  1. You know what. There's far too much BS regarding BEV or nothing. Those who believe that are totally deluded and I'd live to meet up with those half wits and tell them face to face and knock some sense into their numd skulls with my trusty kosh. Diesel cars can't fill up at HGV pumps because the nozzles are much bigger than the car ones.
  2. Sounds a bit steep. I'd go for the recommended garage and save a packet. Lexus dealer need not do things like brakes when basically the owner can do it themselves.
  3. Bodywork a bit floppy? I've Never Ever experienced that in Any car I've had. Oh my car history started with BL Rover cars which have a dodgy manufacturing history lol. I really haven't a clue what you're on about with your car. You sure you're not getting bored with it or something? Geez I'm in my 60's and I've never heard the term my cars Bodywork is floppy. Oh I see redline in my car regularly 😁
  4. Absolutely Lee. Child seats are there for a purpose and should be used without question. Sorry to learn your girls got injured but thanks to your due parental diligence they are well and not seriously hurt. Great to know you will be taking care of by your in-laws close professional friends.
  5. Hi Martin. What do you mean your is250 is getting floppy? If you mean the suspension is getting worn out then simply replace the suspension.
  6. Ruddy ell. Glad to learn you got yourself and your girls out as best you could. Thanks for sharing what can only be described as a traumatic experience with us. Hope you mend well and soon. Hope your daughters weren't injured. As for replacing your car. Yes Insurance won't cover the cost of a replacement But since its the third party's insurance I'd kick off massively for the cost of an equivalent model and same make car. You'll get a good payout for injuries and the inconvenience caused by the dangerous driving of that idiot. Get well soon Lee and we look forward to seeing you back with another is250 soon.
  7. Hi Tom. Bit of a whoopsy by me lol. The nut which was a mere to undo was the bottom nut as in photo 1. What I did was in August 2021 and I posted how to replace the gaitors which were perished. I understand what you say about the possibility of damaging bushings but there's no chance really. The bushings in the top and bottom arms keep those arms in place when the shock absorbers are removed. They stayed in place when I did my job. In fact I had to use a bit of force to get the shockers back on the car. Like I've said. No issues in the over 18 months. I take my car to Lexus for its services and they go over my car with a fine tooth comb so to speak. They like to find faults.
  8. Hi Tom. About a year or so ago I changed the gaitors on the front shockers. It needed removal of the shock absorber. I did it with the car off the ground. No issues with tracking etc etc after the job was done. Sorry only issue was the bolt in your 2nd photo was an utter mare to undo. Ended up taking my car to a local garage for them to undo for me with a blow torch.

  11. Well 4969 that's very interesting info regarding the pink coolant used by Lexus turning acidic after just a few years. Blimey Lexus surely know about this and should have the coolant change in the service schedule every two years. One wonders if it affects the V6's?
  12. Oh that's a #umber. Well at least you have Definate proof copy grills don't fit the convertible. I suppose if your dead set on a f- sport type grill the only option is to change the front end to a 'standard' is250. One wonders if there's a f-sport used bumper on sale somewhere?
  13. I've been wondering about this thread. Collapsing multi storey car parks. Mmmmm I certainly can't remember hearing of this happening. Though I can believe a small percentage were built errrr shall we say by taking short cuts like reduced cement content concrete. That went on a hell of a lot in the 70's 80's and 90's. I know as I was in that industry. As for parking charges. A work colleague was Stunned when he and a few others took 2 trucks to our headquarters in Covent Garden Market. A car park next to it. For 24 hours parking how much? Yes you got it £200. Yes £200. Oh and to enter that market is a fiver even if your collecting from there or delivering. WTF is going on in this ruddy country? That mayor needs horse drawn and quartering for utter treason.
  14. Hi Paul and welcome to the best Lexus forum there is. An excellent choice in the GS450h. The average mpg is petrol usage and traction battery usage so an average of both. As for the fob not operating the boot. Does it lock and unlock the car? If so then it could be a dodgy connection in the fob on that part of the circuit board. Does the button in the dash open the boot? If so then a dodgy fob. If not then an auto electrician needed. Yes your car can run on battery but for only a few miles and at speeds under 30mph. That's what I found when I had the RX450H. As for rust blisters well that depends on how blistered they are. Initially I'd put a rust inhibitor on the affected areas. And yes the 450h cars do crack on quite a bit when you press the loud pedal lol.
  15. Hi Paul and welcome to the best Lexus forum there is and especially to owning the superb is250. You made a great choice. This car because of the way it drives and that sound from its V6 will help you overcome your anxiety and agoraphobia. Every time I drive mine I feel great. I love driving it. Any excuse to get in it and drive it I'm off. So what made you go for the is250? Which spec is it? The only achilies ankle of the car is the sticking rear brake calipers. It's the sliders that seize up due to lack of cleaning and greasing. Have a good read in the gen 2 is section of this forum. Every possible thing you want to know about your car you'll find it there. We're a good bunch of folk here. Don't be shy. Oh we kind of expect photos of the cars the new forum members have.
  16. Hi Jez. I'm no ISf owner and I've not heard of this issue but blimey a poor design. Found this video for you so as you know what's involved. A competent mechanic should be able to do this job. Hope this helps.
  17. Hi John. I've also watched many many videos on swapping the grill to f-sport type. Removing the grill from the car (including from the bumper which the grill is Not attached too btw) is the same as for your car. Front engine cover off. Weather strip off, the videos show at least 2 ways to do that. A clip at each end, clearly shown on videos. A 10mm bolt, or is it nut. It's then a matter off pulling off the whole grill but it takes some doing as the clips seem to be stiff to disengage. As for the grill removal from the shroud. There are 4 to 6 screws and a number of tabs which need manipulating. I see it as a fiddly job But most doable. Just because your car is a convertible I can't see Lexus/Toyota spending millions on tooling for a front grill of a model of car. Can you?
  18. A pet hate of mine is the number of 'experts' who really don't know what they're on about. Please watch the video below. When I took my is250 for its annual service at Lexus Stockport I asked them to do a transmission oil service. Yes they said its not necessarily yada yada but I persuaded them. I was charged £180 for labour and 2 litres of oil. Last year I asked for a diff oil service. To my surprise they did it FOC.

  20. Hi John. I've just noticed this thread. I'd look on YouTube. Look for Marty Motoring. He did a f-sport grill upgrade a couple years back on an is250 he had. Very informative video. I'd use that as a guide as I can't see removal being much different to your car.

There is a dedicated section within this forum for ES owners. Go there and ask other owner members if they've had similar.
  22. Maurice. With the ones you use and them being polarised. Do you still see clearly the instrument panel and dash display? I found with one pair they kind of distorted them i.e. the radio display wasn't distinguishable.
  23. As a former is300h owner I'm rather flabbergasted by your issue Colin. I've had is300h and a RX450h and my driving habit was a 14 mile drive to work which equates to 140 miles a week plus around 80 miles on a weekend. Never had issues with a failed hybrid health check. Perhaps use your car in the week. You don't have to drive far. Take my driving habit as an example. Driving 500km to 'reset' a computer may sound all well and good But if you Only drive at weekends then the same issue will rise again. My advice is replace your is300h with the superb is250. An ideal car for ultra low mileage drivers.
  24. Hi John. From what I've seen then yes the 'whole' grill will need to be removed. That way the individual parts that make up the grill can be disassembled. Ow with your car and mine being oh so different I'd be careful where you get a replacement grill face from. I'm wondering if there was a F-sport variant of your car! If so then that would be the best way to get that look because the fit would be bang on. Getting one of those 'chinese' clone types may not fit at all. However it may be worthwhile to get one of those clone type grills, take yours off, and visually compare the two. Use a measure to. Marry them up to each other. If it looks like it'll fit then hey ho. If not then you always return the item stating it doesn't fit.
  25. Hi John. I didn't realise that the grills are different between a standard is250 and the is250c. Personally I can't see why they did that. Looking at your photos. My inclination is that to separate the grill from the black plastic part you may have to grind down those 'splodges' as they look like a rivet type of fixing. Or those splodges might be like a hot glue or a silicone type glue.
