  1. I've mentioned the BP station a Mike and a bit down the road from my local Tesco that's cheaper by a penny a litre now btw. We'll on the way home from work today I thought I'd pop in to fuel up with 'the gudstuff'. OMG 199.9p a litre. Oh well £100.01 to fill up today. Jeeeez I've never spent anywhere near that in my 40+ years of car ownership.
  2. Blimey 2 very interesting links there guys. The DAF trucks seem really good But I've not seen actual carrying weight capacity. Only gross vehicle weight and cab + chassis weight. No mention of weight of the batteries. Wow overhead cables just like trams eh? I really can't see that taking off. They'll have to have those overhead cables on every road and street and dirt track (leading to farms etc). Plus just what kind of power supply would be needed to power tens of thousands of trucks all needing power at the same time. Oh and overhead cables in delivery point yards and to loading bays. Nice idea in theory but in practice? I don't cocoa cocoa.
  3. You may well be right there Malc 👍
  4. My lexus ownership started with the is300h. It was advertised by lexus leeds as Premier Premium. It wasn't a patch on the 2nd Premier Premium I bought. Both identical colour year spec but like chalk and cheese. The 2nd one was sublime. The ML was Awesome (1st one with ML was Awful). The handling too was fabulous. How does that 300h compare to my current is250? Well the fuel economy wipes the floor. Never got less than 50mpg. Yes I drove it hard most of the time. As for the engine noise when you floor it yes the 250 is oh so much better but the 300h isn't that bad ( just have the music on loud as I do). How did my 300h accelerate? Well with a full traction battery it went off the line like a scalded cat. I'd say there's nothing in it compared to the 250. Ride quality better due to the 300h being so much newer. Would I go back to an is300h? Yes. I loved that car and only let it go for the awesome RX450H f-sport which was fully loaded. I wouldn't worry one bit about getting an is300h. Just take the potential purchase for a damn good test drive. They're not all the same. I had 2 identical top of the range yet they were like chalk and cheese.
  5. I'm not going to carry on re the focus EV. All I know is what I saw on numerous occasions with different number of occupants. Price of petrol. Well blow me here's me thinking supermarket petrol is cheaper. On the way to work this morning I noticed tesco 187.9ppl. 1.5 miles down the road there's a BP station. Now I've always found BP to be the dearest but ugger me there's was 182.8 a whole 5p difference. Are supermarkets starting to take the wee wee out of us one wonders.
  6. Out of Interest what is the difference in rolling circumference between a 17" wheel shod with its correct tyre versus a 19" wheel shod with its correct tyre?
  7. You should have a look in the NX section of the forum and search there if there's been any tailgate strut issues.
  8. Re the Ford Focus EV. I use to see one regularly some years back. Reviews weren't good for it. I also saw them in Ford showrooms. So whoever said they weren't available for Joe public were totally wrong. Very interesting news on a hydrogen filling station on the M6. As for an electric large truck. Some laws would need to be changed allowing much much heavier trucks on the road.
  9. Hello Philip and welcome to Lexus ownership and to the best Lexus forum there is. You've chosen well with the is300h. Hope you came from an auto gearbox in your previous car. What made you go for a Lexus and in particular the is300h? There is a dedicated section in the forum for the 3rd generation IS cars and lots of topics on the is300h. I've had 2 and they're brilliant cars. Enjoy yours.
  10. Hi Rod. I've had similar issues on other forums in the past. It's a memory thing lol. Good to see you've got the sublime is250 👍. Being in Lancaster means you're not far from me. How long have you had your 250?
  11. Oh Bernard you just jolted a great memory. I had a go in a DAF 44 with the CVT. What a scream it was. It belonged to a stone haulier that delivered to me when I was a concrete batcher 30 sommat years ago. I thought it was the nuts but he kept it running for nearly a couple of decades. As for the screaming of an engine on a CVT car. I'd imagine one or two cars actually wouldn't like their engines on full throttle for half a minute or so. Some other cars engines would love it. The is300h in particular is such an engine. I drove mine hard and it loved it. It was surprisingly quiet when on full chat. Other cars are loud and clattery by comparison.
  12. What the hells going on with Jerky shifts? If someone is experiencing jerky gear shifts it's down to two things. 1 gearbox gone. 2 the person just can't drive. Its that simple. The 7.5ton Isuzu I unfortunately drive sometimes is utter utter expletive expletive. That jerks and its an auto box. Superglide I think it's called. Ruddy expletive more like. The 7.2 ton Iveco is manual and I shift gears seamless and with no loss of momentum. My is250 shifts gear 98% seamless and definitely no loss of momentum. Thise of you who have witnessed the vehicle next to you slow down with each gear change have witnessed a expletive who can't drive. I know sod all about ecvt so I can't comment. is300h is one helluva car and with a full traction battery gets off the line oh so swiftly and when I had mine no one kept up from a standing start. Oh and it most definitely is a drivers car. Handles sublimely. Back to petrol prices. Blimey I took a detour back to my base and I passed an Esso station where I noticed unleaded was 182.9 and crikey a queue of about 1/8 mile. Just how many folk are just plain stupid? Why queue for fuel is beyond me.
  13. I'd ask in the CT section of the forum. Browse it first in the search section. If you don't find anything then ask fellow CT owners who'd only be happy to help. As for sub size it depends on how much of your boot space you need. I found the Alpine could handle very low frequencies. Radio 1 drum and bass show I listened to on the BBC sounds app and I'd say only about 3% of the really low stuff is missed. That's where a larger sub is better.
  14. The Alpine SW815 is an astonishing sub. It got tons of great reviews. I had it in a mk4.5 mondeo and depending on what music it shook the car. With your car I'd recommend wiring the power direct from the 12v battery but using a quick blow fuse really close to the battery. Negative can be got from a good clean metal part of your car. You'll need an ignition on power feed to switch the sub amp on. Music source ideally from behind the radio unit or from your existing ML amp, you can piggyback the remote power on from that by the way. Sounds complicated but common sense is all you need. There are videos on YouTube on wiring in an external sub. Oh for example of boot space taken by the SW815. Had it first in a mk3 focus. I could fit a baby buggy and a good medium sized holdall in the boot with the sub in place.
  15. My SE-L doesn't have auto fold mirrors. But it has a separate button for it. Someone on here did a modification some time ago. Relatively cheap. Worth checking it out.
  16. Do you know what. There's far too much slagging off of EV particularly a tesla. At the end of the day wether a car is powered by petrol diesel or electric its down to the individual who has bought hired leased it. I love my V6 even though I know I'd be better off all round in an EV. I won't slag off an EV or its owner just as I won't slag off a petrol or diesel owner. Each power source has its merits. We are all individual and have individual needs and requirements. If you want to slag off anyone then do so to the @ricks who weave in and out of traffic whilst on their mobile phone. As it happens I really like the tesla model Y. That car would meet all my criteria as would the ipace jag but for the foreseeable my is250 is here to stay and I'm more than happy with that.
  17. I'm sure there are CD adapters like the cassette type to allow Bluetooth streaming but iPhone Bluetooth is oh so picky as they screw up the Bluetooth. I strongly recommend an android phone then the world is your oyster on what's available. If you insist on sticking with the iPhone then I wish you well.
  18. I went from a RX450H to a 2.2 diesel mondeo. Only swapped for economic reasons and I miss that car. To answer your question I'd replace a RX with a slightly newer one.
  19. Hi Joe. You'll have to be careful about installing an extra sub because of one cancelling out the other. A phase issue (correct terminology escapes me). It would be best to disconnect the ML sub and introduce another sub. Not necessarily a bigger sub as too many large subs are cheap rubbish. I've used the Alpine SW815 with outstanding results. A self powered sub needs power so you'd need to get a 12v supply from the battery and a good earth then a remote power on from an ignition fed supply then a source which can be got from a speaker. Sounds complicated but it's simple.
  20. Hi David. Bit of a @ummer the accident. Re the error code. I recommend you search within the gen2 IS section of the forum as this subject is unfortunately common. There's quite a bit to read and I suggest you spend a couple hours reading the many threads.
  21. Bernard. Re the the wine fridge you ordered. The probability is that it cost way less than you think to manufacture. An example is oak furniture land. I had the unfortunate opportunity to deliver for them some years ago. Their rules were never unpack the goods. I broke that rule on every delivery I did and just as well. 20% of the time the goods were damaged. What did they do with the damaged furniture? Burn it. Yes when it was taken back they sent it off to incinerators. Item to buy £500. Item to make and distribute £50. This statement is true and fact. When I found this out I left. Cheap (expletive) sold for 10X + the costs to suckered up customers. That's why you was told to throw it away coz it cost peanuts to build and ship. You was unfortunately suckered in by an advert and false reviews on that product.
  22. Those who agree with your totally irresponsible silly comment can go get (expletive). They can also sell their vehicles and use public transport. I love V8's and would love one. I'll stick with my V6 for the foreseeable. 👍
  23. Hi Connor and welcome to the best Lexus forum there is. A number of cars like yours came with a DAB button but that's it. A DAB receiver and aerial are needed and a lot of cars didn't have them installed. There's been quite a bit on here regarding this. I recommend you search the gen 2 IS section and you'll find a good few threads about this. If you want DAB and have Bluetooth connectivity then I suggest use your phone with a radio app that has DAB stations.
  24. Considering you were kind of scared re wrapping the dash you've done a ruddy good job of it. That vinyl looks almost like leather. Top job 👏 👌 👍
