  1. Well this video is a corker. And highlights perfectly what's wrong with electric vehicles.
  2. Update. I've not looked at the front wheels today because of the light on the dash telling me to take the handbrake off even tho it is off so I adjusted the cable at the pedal end and serviced the rear brakes, slider lubing etc. Anyway took the car for a thrash to bed the brakes in and see if I can leave any black lines due to really heavy braking. Could feel the anti lock working which was a ruddy good sign. Basically drove like a nob over road bumps like they weren't there trying to provoke a dash light. No dash lights. Handbrake light goes off when I take the break off so what I did yesterday in unplugging the wheel sensor plugs and back all seems well so far.
  3. I checked the wiring yesterday. The sensor end is easy access but the other end is behind the wheel arch liner. I don't have a manual. I used techstream to get to the fault codes. I'll have to look how to test the sensor. Also get to the other end of the wire to test it. I've seen a video of an is250 owner who had the same issue. It's because of him I'm looking into it. His solution was renewal of a wire as it was broke at the sensor end. Broke as in snapped off.
  4. My car is a 2007 model with 91k miles now. Seen a couple YouTube videos one with an is250 who had the same code. So I took both front wheels off and checked the plug and wire to the sensor which is in the hub and they seemed well. Gonna have a drive with my laptop with me and clear the codes first then see if they pop up again. The two codes correspond to wheel speed sensor which is also the ABS sensor I think.
  5. Well a reason my dash lights up is because of those two codes. Both front wheel speed sensors. Nice NOT. They're built into the hubs. Over 400 quid a lexus parts direct but a helluva lot cheaper on ebay and from reliable sources (I've actually bought from one of them and no complaints). I'm a little concerned regarding part numbers. The OEM part numbers match except for the last digit. Are both left and right hubs the same? Has anyone changed hubs? I've seen it's relatively easy. Just which ones to get.
  6. Hi Ciaran. August just gone when my is250 went in for its annual service I asked them to change the rear diff oil. You know what? I wasn't charged. The year earlier I asked if they'd change the gearbox oil. They said its sealed for life. I very gently argued and the service desk guy went to see the main tech guy. I was charged £180 to change just under 2 litres of oil.
  7. You know what. Mentioning the invasion of Ukraine. A country my mother came from and I have quite a lot if family there. Ivecresd a few threads in this thread I started and read with utter disgust. Get this subject out of my thread and start your own totally misguided misinformed and disgusting thread elsewhere. You really Have PI##ED me off. I've lost cousins in this effin invasion.
  8. Right. I've just spent a ruddy good hour watching one of the best YouTube videos. I've posted from this guy recently. A Porsche Cayman EV owner. Please DO watch this video. Yes it's just shy of an hour But it's got some excellent points and not just about EV ownership. Get ya pop and popcorn at the ready and enjoy.
  9. Some very interesting points. The one that got me tho is the glue that bonds the carcass of the battery pack. I've not read too much into battery recycling but the way technology is moving I personally think in a few years it will become relatively easy. Now what's wrong with electric cars. Does anyone remember a TV programme a few years back where this Welsh firm converts classic cars to electric? Well I really liked that programme and how it was done. He's got a YouTube channel now and the last one was OMG EVangelistic. He asked the question how long does it take to fill up an EV compared to a petrol car? He first did an average calculation on how many miles a week does a car travel. Then with that figure calculated how much fuel needed at an average mpg. They then went to a petrol station and times how long to put enough petrol in and pay for it. Under 5 minutes. Now then back to the workshop the guy then said start the stopwatch when I first touch the charge lead. 4 seconds later he said there you go. 4 seconds to fill up. The rest of the rest of the time whilst it's charging is free time. Now is that oh so ruddy stupid nonsense or what. Just goes to show the utter blinkeredness of some so called experts.
  10. OMG you really HAVE to watch this. Absolute gem
  11. I'm a novice with techstream. Only downloaded it this week. But it can do quite a bit.
  12. Platform shoes. Now that takes me back.
  13. https://www.jcb.com/en-gb/news/2022/10/wraps come off hydrogen refueller as jcb unveils industry first Well I never. Just read this article and well done JCB 👍
  14. Bernard I don't have a hydrodream as you put it. I'm a lifetime petrol head even tho I've had 4 diesel cars. I do have an Interest in different forms of powering a car. I've looked at EV'S but to me even though they make sense are uneconomical. Where my greater Interest lays is in hydrogen power. The Toyota Mirai to me is a stunning looking car and it is it's engineering that took hold of me. Until, if ever, I win a substantial sum on the lottery my is250 will keep me mobile. Oh and if I'm lucky my garage would have a UX250H and a RCf and my is250 which I'd modify.
  15. Sorry Bernard but that video is over a year old and basically useless. Things have moved on at a huge amount where hydrogen manufacture is concerned. Blimey they're making the stuff with sea water and not using the amount of energy needed a year ago.
  16. Yes Linas assuming the package doesn't get thrown about etc. Unfortunately our packages do get thrown about but if well packaged then no item damage should occur. Example I get my fuel additives sent to me. Des. I suggest you get a box the size which you can stand the 6 bottles upright and the space around them you can scrunge up 2 or 3 layers of bubble wrap. Make sure 2 layers bubble wrap at the base of the box and again at top of bottles. The lid of the box should be a snug fit. Basically once packaged you box shouldn't rattle when you shake it. If it does rattle then open it and bung more bubble wrap (or old newspaper or amazon filler paper) then seal the box and shake to see if it rattles. If it doesn't then simply take it to your post office. If they ask what it is say its a wooden model or similar. Basically don't tell whichever courier you use what it it.
  17. Excellently explained Herbie 👍
  18. I'd get advice from an International forwarding company. I used to work for one about 12 years ago now and some fluid were accepted like water for example. Things like perfume wasn't as it was a fire risk.
  19. So what that guy only covered 2.3k miles in his new car. When you buy new you expect everything in that car is new. Fact is tho things like batteries and brake pads are bought in bulk as they fit many models. As for new batteries dying due to lack of use I'm not buying that. I bought my car 2nd hand. Actually I'm it's 2nd owner. Last year I had to buy a new battery but I needn't have bothered as it was my alternator which died. I've still got that old battery and in a year of it out of the car it's not lost 1 volt. Goes to show not all batteries are the same and that branded ones aren't always the best. That guy was well in his rights. That dealer should be shot. Good to see you back John. Hope you've gotten over what was ailing you.
  20. How are the wheel bearings? Just a thought as worn and dry ones create a lot of heat which I'm sure you know.
  21. Thanks Herbie. When using it should the check engine light be on when techstream is on?
  22. I've just watched an interesting video. and from an EV tesla owner
  23. Ok boys. Got Techstream up and running and connected to my car and followed the prompts to recognise my car. However I've got stuck on the last point. See pic below and please tell me which version to click on. Sorry for the poor quality of the pic.
  24. Interesting articles Steven. Blimey global transportation chucks out billions of tons of CO2. That's only a fraction what heavy industry produces. (might have got the billions bit wrong but ruddy lots). Isn't it funny within that article it stated China produces less CO2 than expected and less than Canada and the US. To me those kind of articles are blinkered and oh so misleading. No wonder things are going to the dogs.
