  1. What Gray said above Linas may have been put clearly. Personally I read it as if anyone downloaded it on any works computer. That is a company practice, and especially a security company, a standard practice. I know of someone who many years previously downloaded porn on his computer, which was in a private limited access room, and that many years later got sacked for it. It's quite difficult for me personally to find a genuine sale on Facebook market place. I don't mind that. Apart from the sale of cars I was gobsmacked to see how many scams are on the dating sections. Geez it's like 99.999% scam from what I've seen.
  2. Hi Tom and welcome to the best Lexus forum there is. You're dead right. The 2is is getting older but so are you and we all. The 2is however is undoubtedly one of the greatest cars ever built. If you're prepared to look after one then it'll out live you. It's that simple. By look after it I mean treat it as you'd treat your child, for instance. Yes you could spend a few hundred quid a year on one But just think. How much to buy a much newer car? About a couple decades ownership of a 2is worth that's how much.
  3. What? Lexus Direct are charging £950 for an alternator? That's effin Outrageous. I paid a little over £800 for supply and fit at Lexus Stockport. Something very very wrong with LD charging that.
  4. Eh up MrT. Sorry to learn about your car issues. As stated above 500rpm is too low and no matter what car that'll not be good for it. I can't remember how to alter the idle revs but it certainly looks like it needs doing. As for the recon alternator you bought. Personally I'd have gone for a genuine one. If I remember correctly the one I had to get was around £360 or there abouts. Don't know how much you paid for your recon but I bet it was near that. Regards buying a new battery. One should Always put it on charge with a smart charger before installing it in ones car. Especially if bought from Halfords.
  5. Absolutely there's a load of scams on Facebook. I've personally reported 12 so far in just 2 days. How do I know they're scams? Because my Internet security tells me and I pass that info to Facebook. They've responded to each report I've made with thanks. What they'll do about those posts I've reported we'll have to wait and see.
  6. After reading a post that there's an is350 for sale on Facebook market place I thought I'd have a look. I'm not on Facebook so I had to make an ID up to view. What boggled my mind was How the Hell are is300h's on there for between £3&4k? These cars must be missing a 1 in front of them. 64 plate and newer I saw and was gobsmacked. As Rasta Mouse says 'whagwahn' what's going on. I can only assume that Facebook have missed a 1 in front of the prices or they're all a con and spam of sorts. What do you regular Facebook uses say?
  7. Check the legality of converting to LED. This is because the headlight lens is Not designed to work with any other bulb except the ones installed from new. Your best bet is to look for used headlights of which there are a few online. I think someone on here has a pair still fir sale.
  8. Oh Stephen you're so vain lol. Crickey that should be a song title 😁
  9. Being born in 62 I can't comment on the 60's really but I love watching television from the 60's. Miniskirts oh yes lol. Loved the 70's as a growing kid.
  10. Hi Kalpesh. If you're Rochdale side of Bolton and you see a car you fancy and want an experienced Lexus owner to come along and advise then feel free to message me. You've had excellent response to your enquiry. And you have a healthy budget. Since 8k is your top number I suggest look at a 6k car with a very good body and service history and you'll have 2k to make it perfect.
  11. Sorry Lucas you're one decade out lol. The 80's were the best by far. Much less traffic on the road which meant we could ride our motorbikes like we stole them and not have to worry about the knobheads in their jam jars knocking us off. Plus Metal came of age. The Best music by far. It was in the 90's that I started to have accidents and that's thanks to the increase of cars on the road and the decade I unfortunately lost a few best friends coz of those knobheads. As for cars. Rover was the best bang fir buck. Also the incomparable Audi UR Quattro and yes I had one for 7 years.
  12. Hi Derek. Yes the is300h is quite low for those with 'dodgy' knees. The UX is a fabulous car and I'm sure you'll love it more than the 300h. Don't worry about your new steed being white. A dirty white car looks really good, in my opinion anyway.
  13. What a bone of contention getting an 'old' car serviced at its main dealership. Personally speaking I will Always take a Lexus to Lexus for its servicing and MOT. It's because I was loyal to Lexus Stockport that they gave me a new UX250H free of charge for FOUR days when they replaced the faulty alternator on my beloved is250. To you sceptics. Would your independent do that? I doubt very very very much they would. Simple thing is. You Get What You Pay For. Pay peanuts you get monkeys working on your car. As for installing a dash cam into a car. Unless one is unfortunately disabled then why can't one fit it ones self?
  14. Hi Paul. How are the phone numbers displayed on your phone. i.e. do they start with a Zero or +44? If zero then you'll have to go through your phones numbers and replace the zero with +44. After that all messages will appear. It's unfortunate this has to be done but its the only way. I found this out a number of years back when I had the same issue with an is300h premiere. Took it to Lexus and a tech sorted it for me. He told me what needed to be done.
  15. Hi Lex. An good thanks. Not seen you on here for a while. I'm missing my beloved is250 after writing it off. As stated above yes charge the batter ideally with a smart charger. The reconnect the battery and your car should start but with probably some lights on your dash. Your car should have enough battery power to get you to a garage you trust to fit a genuine Toyota/Lexus alternator. I charged the one on mine and it got me 18 miles to the Lexus dealer. A competent mechanic should be able to change the alterations. If you feel confident then first have a look where it is and how accessible it is. From what I remember it's not an easy job.
  16. Hi Lex. I'm sorry to tell you that I had Exactly that and it was indeed the Alternator. Considering the age of your car too its the Alternator gone. I managed to get mine to Lexus to sort as I was desperate because I was going away that day. It cost £800 but I did get a free loan car for actually 4 days.
  17. It's a sad world we live in Iftikar that folk go out of their way to waste time of others who could be doing something else. It's good that you are now not in a rush to sell. Good excuse to keep it eh?
  18. Hi Jason. As for anti rattle shims. I recommend you ask in the GS section of the forum where fellow owners will help. Not all members look in the New Members section.
  19. Hi Jason. Good that you've got your car back. As for a subscription to techstream I don't think it's needed. As for TPMS sensors always buy genuine for the car. The dealer will ask you for the reg number and get the correct ones and they shouldn't need setting. My only experience with this was recently with my temporary Ford. I bought 4 new ones and they didn't need setting.
  20. Yeah things were different 2019 and before covid reared it's ugly head. I've never bought a car privately. Always from a dealer. Worst loss was with my first ever Lexus. £5k after 5 weeks of ownership. Best was the car I part ex'd for. I didn't lose 1p on the deal. Didn't make anything either lol. I will however make on my current car which I got below market value. It will be part ex'd for a Lexus when the time comes.
  21. I think a good flushing of the cooling system is in need then new coolant used.
  22. I forget the mileage on my beloved is250 was but it was very close to 100k miles. It was an 07 car and was on its original exhaust system. It was even still in tact after I wrote it off with the rear end mullered. I suppose with exhaust systems it depends on how the car is used. Atmospheric conditions etc etc. Sometimes an owner is lucky and some others are not. Once a hole appears then sods law states more will appear sooner than later. No point patching as its wasted money and time.
  23. Yes Len I agree that only one rear fog light can be misconstrued as a motorbike. Unfortunately I see too many vehicles on the road with an offside rear light out in the dark. Worst case was only yesterday when I was confused as to what was in front of me. A van with no lights on and a low vehicle behind it with only a nearside light on. I got to within a few feet of it before it was actually a van on a trailer being towed by a van. The reflectors on the van being towed were not apparent. Oh the joys of night driving. Not!
  24. Dealers will take any car as a part ex if it means a sale. The mark-up on a car they put on covers the cost of a 'cheap' part ex. Sorry to learn of your loss Zorny. I feel your pain and my father's been gone 10 years now. Because you're selling the car I recommend you post some photos both external and interior. I'm sure even someone here would buy it. All the best to you and your siblings.
