  1. Sumitomo. They bought out Dunlop decades ago. Not sure nowadays. Just brought a smile to my face seeing that word Sumitomo. Had mates working at the Dunlop factory in Manchester and loved it. They soon moved on with the takeover.
  2. Don't blame you Ahmed. The stuff is basically for cars with well known over heating problems like the Triumph Stag.
  3. That looks like the temperature gauge plug John.
  4. Just came across this thread and really surprised that the AA man did NOT recommend a new battery. That's one of their profit making scams ooops I mean errrr scam? They tested alternator? They fobbed you off more like. Just goes to show a poor battery Will muck up a cars electrics.
  5. I recall those reminder stickers but nowadays garages test the water in the expansion tank to see if the water needs changing or not.
  6. From memory John the plug is on the left side (positive +ve battery terminal side). Its on the outside of the casing so it's easier to have the battery out so that the casing can be manipulated and the plug made easy to access.
  7. Dya know what. Yes 5p a litre off. 20 litres is £1. 40 litres is £2. I don't find that a good enough money off thing.
  8. Can't see the waterless coolant having any detrimental effects. Ed China has kind of recommended it. Trouble is if you've got it in your car and took it to service and forgotten to mention it then they either top it up with 'normal' coolant or flush it out and replace with 'normal' coolant. When I looked at the stuff it was quite expensive.
  9. Pure misinterpretation of the word cover. I took it to mean a top or lid. John's car does indeed have the (correct term) shroud.
  10. Pics from is250's for sale on auto trader. Even on Google no is250's with a battery cover.
  11. Funny how we all seem to see the same YouTube videos. Why I watched this a few days ago was because it's based on the Rover SD1 which happens to be my most favourite car (yes I've had one many years ago and am hankering after another one) There's 2 parts to this video.
  12. To put a cat amongst the pigeons. I replaced the wipers on my is250 2 years ago with items bought from ebay. Unbranded. But fit like a glove. No squeaks or smudge lines. 12 quid a pair rings a bell on price. Yes you get what you pay for But there are numerous alternatives that are every bit as good as the best.
  13. That looks like it could be the temp sensor.
  14. Yeah I watched that video just the other day. Surprised how the head and cams looked when the cam covers were removed. And yes. Look after your car and it'll look after you.
  15. The heat sensor is located on the left hand side, as you look at it, of the casing. I've never seen a cover on the battery on any is250.
  16. As true blue stated. Mine is the same. No top cover only the clamp.
  17. Hi Tadas and welcome to Lexus ownership and especially the is250 and to the best Lexus forum there is. As Bilal has stated. Bluetooth was only standard on face-lift cars. Its easy enough to do. In the armrest cubby hole there's a 12v power supply and a 3.5mm phone jack socket. Look on ebay for a Bluetooth adapter and a shallow cigarette with USB and a 90° USB to USB (need this otherwise the armrest lid won't shut) this is how it looks in mine. As for your other queries Bilal has answered them fully.
  18. Just had a proper look at your car John. Since you don't have headlight washers then you don't have Xenons. Did you get those headlights from Lexus or ebay? It's the bulbous part that confuses me as I associate those with Xenon. I'd check with the supplier as to what bulbs fit.
  19. Blimey John I'm surprised you're asking about upgrading bulbs. I'm sure you've done it before but anyhow the favourite is Osram Night Breakers. But aren't yours Xenons?
  20. If your 12v battery is only 2 years old and losing charge then there's either a power drain happening or the battery is knackered but should be within its own guarantee. I'd start with finding an auto sparky to run tests on power drains.
  21. Bill. Not all Esso E5 is zero ethanol. It clearly says that on its website. Love your 1st paragraph though oh so funny 🤣
  22. WOW 136.9 per litre. Not seen that price for quite a while. I thought the BP nearish me was OK at 146.9 last week.
  23. Yes Peter that's the only downside as from what I've seen most like you gave a gravel drive. Yes expensive and out of reach for all except those with a wad of spare cash.
  24. Well I've been viewing all sorts on YouTube and came across what I think is quite clever. Look at the video below. What do you all think?
