of scratches but the car ran like new and after spending a couple hundred quid on getting the paint sorted I simply love my car. Even the headlights were ever so slightly different but they worked. I've had to replace one coz of very bad condensation and the replacement is mint whilst the 'old' one looks naff now lol. You've got a superb car. Nothing to threat about. Remember it's an old car but it's still superb.
  6. Front grill could be changed to the f sport type. As for headlight upgrade you could go vland. As for remap get a car with a turbo. The is250 is a superb cruiser not a boy racer type car tho when floored it does jolly along quite nicely.
  7. What a bummer. That stealer ooops dealer needs naming and shaming.
  8. John. The only expert transmission specialist, which I've mentioned in the gen2 is section within gearbox oil change, is in Leigh. Can't remember their name but they do auto box work on Ferrari, Porche, Rollers, Jags, basketball all top end motors with gearboxes that cost 2-3 times more than our 'old' cars.
  9. 2nd hand car prices have shot up a lot recently so 7.2k for a 10 plate RX450H is quite reasonable. As for Tameside Transmissions John. I'm gobsmacked Matt of high peak autos uses them. I've spoken with them regarding my is250 and they said basically they're not interested. Also many negative reviews. Personally I'd stay well clear of them. There must be reputable transmission experts nearer Kent.
  10. Pics 1 and 2 show a plastic lug that sticks out yes? Locate that trim into its position and note where the lugs meet the metal bar and you should see square holes. The clips push into the square holes and are held by friction. The plastic lugs of the trim push into the clips and the trim stays where it should. Hope that makes sense.
  11. Hi Jon. I'm sure this has been mentioned on this forum so I suggest you browse it and you'll find your answer.
  12. Hi Jim. Yes Lexus don't do gearbox oil changes. The RX however is a CVT and personally I've no idea about its lubrication even tho I had one a few years back. Post your queries in the RX section where you'll get all the info you need.
  13. You know what tho Kamen that tiny bit I wouldn't worry about. It only sticks out when you zoom into it or in actual size concentrate on it.
  14. Just realised yours is a manual. I've looked on auto trader and feel the gaitor clips in from the top or from underneath. Probably is a tight squeeze to get it in.
  15. Looks very good to me. A job well done 👏
  16. It probably clips to something under the panel. I've had my centre panel off and noticed the gaitor fitted from underneath.
  17. Those kind of clips are generic and you'll find very similar on ebay.
  18. Hi James. So the gaitor has come out completely? Look on YouTube how to remove the radio headunit, yes sounds daft but the 1st few instructions show how to remove the centre console. It's a very easy job. You take off the 2 side chrome looking trim using either your fingers or a plastic tool. Then the centre console comes off by lifting from the clips which hold it in. Once removed place the gaitor over the gearstick and put the console and trim back on.
  19. Hi James. Post a photo of it so we can see exactly what the problem is.

    Rust

Absolutely as John stated above. That rust is quite bad and to do a proper remedy means a lot of work. Just how long after buying the car did you notice the rust? Personally I'd take the car back and get a refund. There are plenty more cars out there and with no rust issues.
  21. Just remember to service the rear brake caliper slide pins. They're the only achilies ankle on the car. Unfortunately due to poor design they tend to seize. Not part of any dealer service. Simple enough to do. Plenty of videos on YouTube how to remove the rear brake caliper pins. Looks like you've got a corker example of the arguably best Lexus ever made.
  22. Nice colour Michael. Manual too good choice. I'm assuming your car doesn't have the Nav screen but a narrow type display for heating and one for radio. If that is the case then you have a myriad of choices over a car with Nav. There are good android units and really bad ones. I recommend you look up saab unleashed on YouTube. Yes he's saab orientated But he's the best android headunit tester out there. You'll get great Info about which unit to buy for your car. As for the front shocks. Simply go OEM but they're not cheap, for the rears anyway I got my rear ones done at Halfords using genuine shocks.
  23. Hello Michael and welcome to Lexus ownership and especially the is250 and the best Lexus forum there is. What made you go for one? Do you know it's history including its service history? Which spec of car do you have? Pleased do post some pics as we like to see each others cars.
  24. I'm not sure if the diesel tank is the same, maybe start a new thread as you'll have more of a chance of an answer. I'm wondering if it's possible to actually repair your tank. I know it's possible to re-line a petrol tank. As for the shield. Can it not be cleaned up and a metal patch welded where the hole is? Ask the mechanic and do some research. As for used, there's a Lexus breakers in Accrington. I know they have quite a few Lexus cars, I've actually been there in person for a couple of trim pieces. Look them up as they do post items.
  25. That sounds ok. So they're going to get rid of the rust then put a wax coating on? That sounds good and expensive. Personally I'd get them to wire brush all the rust then apply one of those rust remedies like Kurust. It's a chemical which transforms rust to a safe strong state and then wax over it.
