That's ok Danny. It's good you've found a trusted body shop. And yes there's too many cowboys. I too have a trusted body shop I've used for near 10 years. 2 years ago when I got my 250 it had oh so many scratches which would have put buyers off but not me because of my trusted body shop. They rectified the paint as far as they could leaving about 5% which could only be done by painting. 200 quid is all I was charged for a full day's rubbing and polishing. So yes I'd have thought 300 quid for your issue is about the ball park. We'd like to know what your guy does if you would.

Oh dear that is a mess. Ideally the whole bumper needs taking off. The lip can be put back in place with self tapping screws though something looks distorted in the bumper. A rub down with different grades of wet n dry then primed and painted. Leaving the bumper on the car makes the repairs and painting awkward. Oh and for the record I bought genuine lexus lip for my car and yes it's in 2 parts and yes expensive but it came colour matched painted. The 2 parts clip together and there are a number of tongues which clip into the bumper lower. I found that once clipped in it was solid. Only needed a self tapper at each end.

Queen Elizabeth II has died, Buckingham Palace announces
Mr Vlad replied to NemesisUK's topic in Lexus Owners Club Lounge
I've been on midnight starts this week so going to bed at 5pm. I've just seen the really sad news of our Queens death. I'm really saddened. Never met her but respected her highly. Rest in peace with your husband your majesty. -
Yes John E10 does take its time to start perishing sensitive fuel lines etc to decay. You mention 5 years. That'll make my car 20 years young. Before then I'll be renewing the sensitive parts of the fuel system simply because of the age of those parts. I mean nothing lasts forever does it. Bushes wear out. Brake pads wear out. Suspension wears out. Folk change them but neglect to change rubber pipes. It's so easy to overlook and that's why fuel systems are basically neglected until an issue occurs. But because I mix both 5 and 10 the ratio of 10 is less than 50% and since 5 is more like 1 or zero then the ratio is more like 75%. By ratio I mean the ratio of 5 to 10. Also no one from Lexus can tell us why E10 is bad for our cars so where the govt got the Info from to say cars like mine aren't suitable for E10 use is anyone's guess and the info is probably some kind of propaganda. There endeth my sermon.
-
I put E10 in mine then I put E5 then E10 then E5 etc etc. I always add Millers petrol ecomax no matter what I put in. My car runs as sweet as a sweet thing. It recently passed its MOT so the stuff that comes out of the exhaust must be as good as it should be.

Buying an IS300H F sport (out of warranty vs in)
Mr Vlad replied to Adj209's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Hello Ash. I can understand if you're getting a bit confused about warranties and servicing etc. You say you're only going to do around 4k miles a year. Now I've had 2 is300h and loved the second to bits. However the is250 to me is the better car. Yes the gen 2 car is much older but it's oh so reliable. If you've never had a CVT transmission car or an auto then you'd hate the is300h. The gen 2 is250 only has one problem and that's the rear brake calipers seizing due to lack of lubricating them (a decent garage would do that if you're not of the ilk to service a car). The year of model is300h you're after has a couple more issues which I'm sure you've read about. Because of your low mileage I really recommend the is250. Yes it's less economical Yes it's older (but a ruddy good looking car) yes road tax is a lot more but servicing is cheaper. There's no issues with the hybrid side as it doesn't have one. You'll have a silky smooth V6 sound. I'd recommend the SE-L which is top of the range. Sublime ride even slightly better than the 300h. Browse the gen 2 IS section to gather info on pros and cons etc. Sorry for throwing this spanner in. -
Blimey they're ruddy cheap. However cheap is cheap and the quality of those shocks I'd query very much. Mike. Yes your car is 13 years old. Mines 15 and at 13 years old I had genuine rear shocks put on mine. Yes expensive But they'll last at least another 13 years and all veing well I'll still be driving my car then knowing I've not skimped on it or the safety of the ride.

LPD Service pack deals
Mr Vlad replied to Linas.P's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
I get what you mean Linas. I take my car to Lexus once a year. I cover no more than 4k miles a year (lucky me). I disagree with you whole heartedly however you saying it's too expensive/inefficient to take a car to Lexus every 5k miles. That statement of yours almost contradicts what you've stated about doing your own services in-between those done by the dealer. -
Fingers crossed indeed Philip. But the underlying issue of why it comes on surely must be found. Theoretically that VSC off gizmo could be hiding a problem which could get worse and the gizmo fail because of it. Not trying to worry you but just advising.

Funnily enough and what a coincidence. After I did my last post in this thread I went Into my emails and low and behold. Lexus Parts Direct 40% off sale service packs lol. -
Blimey they say an easy access behind the front bumper? Plus without causing damage because a damaged car is worth so much less etc etc. That amount of 'shaking ' the car to fold back the bumper surely has to trigger the cars alarm. From my own experience with changing a nearside headlight it took me a good 15 mins to losen the wheel arch liner and to remove numerous screws to access the headlight mounting screws. Very good article though. Something made me chuckle though. Where it said to use a steering wheel lock as a physical deterrent as it probably would deter the 'techno kid' who doesn't know manual things.

LPD Service pack deals
Mr Vlad replied to Linas.P's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
All I can add to this is the service plan I've recently bought. 2x Major and 1x Minor and 3x MOT total cost £1035. Plus a free loan car fir each service. Personally speaking it's a no brainer getting Lexus or a trusted independent to do services. To me nowadays its a malarkey to get everything needed for a service then jacking the car up then securing it so it doesn't fall over then getting the tools out then cursing you've got the wrong spanner etc etc etc. I'm of an age now I can't be farsed. -
Hi Philip. So you've disconnected the battery for a good half hour and the VSC light still on? How old is the battery? Does it measure a minimum of 12v? You had a tpms issue which was sorted. Was that at the rear or front? I ask because when I had new rear tyres fitted last year and git back in my car I noticed the VSC light on the dash. They sorted it by freeing up the headlight levelling gizmo which is at the rear of the car. Very recently also the VSC came back on my car but the battery was bad and the alternator wasn't working. New battery and alternator later no more VSC.
-
Hi Naikey. I suggest you post your problem in the gen 2 IS section where you stand a very good chance of replies and ideas. I can't think of anything as you say you've got a newish battery and alternator.

Recommend you take your dog with you to make sure he/she fits in the boot. However I can't see a German shepherd fitting comfortably in the boot of a CT. A dog that size needs an estate car or a SUV type car. The CT is neither. After all the dogs comfort and safety are paramount.

Really good progress there Jesse. You've done one helluva conversion. I tip my cap to you. I hope you get the 'niggles' you're going through sorted. Looking forward to the next episode.

Hi David. Don't worry you Are in the right forum section. What's happened to have you need new seat foam? If new foam isn't available now then your only options are either a seat from a breaker car or find a vehicle upholstery fitter. I've no idea of cost but from an upholstery fitter the foam will be like new.

IS250 F Sport (3rd Gen) - Any common issues to look out for?
Mr Vlad replied to Isaac5099's topic in New Members Area
Hi Isaac and welcome to the best Lexus forum there is. So you're looking to but a gen 3 is250? No common issues on the 3rd gen that I can think of. I suggest you look in the gen 3 IS section of the forum where you'll find all the information you need. -
Hi Mohamed and welcome to the forum. You've had your car 5 years now yes? Why didn't you join the forum then? What kind d of service history does your car have? Lexus history or independent? You say the PSC light xame on and steering gone stiff? You say you checked battery and alternator? How old is the battery? How gave you checked the alternator? I had the same problem. Battery seemed fine. I even bought a new one. The problem was the alternator. I had to get a new one as it wasn't charging properly. My car now runs as sweet as it was like new. It won't be cheap to replace the alternator but with the age of the car aswell you really do need to get a new alternator fitted.

Hello John and welcome back to blighty and to the best Lexus forum there is. Choosing the RX is excellent as they're such a good and reliable car. You really do need to look in the RX section of the forum as within you'll find answers to all the questions you can think of. Good luck in your search for another RX. If you could stretch to the 450h then that's the one to go for as it's just better all round than the 400h.

Look up lexus breakers Accrington. You could also try 247 spares. It's a network of car breakers. You tell it what you need and they contact you. -
Mainly a cat question but Turbo included for project.
Mr Vlad replied to MrTrendizzle's topic in Modifications & Tuning
Hi MrT. Look on the American Lexus forum. A few years ago someone fitted twin turbos to their is250. From memory the turbos were located at the rear of the car and the forced air back to the front. It was a very intense build which took quite some months and various trips to specialists. The car ran very well and he sold it about a year later. I think I found the article c/o googling turbo is250. If you've got it in your head to do it then best of luck. Don't be put off by it or by anyone. Do find that article as it's a ruddy good one.
