  1. Blimey I can't remember last time I undersealed a car lol. Was definitely a BL car so looking at the 90's. I have however used Kurust on a couple of cars suspension arms and brake calipers, looked quite good to. Anyway enjoy your painting.
  2. There's only one true way to fi down out if a tyre is any good. Buy it and get it fitted to your car. Drive your car as you normally would. Then after a thousand or so miles make a decision if the tyre (pair of tyres it should be) is any good or not. I like those brake caliper covers. What are they and where from or did you paint them and get some decals?
  3. That's how I have my Bluetooth adapter plugged in to the aux socket powered by the 12v socket. All available on ebay.
  4. Hi. It's simpler to use the socket in the armrest. You need the Shallow type charger with a 90 degree USB adapter.
  5. That's well put William. Car security seems to have taken a back seat it appears. Back in the day buying a car alarm system like scorpion for example was the only choice along with those yellow stop lock things. I always had 2 extra sirens put inside the car. Amazing what 130db can do to a would be tealeaf lol. Faraday pouches. I thought about this and why they become useless after a time. After my last post I did indeed test my pouch. Oh dear it failed. Luckily when I bought it I got 2 so my 'new' one works fine. Now why they fail. I think it's because something within the pouch breaks down every time the key fob is inserted and withdrawn. So I'm assuming that after a few thousand key in key out the pouch basically has broken its protective barrier materials. So the damage is within the pouch yet the outside looks like new.
  6. Well I've had a surprise phone call from Lexus Stockport about my cars next service and MOT (not due till mid August). He pointed out I'm on a service plan and this next service is the last one of the plan (I got a 3 year plan). He also mentioned that because of the age of the car (07 plate) and that I'm an existing service plan customer that I can continue/extend the plan. So for another 3 year plan consisting of 2 major and 1 minor 30x £29 which I'm happy with, including 3x MOT. Now then I did ask if this extension can be got by fellow Lexus Owners? He couldn't answer for other areas of the country but for those who use Stockport or Bolton you can. Stockport and Bolton are in the RRG group and it's a RRG thing with the service plans. So if you're interested in an extension of your existing plan and you're in the Greater Manchester area then ho for it. If you're anywhere else and use a RRG group Lexus dealer it would be worth asking them. I don't know of getting a new plan from scratch but if one doesn't ask then one doesn't get as the saying goes.
  7. That caliper shouldn't move like that unless something is very wrong. Personally I'd not drive the car like that until problem solved. The only time I've ever experienced that caliper action was because the brake pads were so worn so check them out. Possibly the mounting bolts are loose. The front calipers don't have the same slide pin issue the rear ones have but definitely take the calipers off and service the pins (get new shims first)
  8. Pretty fast then for a 250, the way it accelerated away at times led me to believe its a 350. Didn't watch till the end as I find yank coppers obnoxious.
  9. Yes I think there are far too many very poor Faraday pouches. In just 2 years I've gone through 4 or 5 of them. Trouble is you can't really tell between a proper guddun or a clap one (ooooops carnt spel).
  10. In response to my comment on it being against the law to reverse out into a street. It was definitely law a couple decades ago. I personally reported numerous folk for reversing out of there drives because they were stupid in not seeing a 7.5 ton truck tootling down said road. Those 'drivers' did get a visit from the police. Fact. Now then all I can say is that law must have changed to exclude all roads other than A roads.
  11. As for reversing out of a drive onto the roadway. For one it's downright stupid and dangerous also it's against the law. Shame that law is mostly ignored by 'idiots' and the police. Not having a rant. It's the opinion of professionals.
  12. Blimey that's crazy how dirty that cabin filter got in just one year. I can't believe the air in Cardiff is that bad. But well done in posting your findings. Think I'll have a look at the one in mine.
  13. Right ok coz the is200 is a 2.0 litre 6 cylinder petrol. Do a post in gen 2 IS about your car issues as you'll get answers quickly.
  14. Hi Chris. Are you sure it's an is200? They stopped at 2005 or there abouts. What engine is in your car?
  15. Maybe they're either taking the mick or just wanting to be different and make people think.
  16. Have you contacted Xtrons about this issue? How's the fit of your Xtrons unit? I've seen too many where the fit is naff.
  17. Hi Alan and welcome to the best Lexus forum there is. Blimey that's some list of cars and bikes, nice to know about the bikes (I was a yamaha man myself back in the halcyon years). So you must have loved Jags which is no bad thing. MGZT arguably the best car I've had, equal to my is250 and a UR Quattro I used to have. You've got a corker of a car which I'm sure you'll enjoy.
  18. According to LexTec gearbox and rear diff oil change at 100k intervals. I phoned them last week for a quote, still waiting for a call back.
  19. I didn't know that Peter. Looks like a law/rule has been changed then.
  20. Having one's own car break down on the motorway doesn't count, sorry Malc and Linas. Cars that you have seen whilst in motion are what I'm on about. I remember a good few years ago seeing a S type merc on the hard shoulder in flames but I don't count that as surprising as it was an old car.
  21. I'm intrigued by the legality of flashing red rear lights on a car in the UK anyway. As far as I know its illegal. Years ago there was an invention to do with rear brake lights flashing with different intensity according to braking pressure/force. Seemed a great idea as those following would be able to see just how much the car in front was braking and would follow suit. However this invention was deemed illegal. Things may have changed since then legality wise but I personally don't know. I'd steer clear of these 'dancing ' red lights. If I encountered a car with those I'd probably thump the driver in the face for causing distraction unnecessarily.
  22. Just cut the rubber off. The chrome underneath I'd say is rather good quality as it's like new on my 14 year old is250.
  23. You'll have more luck with an android phone. IPhone bluetooth is shyte and doesn't communicate with anything else but iPhone.
