  1. Blimey that's a heck of a lot for just One winter 😳
  2. WOW where did you get it from Matt and how much if you don't mind me asking. What spec is it?
  3. Generic cables. KEEP WELL AWAY. Personally they've cost me hundreds because they're sub standard and have blown electrics.
  4. Sean. If you're going to Leeds Forget the cars satnav. Use Google. Why? Because Leeds City centre is an #ffing nightmare. Loads of what's called Bus Gate. How do I know? I deliver there at least 3 times a week. I'm not sure there's a park and ride but I'd park The Crown Point shopping centre. From there it's about a 10 min walk to city centre or get a taxi.
  5. Then you've got zenon bulbs. They must be worn out by now and need changing. They are more expensive than halogen bulbs. I've read you can fit them yourself But you have to be extra careful not to touch any of the glass areas. BUT the zenon are Dipped headlight. The main beam is halogen. A favourite upgrade with fellow IS owners is Osram Night Breaker Laser. HB3 model.
  6. Rico. One way to tell if you have zenon is. At night when you turn on your headlights do you notice them going up and down? If so you have zenon. If not you have halogen. And NO you can not change from a halogen bulb to a zenon. Far too much to change.
  7. I'm sure it's not just Nissan who use a 'donkey' engine. I'm sure I've seen another manufacturer do that to. Toyota have it bang on in my opinion with their hydrogen car.
  8. Source what parts? EV's have mechanical parts like suspension parts which I suspect are sourced from a huge parts bin the manufacturer already has. Motors? Well I guess most are generic. Batteries? Don't know about that. I'm more anti EV than pro. Yes they have their place but not for everyone. As John said earlier Hybrid should be continued and even improved if possible and for at least a couple of decades. Jumping head first into EV like it is doing is almost suicidal. Yes it looks like there are more folk on continuing finance on cars. Me if I borrow money to buy a car it's over 3 years and then it's MINE.
  9. I'd get back to the manufacturer and state a claim against their poor quality.
  10. Hi Peter. LA11 is the trim code. Look at the vertical part where it says TR. Have you not tried a leather cleaner? Try a soft soap in warm water and a soft scourer and gently rub the affected areas. Then after drying thoroughly use a good quality leather conditioner.
  11. I was on about cars manufacturered for the European Market Malc. They won't spend the HUGE amounts needed to lower the emissions for the European and possibly the North American Market. However for the nations that you've mentioned they can and will produce the petrol and diesel engined cars where their emissions are not bothered about anywhere as much as Europe.
  12. Car manufacturers are only on board in ending fossil fuel propulsion for one simple reason. Because of the self indulgence of power crazed morons in the European Union who are strangling the emissions to a level that makes it impossible without HUGE investment by those car manufacturers that they've got no ruddy choice.
  13. Well said Malc. Wether a car be petrol diesel a mix of petrol and gas or indeed EV. All these power sources suit different folk. Neither is overall better than the other. However each has a superior attribute. Now an ideal,me thinks, is a car as frugal as a diesel as quick acceleration as an EV and sounds like a petrol V6 and even V8 then we'd be happy bunnies 🐰
  14. Blimey. It might well be an original battery. If it is then that surely must be a record for longest lasting battery. Definitely a new battery needed. I recently bought one but also a new charger the smart type. Glad I did as the new battery needed an overnight charge. Needed a new alternator too but battery now is fine and dandy.
  15. Not sure about the intensity. Never heard that one before in 35 years driving. Just renew the main beam bulbs. Maybe the ones in your car are original and maybe fading. Xenon bulbs kind of fade over time so I imagine 'normal ' bulbs do to. The headlights in 250 and 220d are the same spec dependant (some have xenon others don't)
  16. Covid jab chip implant. Love it 🤣 You forgot Google.
  17. What do you mean by the battery collapsed Sharon? Do you know the age of the battery? Was it holding charge? What symptoms were there that caused the collapse? Is your alternator working correctly? Sorry to ask but I'd want to know why the battery gave in before I put a new one in only for that to fail prematurely.
  18. Yes Rico. And as John said above on the passenger side you need to remove the windscreen washer bottle filler neck. 10mm bolt dead easy to remove. As for the drivers side it depends if you have Big hands or small ones. It's not overly necessary to remove the air box as there's a bit more than just enough room to remove the bulb cover. There are a good number of videos on YouTube on how to change bulbs on the is250/220d. I recommend you watch them first to get a good picture of what is involved.
  19. Yes you say you've used Pointed nose pliers. Theyre no good as they don't get a good grip. I used small bull nose pliers.
  20. I'd check that the bulbs are sitting properly in their holder and that the bulb holder is located properly in the headlight. Its a bit fiddly fitting those bulbs and possibly fitted incorrectly.
  21. I feel your pain Mike. But persevere with a pair of stubby type pliers. That's how I finally got that stupidly small fuse out. I didn't realise the fuses were that small that when I did finally get it out I was fuming as I only had standard size fuses. 20 mins later after a visit to my local halfords I finally finished fitting my dash cam. I too have it powered from an ignition on power source.
  22. I don't know where the 'greater' got in. It should have read great con. Don't ask me to explain as I can't condense it to a couple of paragraphs. But basically EV's will Not help towards climate change. Its down to how they're made.
  23. Excellent write up Karl and an honest one too. Enjoy your new steed. You should get a job on a motoring magazine.
  24. Yes Lucas. I agree totally that in the is250 the manual shifts much faster than the auto. It does in all older cars and it suits a good proportion of owners. Me I wouldn't go back to manuals (unless I got a focus RS lol)
