I may have got something wrong Linas with regard vacuum loss. It was more to do with pressure loss because of the copper looking gauze. I'll have to find that video and post it. However fitted an oil catch can on the is250 does I deed require the pipe going to it needs taking off. The OCC connects to the two now loose openings. Helluva fidly job I found when I took the PCV valve off to replace it with a new one which typically had a slight different thread so couldn't be used. Mine rattled as it should and actually looked quite clean which surprised me so I re fitted it. -

Today I watched a YouTube video on why Not to fit a catch can. It's to do with the loss of vacuum in the system that over a shortish time dilutes the oil and wrecks the engine. Another video showed they're very good for cars driven hard all the time like race cars. -
Shahpor I forgot to mention that hydrogen filling stations would more likely be at hubs where HGV park/deliver. Council yards too. WOW Graham. Excellently put. An eye opener about the cost of putting a bank of EV chargers. The supply of the electricity too in that the aged cables that are running electricity through will also need uprating to a much higher capacity. That alone I'd Imagine costing Billions.

Yes very Interesting and full of other stories as if that The Driven is actually a bed for EVangelists. Funny how I've read articles contradicting that one. I really should save what I read. -
Well I read an article on Google. The author is an established motor columnist. Written a couple of car books. You know the sort. His article was titled 'is hydrogen the answer'. Ruddy long article but it actually made sence. The gist was that for cars No. For logistics Yes. He stated that to make a hydrogen fuel station, like a petrol station, would cost £2 million. That's for just one station. That fact I found quite unbelievable. Another interesting point was that to deliver that hydrogen to the stations needs transport. Hang on I thought. How the hell does petrol get to to the stations. His I suppose conclusion was the hydrogen for cars won't happen but for trucks trains ships planes logistics basically hydrogen is the answer. So that would mean having a large number of filling stations. If there's going to be lots of filling stations then why not have hydrogen powered cars. Makes sence yes? What he said was overall quite right. Only wish I could find that article. I think it was on Fifth Gear Recharged. Buying an EV 2nd hand. How are the batteries? 3 cars were tested. The Nissan, the very first ev put on the road, a tesla model s and one I've forgotten. The cars were of different ages but each had done over 100k miles. The Nissan lost around 12-25%. The tesla. Wow. This surprised me. Only lost 3-5%. The third car was surprisingly lowish also.

came across this video. I thought what a good video as it kinda shows extremes between EV and Diesel and what each is actually capable of. -
Gang. You quoted me about its a no brainer wish I had the funds. You then went off on a tangent. You seem to have an EV and the superb is300h. You seem to me to be an EVangelist with the way you state things on this thread. I'd actually like to have the Mirai But I'm not in the wealth category to afford one. A reason why hydrogen cars aren't really available here in Blighty is because there's hardly any fill up stations here, 7 I think, and there are too many 'experts' who dumb down the idea of hydrogen. Some countries actually have a decent percentage of hydrogen cars. Your EV you obviously like and that screenshot you posted means didlysquat to me because your car from its inception cost 70X more pollution than what was produced by a petrol car. There are arguments a plenty about the pros and cons of EV'S. All I'll say is when the electricity system fails and we're in blackouts because there are too many EV charging and you're stuck I'll still be trundling along in my wonderful V6 is250 🙂

I've been using night driving glasses for a couple of decades. I swear by them. Started using them when I was 40 now 60 and love 'em. Some knock them for unsubstantiated reasons. The only downfall with polarised lenses is they kind of blur digital displays.
-
Oh. That's less than I saw a couple weeks ago. I like the Mirai. There's something about it. It looks great especially in that metallic red. Road tests I've seen praise the car highly.

Insurance testimonials?
Mr Vlad replied to Mr_Groundhog's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Yes absolutely. Adrian Flux are cowboys. Always the dearest and the so called customer service is a farce as in its full of liars. -
Really? I didn't know that but didn't James May actually buy one outright? There are or were a few for sale on autotrader.

Insurance testimonials?
Mr Vlad replied to Mr_Groundhog's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
As stated above somewhere. Insurance companies show no loyalty anymore. Last year was the first time in decades I paid under £500. This year about £425 with the RAC. Now then. Comparison sites showed RAC near 500. Martin Lewis site however 425. I don't expect it'll be RAC cheapest but I look 4 weeks before my insurance is due. Unfortunately one has to spend half a day looking at All the comparison sites and insurance companies directly who aren't on comparison sites. -
That engine conversion to hydrogen has been out a while. There's a video on YouTube by a smart Alec dismissing it as viable in a car. I'd love to find that video but where that smart Alec ucked up was he compared that hydrogen engine But in the RCF against the Toyota Mirai. Its because the size of tank to run the RCF will be so big there wouldn't be any passenger room. However that hydrogen V8 in a large car let's say a LC700h then that would work. In fact any car the same size as the Mirai or bigger. No brainer in my book. Just wish I had the funds. Ho hum.

I don't think petrol or diesel prices will reach a point where one needs to rob a bank to pay for it John. You should send that link for hydrogen news to Malc. Am seeing more and more comparison between EV and ICE and slowly but surely a trend if forming about the date when ICE sales is banned. I'm thinking that date is decades away. -

Don't think it'll be as bad as that John. There will be far too many of us still driving our cars in 20 years that the authorities can't do diddlysquat against. Up the Revolution -

Yes more and more stories like this are coming out of the woodwork. It was asked above what happens if an EV runs out of electricity. Well for one it can Not be towed because that wrecks the electric motors. They have to be lifted onto a flat bed truck. And yes there are vans with the capability to charge an EV. I've actually seen a couple. Now that could be a very profitable business having a van with a very good generator to charge run down EV'S. -
Yes I googled Lexus crisps and was really surprised how many types of crackers they make.

Well said Paul. Took some thought writing your post and giving the example of a relative of yours. Thanks for that input. Appreciated. -
