  1. Hi Peter. Are most of the lights on on your dash? Something similar happened to me in my is250. Lost steering and the dash was lit up like a Christmas tree. Alternator was the reason. It stopped charging. All good now after getting it replaced.
  2. Very well put Bernard. Your post prompted a memory of a Top Gear episode where they did a special on Saabs. An excellent special too. From their beginnings to their unfortunate demise. The last question/point was where did the Saab owners go next. Answer BMW. I nearly bought a Carlson Saab but the UR Quattro won my heart.
  3. That's because it's a Lexus Owners forum. The subject of Saabs should have gone in General section me thinks.
  4. Las Palmas John. Its fine you don't believe in night driving glasses. The main difference between them and sun glasses is the shade of the tint and the density of the tinge. Polarised sunglasses are available I know. However my 20 year experience of night driving glasses tells Me they're great (hello Tony the tiger lol). I remember vividly in the 80's painting the headlight lens on my motorbike in a yellow paint. It was marketed for use in fog. Worked really well and was great in snow as are night driving glasses.
  5. Hi John. Not really. Some petrol stations sell them. Some motorway services do too. Look on amazon or ebay and type night time driving glasses. Make sure they're of a yellowish tinge and polarised. No specific brand. I've seen them at around the £10 mark. Various styles. I think I've even seen them clip-on type to fit over normal glasses.
  6. Night time driving glasses is what you want. They're like sunglasses but they have a yellowish tinge plus they're polarised. They eliminate glare and improve night time sight. I've been using them for years as just under half my driving time is when it's dark. Highly recommended 👌
  7. Good points Linas and Bill. I get confused with the engine designations. However Linas you mentioned the 4 pot hybrid being gutless! That engine is the UX250H and that car is one I absolutely love. Goes like stink if you want it to and oh so economical. Great handling too.
  8. Good question Lee and one I think needs its own thread. But my answer is the CT. To me it's just not a Lexus. Oh and I think that guy is in Chicago which is it in illinois?
  9. I'm sure some of you know of the YouTube mechanic Car Care Nut. He's a well respected Lexus specialist and his latest video was a best of and worst of Lexus cars. To my utter dismay his opinion of which Lexus is the worst blew me away and my respect for him went out of the window. His reason was simple. Direct Injection. Now this must prove the point that the cars they have in America must suffer greatly for one reason or another. The issue of fuel has been discussed numerous times. Personally the best Lexus car ive had is my current is250 and i wholeheartedly disagree with Mr Car Care Nut. What do you think?
  10. Hi Javier. Looks to me like it's the joint between two pipes that failed. You'll need to get it up on ramps to make sure and fit a new gasket. Still surprisingly quiet even with a blown exhaust.
  11. I can't understand why folk buy ready mixed screen wash. Wow it states good for upto and I stress UPTO -10°c. Rubbish. Buy a quality product which is a concentrate. Mix your own. In these very cold wintery conditions you make a 50/50 solution. It's that simple. What did you use in the 2000's? The 1990's etc? Why complain about a water jet nozzle? I've never had such issues. My 15 year old is250 doesn't suffer from blocked jets due to the outside temperature. I'll end this with one word. PRESTONE.
  12. I think you best give it a rest Eric. Your passion is getting a bit tiring.
  13. Yeah that 5.0l V8 is one helluva reliable lump. I've seen a video where just for the heck of it a mechanic owner stripped his engine, think it had somewhere along 250k - 300k miles. Conclusion was the engine showed oh so very little wear and tear. It only just looked run in. Excellent video. 👍
  14. WOW Xmas bling to Saabs. What diversity. Only on the best forum 👍
  15. Hi Bishnach. If you're hearing a loud electronic type sound when your car is stationary and pressing the brake then it won't be the caliper. Maybe the brake servo but that's just a guess. Maybe a better recording of the sound with the microphone much nearer the pedals will help us identify the noise.
  16. Eh up David. Blimey you've had your is220d about ten years and only just joined the best Lexus forum there is? Oh well better late than never lol. Welcome. Ask any questions you have in the gen 2 IS section. There's quite a few 220d owners who love their cars.
  17. Oh the infamous Mr Fillingham. Most of his videos are great. He's a former police officer and has given excellent tips. However to me he's a great scare mongerer. I actually unsubscribed to his channel some months ago because of it.
  18. Now now folks. There's been valid points made and points misunderstood. Out of order getting personal I know I've got a lifetime warning on here for that. For now and the near foreseeable EV's are ruddy expensive for what they are. Quite a few on the roads and for many various reasons. There is a place for them but ice cars rule. As for environmental issues. Ruddy he'll what energy is expended in extracting the rare minerals etc to make batteries. Yes lots of energy expended on getting oil from the ground but I think drilling for oil costs less than digging for rare minerals and I don't care what the so called experts say (they're in someone's pocket each and every one of them, the bent barstewards). Everyone's got an opinion wether good or bad. That's life. As for the video with the subaru. I think there are one or two EV's that could do that But they cost over 100k. How many is250's can 100k buy? Emphasising the virtues of a brand of car on another brands forum time and time again is silly and bordering on stupid.
  19. Hi Owen and welcome to Lexus ownership. To get an answer to your question I suggest you go to the RX section of the forum. There you'll find very knowledgeable owners. Enjoy your new steed.
  20. You know what Rowley it won't be as bad a departure from your superb is250 to the equally superb RX400h. I had the 450h and yes I miss it. Getting in and out oh so easy and comfortably. Fuel consumption about on par with each other. You'll still have the lovely sound of the V6. I hope you find a good example and try for the SE-L as that'll have ML and backup camera. Footprint wise both cars cover roughly the same floor area with the RX just a tad longer.
