You've not looked enough John. There are a number of videos on YouTube on how to replace the grill on an is250.
-
Like I said John. The copy version of techstream doesn't connect to combination meter or gateway that's why I suggested clicking on the Health Check scan. It may well be an idea to source replacement stalks ot take yours off and inspect them as something may have come adrift in the stalk mechanism. It certainly sounds like a mechanical issue rather than an electrical one. Example. What does one do when a light goes out in a room? Bulb checks out OK. You know the power source is OK and the wiring is OK so what's left? The switch. It can work sporadically and not at all. Our is250's are absolutely superb cars but sometimes a bugging electrical fault happens. I've had a couple which are well documented here in this forum. Source replacement stalks, you may aswell get both sides. You perhaps could swap stalks with your friend just to confirm one way or the other it's the stalks.

Which. Supermarket petrol quality: what you need to know

Interesting Phil. Did you not have to join Costco before you started fuelling up there? Strange how in your E10 compatible car you find it's fuel consumption is poorer using E10 compared to E5. My not compatible E10 car gives better fuel but I use an additive to counteract the effects of the ethanol. -
Hi John and welcome to the best Lexus forum there is. Unfortunately you've an issue with your car which is not common. You've done the correct thing by getting techstream. Have you done the Health Check test? This tests every ecu in the car and reports DCT codes. It takes a while to do the test. As for connecting to the combination meter and gateway. I'm not sure you can on the copy version of techstream. One thing you could do before anything else is disconnect the battery and leave it 45 minutes. Reconnect and see how you go. You'll have to reprogram the windows and sunroof and possibly the radio so make sure you have its code. I take it you don't have any lights on the dash such as warning lights.

Nice one Linas for finding that video on that Most Fantastic piece of superb British engineering. I've been to see that rope way. I've known about it since I was 12 when I learnt about it in my 1st year of secondary school. Thats a superb optical illusion David. One of many. It takes great skill to draw something like that.

Ahhh good shout Christian. I like that show. I forgot they have one late May. I'll be there.

Blimey that's cheap compared to genuine. I got genuine couple years back at just over £600 the pair fitted. What's your thoughts on my comment about that centre bolt hitting the chassis when suspension is at max travel?
-
In the first video I'm drawn to the Nut in the centre of the new bush. Something In the back of my head tells me that a slight modification needs to be done on a chassis part in that a small section needs rounding out. That Nut to me seems to be banging on that part of chassis when the suspension is on max travel. I'm sure I've read on here somewhere that a little section of chassis needs removing. Out of interest how much did you pay for new rear shock absorbers? Did you get genuine Lexus or copy ones?

Hydrogen (H2) started before and is working now.
Mr Vlad replied to Las Palmas's topic in Lexus Owners Club Lounge
There are a few collaborations starting up it looks like. Honda and GM are collaborating into hydrogen fuel cell research. Hobday and GM already have plans to release a CR-V car powered by hydrogen fuel cell next year. This info came from a motorcycle publication. So things are looking well for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. -
Hi Lex. Because of the 1210 code use the Health Check page. When I did mine that code wouldn't clear on the VSC page. I did however have to do it twice even on the Health Check page.

I can't remember the last time I used a 'normal ' petrol station. I've been using either Asda or Tesco as I've one of each within 1 mile of where I live. I'd say most folk use a supermarket for fuel for economic reasons. Running a car is getting more expensive year on year so folk just find the cheapest fuel they can. -

Who knows Malc. The way car manufacturers are joining forces on some models could lead to a collaboration between RR and Lexus 🤔 -
Yes that's the one.

Are those the only lights on the dash? No lights to the left? The symbol on techstream to clear codes looks like an old British single cylinder bike engine. Go through Health Check, yes it takes ages, and find that symbol. Like I said that 1210 code could take two attempts to clear. Yes when I had my last series of lights on the dash which was a faulty ABS unit my car drove as normal as normal is. Its just seeing those lights that puts you off.
-
Hi Lex. I clicked on that screen shot image and enlarged it but it became illegible but just tried again and clear as day. Not the best page to screen shot. With you having the C1336. Just what warning lights are showing on your dash? C1336 is quite a broad reading. Includes accelerator sensor, ABS issue, steering yaw fault etc. You've done the health check scan using techstream but did you click on the engine looking symbol bottom right of the screen? That symbol clears codes. You may have to do it twice because that C1210 code is a swine to clear.

Ahhh you only drive the cat a couple times a week. As Len has stated above. The battery probably doesn't get a 'proper' charge. I second what Len said to get one of those CTEK trickle chargers. Quite a few on here have them and have reported nothing but good results.

There's quite a few threads within the gen 2 IS section of the forum about which battery. Bosch always comes out favourite. 4 years seems too soon for a battery to go for a dump. Is your alternator working properly? Does your car have a parasitic power drain which you're unaware of? I'd get the alternator tested. Mine went on me about a year and a half ago and through desperation took it to Lexus to sort. £800 later my car runs as it should. Yes I paid a lot but I did get a loan car for 3 days at no cost because I went away for a few days.

I moved from Ford to Lexus. From a 1.6 diesel Focus to a lovely is300h premier premium. Unfortunately I couldn't get to grips with the CVT so after 5 weeks I went back to Ford. A Mondeo titanium x sport ecoboost. After about 18 months I went back to an identical is300h but OMG how different the two 300h's were. The first was awful yet the second outstanding. After a year or so I swapped for the F-sport RX450H. Needed extra interior space etc. Because of financial difficulties it had to go so I went back to Ford. A Mondeo titanium x sport 2.2 diesel auto. Fabulous ford's I had but after a year or so I had a hankering to go back to Lexus. I'd always loved the look of the gen 2 IS and I found the car I've had now over three years. So over a good number of years I've pogo'd between Lexus and Ford. Once you've had the best you'll Always go back to it 😁 Oh I've never bought new and never will.

WOW Jeff. I certainly didn't pay anywhere near that price. Petrol stations and motorway service stations are selling night driving glasses. I've never spent more than £15 on them in the decades I've been using them. Each to their own though.
-
Sorry Lex. That's a poor quality screen shot. I can't make any of it out.
-
Dya know what Eric. I think it's about time you left this Lexus forum. Yes you owned a Lexus car but now you don't. So what you're a scientist. Not all scientists are good at what they do. You are slagging off members on this forum with a personal hatred of them. Leave this forum and go spread your poison on a subaru forum. You obviously read other members posts with blinkered vision and totally miss the points those members make. I don't know you but one thing I do know. I really don't like you. To me you are a troll. A phoney. A wind up merchant. I'm going to make an official complaint about you. Just so you know.
-
Renato I have reading glasses only. My distance vision is very good. Yes it's the reduced glare and the yellow tinge that makes things look clearer and makes vision more comfortable. There are two types of night time driving glasses. Polarised and plain. I've had both. I prefer none polarised because I can see my dash and radio and satnav screens clearly.
-
Sorry but I can't provide a name or model of my glasses. The only markings are 7254 CE UK cat 1 Bought them from Abington service station 40 miles from Edinburgh but on sale nationwide.

Sorry Linas I have to disagree with you regarding how used tyres fit the rim etc. In the 80's and 90's part worn tyres were the only ones I bought. Yes premium brands and never below 6mm tread. I never had issues with tyre pressure loss because of poor rim fit. The tyres were like new and the cars they went on were the sports variants and back then I drove like I stole it, oh happy days. Back then part worns were less than half the price of brand new. Nowadays I'd hazard a guess they're 60-75% the price of brand new. I've been buying brand new since the noughties. Excellent, is it, synopsis regarding getting what you pay for re the actual tread depth that's usable.
