  1. Hi Lex. So your car drives fine as it should. Have you experimented and deliberately tried to skid your car? Does the ABS come on when you brake hard. Have you tried going round a roundabout quicker than normal to induce a slide? I've had to do similar and ABS kicked in as did stability control. Cleared the codes with techstream and no more lights on dash.
  2. It's ok. I suggest you look in the GS section of the forum. There you'll find great people to advise you on the GS450h. As for a battery change. Only the 12v one would need charging around 5-8 years. The main traction battery should be fine for decades. Go to the GS section for much more information than I can give.
  3. Hi Thimmy. I didn't know your cupra was a station wagon (estate here in England). Sweden must charge more for used Lexus. Have a look in the UK version of Auto Trader for comparison. Both IS cars are great for long distances. As for audio best go for Premier trim. They have Mark Levinson system and it's outstanding. The GS450h would be the one to go for. You've knocked the price down quite a lot. Plus it's oh so relaxing to drive and shifts when you press the gas pedal. Of the 3 models you've highlighted only the is250 has a proper automatic gearbox. The other 2 are CVT. So bear that in mind.
  4. Eric Len and whoever else. Don't post on this thread if you're going to use words like Conspiracy, Theory, Nazi, Crime and all forms of that word, Bill Gates, ULEZ, Speed zones, LTN areas etc. I've started a new thread What's Wrong With Conspiracy Theory and that's the thread to post things like that on. This thread is purely on what's wrong with electric vehicles and nothing to do with governments etc. Failure to adhere to my request and I'll get this thread shut down. That would be a shame for the sake of 'arguments ' spoiling a good debate. Thank you.
  5. Now this is an excellent video and is a by product of what's wrong with electric vehicles.
  6. Eh up Eric. Excellent post. I was going to start another thread regarding conspiracies etc but now I may not. Your post also made me laugh. It's great how things get muddled misconstrued etc. Mmmmmm I've just had a swig of coffee and decided that yes I will start a thread on conspiracies. As I think it'll be a guddun.
  7. Hi Thimmy and finally welcome to the best Lexus forum there is to which I know you know it is. I'm a little surprised that you think the is250 is a little small because you have a Seat Cupra. If you feel that then surely the is300h felt a little small yes? Which leaves the GS450h. If physical size is important the the GS is the one to go for. To put it bluntly it'll wipe the floor with the Seat hands down.
  8. Dya know what. This thread is titled What's The Problem With Electric Vehicles. It's got a lot of relevant posts but unfortunately, in my eyes, too many irrelevant posts. Things like consistency theories and criminality. ULEZ zones and speed limits. 15 minutes time zones in some towns and cities. Those kind of posts need their own thread. I won't be starting it because I can't be bothered. So go on and start one and please stop posting irrelevant things in this thread. It's tiresome and getting boring. And on a lighter note. Just before I watched a video from someone I watch from time to time. He's a proper EVangelist. He was giving us a 3 year from new review on his Tesla model 3. It was enlightening. On his model the warranty is 50k miles and 5 years. Pretty poor that I think. There's hardly any personal touch as in face to face contact with the dealer. When he first saw his car a panel gap on the rear bumper stood out like a sore thumb. We'll fix that sir they said. Few weeks later they went to his house to fix the issues. Oh panel gap was wide at the top and very thin at bottom. They got the measure out and because it was within tolerance there was nothing they could do. How rubbish is that? And months to fix the infotainment screen.
  9. Another excellent post Bill. Sorry I had to laugh out loud with the last line. It brought back a TV programme I, and possibly you, watched some decades ago. Citizen Smith: Power To The People 🤘
  10. Hi Bobby. There's a possibility there's a Bluetooth adapter connected by a previous owner. It'll be located behind the satnav unit. Try connecting to it by switching the unit on. I think you have to then press the CD button on Twice. Turn the Bluetooth on on your phone and let the phone search for the Bluetooth adapter. A pop-up will hopefully appear simultaneously on your phone and the satnav screen. Try using code 0000 or 1111. There's plenty on this forum on how to connect a Bluetooth adapter on the older RX. Try what I've suggested and if that fails then search here in this forum for 'adding Bluetooth connectivity '
  11. Blimey Eric you ain't arf painting a recession type picture. Doom and gloom. I'm seeing you as a Mr Angry character. Passionate yes to beyond that and ki d of blinkered as you read a post but pick at it the parts you kind of twist. Its a shame because of your professional insight to batteries is very welcome.
  12. Excellent post Bill. Yes you do feel you have to repeat yourself Eric. The Lithium production malarkey has sparked many an argument and discussion. Maybe thstsxwhy an alternative to Lithium for batteries is being developed by a few companies and that can't be a bad thing can it? No. Furthering the element of what's wrong with EV's and them igniting in flames. One fire service is now using a bath to put the initially extinguished vehicle into this bath and give it a constant shower. So basically an EV that has caught fire is an utter write off and not a lot of it can be recycled. So from that EV's are not very ecological are they. At least a burnt out ICE car the metal can be recycled.
  13. You know what Samantha you're right. What's all the malarkey about. I've seen articles saying that those plastic pipes aren't up to the job for hydrogen as the particles are so much smaller than natural gas that hydrogen can seep through the plastic. Geez there's too much negatively towards anything nowadays.
  14. No problem Lee. I think you're relatively close to me in Rochdale and our weather is more dull than not. As for the sprays I use CRC as I found it got the best reviews from different articles. Got mine from ebay.
  15. Interesting link you posted Bernard. That's the kind of link an EVangelist would post. WOW 8kg of lithium in a 75Kw battery? If I remember right I read somewhere that a young life is lost in the mining of just 10kg of lithium. Going back to that unfortunate incident in Goi in 2004. Oh yes oil companies have an effing shed load of explaining to do regarding their ignorance towards life over profit. And yes Eric nothing at all logical about the worlds banning sales of new ice vehicles. Its good that a few countries have spoken out and the planned year of banning new ice sales is kind of stalled and looks to be put back who knows how many more years. EV's are Not the answer. ICE vehicles aren't the answer either. Hydrogen will have its influence as will possibly Methane and fusion developed electricity. Each will have their merits oh as will synthetic fuel which Porsche are well into. ICE vehicles are here to stay. And I for one will be driving one till I give up my licence in about 30 years or sooner depending on my health.
  16. Ah Alan I've noticed you have the is300h. Now because it's a hybrid going to an independent may be risky if they don't know how to service the hybrid part. Some on here with the same car go independent for general servicing but then go to a Lexus dealer for the hybrid health check which is around £60 maybe more so factor that in your total cost. It may well be cheaper at Lexus as the hybrid health check is included in the price. As for the rear brake calipers I don't think the is300h has that issue.
  17. That's one of the very best posts I've read Bill. Superbly put. Right down the middle and oh so true. 👍
  18. https://news.sky.com/story/mounted-police-gallop-after-driver-using-phone-at-the-wheel-12836021 Try this. Well spotted David. It's comical.
  19. OMG I can't believe I've just seen this. I'm in shock. John was a cracking bloke. He'll be missed by all of us. R.I.P my friend. It was a pleasure exchanging posts with you.
  20. Well said Eric. That Barnard bloke. I'd love to fire a bullet though his head. What a self centred pillock. Watched a Scotty Kilmer video earlier about a bee em M3 6 potter. He actually loves that car. Anyway he said some ruddy good stuff. EV'S are Not the answer. He likes the idea of Hydrogen and what an Australian university is doing with salt water to make hydrogen. He even mentioned Methane.
  21. Ebay links have been posted a helluva lot of times Ahmed so no need to worry. Goodonya Shahpor 👍
  22. Nice one Ahmed. Can you provide a link to where you got them?
  23. Hi Lee. Do Not use WD40 on the MAF sensor. Use a dedicated spray. As for the throttle butterfly valve. Unplug the multiplug first before you touch the butterfly. Otherwise it'll screw up what the ECU sees and really make the car run rough. Use a dedicated spray for the butterfly. Let the MAF dry in air. Do Not touch the thin wires. Oh don't forget to plug it back when it's dry and you've put it back in its housing. I forgot and my car ran like pooh. Once you've cleaned the items and you start the car there's a chance the revs are high. They were on mine. I did a post on Throttle body Re Learn. I'm krap at finding posts but look it up. It'll save headaches.
  24. It depends on how old your car is. Has it got a full dealer service history. My car is 16 years old. I'm the 2nd owner. It was bought with a full dealer service history so I've kept it going. On a service plan. MOT included and a free loan car. Beats any independent in my book.
