Correctly put Phil. Me being a professional driver for over 30 years and sit a CPC every 5 years. Roll on my 70th lol coz this job of mine is near murder at my time of life But its been said doing a labour intensive job goes towards a longer life. Crikey Linas where did you find that photo from. I think I saw that some years ago. Funny as duck (ooops can't spell)

Blimey you shouldn't see a Nissan Micra towing a caravan as its way to small and light. It could tow a very small trailer I think. That was a fabulous find on your car Steve and I appreciate you posting that 👍 As for EV emitting no emissions then I'm sorry to say they do and it's been proven on a panorama type program. The tyres wear a bit more than on a fossil fuel car because of their weight and because of that they emit more 'rubbish ' (sorry can't think of the word) from their tyres. That ok then Colin as I wasn't wanting to wind you up in any way shape or form. I'd be interested in knowing what the weight was of the RX450H I had when it was Fully loaded with 5 in it, clothes for a week and other stuff which totally stuffed the huge boot plus a full tank of go go juice.
-
Colin. All topics 'degenerate' into one thing or another. The worst culprit is the 64 page plus fuel price thread. That has gone through at least 5 different subjects. I started this thread about the weight of some SUV's and the possibility of its owner losing their driving licence. It was a post from you that sparked a comment of clever design. My comment seems to have wound you up for whatever reason. Freedom of speech is a God given right so longs as it doesn't denegrade a person or belief. Very interesting interview with that professor. I didn't realise the way hydrogen is made and just how inefficient it is. Makes me wonder just what is the efficiency of making electricity and large EV batteries that weigh a ton (nearly anyway)
-
Absolutely and basically get off the EV bandwagon and concentrate on hydrogen powered cars. What kind of money is being wasted by some car manufacturers begging that the weight ceiling be raised. That money can go on sorting getting hydrogen stations being built or pumps introduced in existing fuel stations.

Have you not considered changing your f-sport bumper to that of a none f-sport? From a model with the front lip being separate from the main bumper. Look up lexus breakers and see if they have front bumpers.

Hi Lukasz and welcome to the best Lexus forum there is. Is this your first Lexus? What you have looks really nice and especially with the gold badging.

I couldn't think of a better title. The cream I'm on about is regarding the larger SUV's and the possibility of losing one's driving licence. Oh? How? Well the larger SUV's weigh 2.7 tons (so I read). Now the article didn't say if the weight was wet or dry (max weight with fuels and passengers or just the vehicle). So let's assume the vehicle is dry. Fill it up with fuel and five people plus full of luggage. The weight of that larger SUV would then probably weigh over 3.5 tons. The standard driving licence is for vehicles under 3.5 tons. So there is the possible problem. If that owner hasn't a license to drive upto and including 7.5 tons then they could be in great bother. What about grandfather rights I hear some of you say. Well I'm not sure about that. One will have to look on their respective licences for inclusions. So just what are these manufacturers of the larger heavier SUV doing making a vehicle which could jeopardise an owners licence? It would have to be the dealers checking the licence of prospective buyers.

Tailgating cameras and how they work
Mr Vlad replied to Linas.P's topic in Lexus General Discussions
If that were to happen Eric then everyone would suffer massively as they'd not get things delivered. -
Very well put Hamish. Have you contacted your dealer about the issue hitting your knee on the dash panel. Are you a tall fella then maybe the compact UX isn't for you.

Tailgating cameras and how they work
Mr Vlad replied to Linas.P's topic in Lexus General Discussions
Weird reply Colin. Me thinks you're trying to tell a granny how to suck an egg. Personally and its the same to umpteen thousands of drivers, note the terms drivers and not motorists (there's a huge difference) that these so called cameras whether they're for speed or tailgating are indeed cash cows. However there is a small percentage of them that are located correctly in accident black spots. As for distance between vehicles constituting tailgating. There is No Set Distance in the Highway Code. About tailgating there is just one small section of 2 or 3 paragraphs. It just states the obvious. It's dangerous etc etc etc. It seems to me you think I'm one of those who flaunt the law regularly. Absolutely Not. I drive for a living and my licence is clean. And I admit to sometimes speed but I know where and when it's ok to and I'm one of millions too. As for it was a trial and only letters sent out. I read those letters were summons for prosecution. Tailgating at speed is a definite no no. However it can easily be misconstrued at low speeds and that's where the problem is. -
Excellent piece of music superb track.

Tailgating cameras and how they work
Mr Vlad replied to Linas.P's topic in Lexus General Discussions
Well Colin what you posted only goes to show those with cars in the south drive worse than those I see in Lancashire Yorkshire Cumbria. And just what was it those cameras saw and photographed? What parameters were they programmed with to actually photograph the event? Those are my two main points and the third that they're nothing more than cash cows to screw us motorists more than what they're doing now. And yes back in the day when there were more police cars on the road. I remember when I had a Rover 800 Sterling and was stopped for speeding. The police car was a video car. Oh and the video? It was a huge thing on a frame in the middle of the rear seat. One thing the rozzer said to me which I'll never forget. He said "people like you shouldn't have cars like that". He was obviously jealous as I had the top spec car and he had the base model. This was around 1982 or 1983. Happy days lol. -
Tailgating cameras and how they work
Mr Vlad replied to Linas.P's topic in Lexus General Discussions
You're not perceived as being supportive of cash cows Dave. You're right also about driving safely and within the regulations. Most do. Its a minority that sometimes don't. And an even smaller minority that do All the time. Do you know who the worst culprits of tailgating are? HGV1 drivers. I see it every day. I've had them right up my backside (careful lol). My new 7.5 ton truck has 360° cameras (front back and a camera on each side). My truck only does 54mph. I see Class 1 trucks behind me on my camera monitor and because of that I know they're only 6 foot from me. Cars however I see that maybe once a week. I do close on 2k miles a week so I'm on the road quite a bit and I see a Lot. The thing is what defines tailgating. Is there a set distance in feet and inches? Yes there's the 2 second rule which basically is bang on. But what parameters are these tailgating cameras going to work from? That's the question. What you see on the M1 Piers is pure volume of traffic. That in itself can cause the perception of tailgating. -
New exhaust needed
Mr Vlad replied to zoricib's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Blimey Bogdan I forgot all about this post. Glad you finally got the exhaust sorted and then curing the drone noise. Thanks for letting us all know. -
Hi Hamish. I don't own an UX but I've had them as loan cars (love them). I've not encountered that. I'm 5'8" so I'm guessing you're much taller. Try adjusting the seat a little back. Maybe that'll help. If not then seek help from your dealer.

What's killing the car manufacturers is that ruddy unreasonable low CO2 emissions farse figure 95 blah blah blah. The final fuel engines can actually reach that stupid low figure But the cost of that is the killer. The cost of filters for this, filters for that and filters for the other. The electronics behind the filters. They're ruddy expensive and it's that that's choking the car manufacturers and that's what they've stated. That expense I'm sure could be found somewhere somehow and for one making fosil fuelled power stations cleaner is a massive help. It's those countries that use power stations that chuff out tons of krap each day who can't afford to clean up their act or can't be farsed to more like. Asian countries are the culprits.

Hi Demetrios and finally welcome to Lexus ownership and to the best Lexus forum there is. Quite a departure from a sporty Honda to a relaxing is250. What made you go for the is250? You've obviously done some research so well done you.

Has everyone forgotten a post on here some time ago a utube video testing E10 petrol from numerous suppliers and that each samples percentage of that ethanol yummyness was less than 5%? Me thinks so. Anyway there seems to be quite a number of additives that counteract the effects of ethanol in petrol. Personally I'm not sure about most of them but there again do they all work and are they cost effective compared to using the more expensive E5?

I'll be trying my local tesco in the morning.

Tailgating cameras and how they work
Mr Vlad replied to Linas.P's topic in Lexus General Discussions
I've heard about these tailgating cameras but what I read just a few months ago was that their introduction was being looked into. Those chevrons on motorways where one is advised to keep 2 apart. They are set for 70mph. As for the introduction of these effing tailgating cameras I and countless others think they are nothing more than a cash cow and on how they work? I can't think how. Those cash cows are stationery so basically a driver can be doddling along and comes across slowing traffic and hey ho there's a cash cow just where he meets up with almost stationery traffic. Photo taken coz he's 2 foot behind the car in front. Now where's the justification in that? No Where. -
MPG Beat this!
Mr Vlad replied to Tyre Tread's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
What additive Bilal? I've seen some additives but they cost around £20. I worked it out and found it cheaper to use E5. As for Injectors the additive I use cleans them good. Millers ecomax petrol. Recommend to all car owners. (Petrol and diesel) -
Hi Jit. You've just stated you've got new ones to replace the old ones as they are corroded. The centre caps are Plastic. Are you replacing the centre caps or the wheel nuts or the wheels? I'm finding it hard to understand a car owner not having a wheel wrench and a jack. Those two items should be in the car at all times except when being used of course.

Hi Samantha. I'm with British Gas fir both gas and electricity and the 400 quid will be paid I to the gas/electricity account. If supply is over used then all the monies goes into the account. If you under use then surplus monies will be transferred into the bank account used to pay the suppliers. Hope that makes sense. Oh before anyone slags me off for being with British Gas Don't Waste Your Time. For me they've been the cheapest by far for decades.
