Check VSC
Mr Vlad replied to Hulley's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Hi Daniel. I actually forgot about this thread. I urge you to get a copy of techstream of ebay. You'll need the dedicated OBD plug. Look on other threads where you see VCS etc and you'll find what you need to get techstream. My thinking is that the fault you are seeing is a historical one. That is there IS'NT a current one. Using techstream you can do a proper scan just as lexus do and clear codes easily. -
What's the problem with electric vehicles
Mr Vlad replied to Mr Vlad's topic in Lexus Owners Club Lounge
This is perhaps the outright Best article on cars to date. Presented articulately and in a language anyone can understand. Mr R Atkinson deserves a huge thanks from us 'petrolheads' and a massive pat on the back. I just hope those thick headed brain dead politicians read that article and take note. -
Hi Simon and finally welcome to the best Lexus forum there is. You took your time didn't you? lol. Good to know you're enjoying ownership of your ES. You're getting very good fuel mileage. Have a look in the dedicated section of this forum. There is an ES section. Introduce yourself there. We are all happy to help where we can.

What's the problem with electric vehicles
Mr Vlad replied to Mr Vlad's topic in Lexus Owners Club Lounge
Absolutely Ed. Vehicles like the twizy would be treated with contempt by a vast majority of car operatives. Note I didn't use the word drivers and that's because only about 20% of those who use cars can call themselves drivers. The other 80% are impatient ignorant and self centred and are a danger on our roads. That's why I stopped using my pushbike for work because it down right dangerous on the roads where I am. -
What's the problem with electric vehicles
Mr Vlad replied to Mr Vlad's topic in Lexus Owners Club Lounge
I really like electric bikes. I'd have one if I could afford one. They've got so much going for them. Once when delivering in Liverpool I saw a thick tyred electric bike and the way he shot off from the lights was amazing. -

Oh dear Gang. I hope you're not admitting to being a nuisance 2 wheeler lol. Enjoy your break (no bones that is). -
Hi Mark. Blimey you really have been busy compiling that MOT failure and advisory list. What I'd say is Yes buy it But for NO MORE than £100. Once in your possession take it and get it weighed in for scrap. You may just triple your money 😁 or if you have the space and mechanical knowhow break it for spares.

Hi Lloyd. By middle daylight running lights. What you're describing is actually your Mainbeam headlight bulbs aren't working. What happens if you pull in the left hand stalk of the steering wheel? The stalk which has the lights on and off and auto.

This post should get you a few free washes eh Brian? lol

Bernard. The first 'thing' you posted about BEV fires. That was dated 2020 December. What bugs the living daylights out of me is the copy n paste brigade. I read that article about 21/2 years ago and again just over a year ago. Not your fault however. This thread is going doolally with all sorts of nonsense. Some do it to wind others up. Some do it coz they're bored merdless etc etc. At the end of the day technology is changing almost every few days with new forms of battery cell structure and hydrogen manufacturing processes becoming cheaper and cheaper. Shame alternatives like synthetic fuel isn't being mentioned as much.

Any update Sman?

Good of you to post this info Steven 👍

Hi Colin and welcome to the best Lexus forum there is. Your question has been answered by PatrikS but before you commit yourself wait for a reply from Linas. He'll give you the lowdown on the car and will either cement your commitment or the complete opposite.

It's getting rather tiresome that some threads go out of keelter (however that's spelt). Battery cell technology is at a very good pace where substitutes for nickel and cadmium and other precious metals are being tested and some good results are coming through. Hydrogen rollout is a definite in a few countries but not here as much unfortunately. Hydrogen for logistics is a Must as battery just isn't good enough by a long chalk. I saw very recently that 2 of the few Hydrogen filling stations in London were being decommissioned. 2 reasons came up. 1 lack of use and 2 for uprating. Time will tell. Synthetic fuel for ice cars is on a slow road and not been heard of recently. There's someone contributing to this thread who reminds me of another none lexus forum member who became obnoxious with his self centred idiosyncratic posts. Is this thread heading towards censorship closure?

Which electric cars are IS 300h owners buying?
Mr Vlad replied to mhult's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Interesting thread you started Mattias. I'll join in as I'm a former keeper of the is300h premier. Superb car from which I went to RX450H as a larger car was needed. Now I'm in the best Lexus I've owned. The is250 and the way I see things is I'll still be in my is250 long after I've retired in 6 or so years. To go EV for me is a very expensive unaffordable luxury which I'll never enter EV ownership. Those with EV's I wish you well and hold no negativity. -
Here's a part of the bill to replace alternator on is250. Clearly shows 3 hours labour at around £129 per hour. I think your lexus dealer got something wrong and you should query it.
-
Hello Neil and welcome to the best Lexus forum there is and to is300h ownership. Your car looks stunning in that colour. I've had two and the second one was just brilliant. Re the damage to the rear of your car. I'd not worry about the traction battery because you stated the impact was at a slow speed. I think it's fantastic that the dealer is going to replace the bumper. You could however ask the dealer and state your inexperienced concern that they do indeed do a hybrid health check for your piece of mind. Enjoy your car when you get it back. They're a great car. I never got under 50 mpg in mine and I drove it hard at times.

I've been pondering about this thread. I can only comment on a personal experience of none standard service hourly supply and fit. The alternator on my is250 finally gave up. I had no choice, because I was going away the next day, but to take my car to Lexus Stockport to fix. £800 supply and fit. I'm forgetful of the time taken to do the job but 2 1/5 hours right gs a bell. Gulp didn't come close but a free loan car for 4 days helped. I was under the impression that the Lexus hourly rate was £125 per hour. I'll have to remember to look at my bill for the job which was last August.

You reminded me Luciano that when on the M62 last Saturday cruising at 72mph I was overtook by another is250 in silver. I thought to myself mmmmmmm then I floored it lol but there was quite a bit of traffic. Anyway I saw that the silver is250 had slowed to just below 70mph which baffled me. As I passed that car I looked over to nod but was surprised to see the driver was quite a stunning looking young woman. She didn't look over so hey ho. When I'm driving my truck I get overtaken by every car going in the same direction. I use my mirrors every 5 seconds or less to see what is coming up. When I notice a car I like which is kind of rare I'll open my window more and give a thumbs up. Sad to say only 1 in 5 or 6 acknowledge.

Ask yourself this question Bs. What else can I get for £5k? Look in the gen 2 IS section of the forum. This is where you should be looking for info and advice. Within this section is a thread titled What to look out for in an is250. It is thorough and tells you everything you need to know about the superb 2nd gen is250.

Yes Renato difficult to tell nowadays except seeing fellow workers and those at nearby industrial areas.

Back in the day when I was an avid biker when I saw a fellow biker or vice versa we'd wave to each other no matter what size or age of bike. It was a bikers camaraderie. When I pass another lexus on the road I always look over and give a nod. Unfortunately my nod is ignored. If I sence that I flash my indicators/hazards once I've passed them. Sometimes I wonder if those lexus drivers are just plane ole snobs. If it wasn't for this forum I'd tar every lexus owner as a snob. I'm certainly no snob. I'm a working class hero.

Hi Edgars. Anything is possible so longs as you have the Time and the Money and more importantly the Know-how. Linas has stated a lot that would need doing but he's ommited welding work to relocate engine mounts and that alone costs time skill accuracy. If you intend to do it yourself and you work full time then it'll take a couple or more months to do. I suspect the drive shafts are different. The rear differential is different. The propshaft is different. Probably suspension geometry is different too as the inner wings are different between the diesel and V6 engine. Linas has quoted around 7k euros. I don't know but going off that it would probably cost more to change an engine type than to buy the car. You'd need to check with the equivalent to our MOT because at the end of the day you've re-fabricated the engine bay and all the work would have to be checked so make sure the vehicle is road worthy. I'm not trying to put you off but there's so much more than just changing from the diesel engine to the V6 petrol.

Personally the absolute stupidly of that article is the construction/development of Shared public and motorist space! WTF is that all about! There's stupid and then there's moronic. Those developers are true proper moronic.
