Keyless start disabling.
Mr Vlad replied to parkman's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Re a tea leaf using the OBD port. There are OBD locks available. Also it has been done by others is to move the OBD port somewhere else and replace it with a dummy OBD port. (By others I mean folk from the Ford owning fraternity of which I was for many years and still keep in touch via their forums) -
Interesting Colin but I have to correct you. Look in autotrader for a New Rav 4 and note it's engine. Also read reviews of the new Rav 4. They all state that it' the same engine as fitted into the is300h. My is300h is 184ish bhp. New Rav 4 is 192 from memory. Now the info I've read may be wrong but it's probably not. Probably yes 'today" Toyota dealer garages don't have the 'dedicated lexus ' equipment but in a years time I bet they'll have everything they need to fully service not just Toyota and lexus but other makes too.
-
As for the hybrid heath check. I'm pretty sure that Toyota perform such a check on their own branded cars. Their Rav 4 now has the same engine as the is300h and with more power. I'd guess also that they share the same or very similar hybrid system. So I'm guessing that in a years time, where a lot will happen, a Toyota dealer will be able to perform the health check. Makes sense to me.

Right then. Thanks again for that link Casa. Iv'e dug out my service quote. 1x intermediate 1x Full 40 1x Full 60 Equals 1345 and as per your link. I'm going to pop into my local Toyota dealer and show them what's involved in each service and ask how it compares to their services.
-
Casa. Listen and listen well. It' Not me who came up with the figure of 1300. It came from the dealer I bought my car from. Thanks for that link. I'l look at it and from that get back onto the dealer.
-
It's not me Comedian but it' what I got in writing from Stockport Lexus.
-
Casa. Your sums are wrong. The prices I got from Toyota are correct and that' after them contacting lexus Twice. My quotes are 2x180= 360 1x330= 330. Lexus hybrid heath check x3 = 180 360+330+180= 870 making a saving of 430. I'm' going off the rip off price I've got in writing from Stockport Lexus of 1300 over 3 years. I'd love to know where you got your lexus service cost figures from. They're far more favourable than that I got.
-
Hello Casa. To answer your question. I was quoted £1300 for 2 intermediate and 1 full service. My local Toyota dealer who before quoting me contacted lexus for information and guidelines quoted me £180 for an intermediate service and £330 for a full and in their words big service. So over 3 years at Toyota and to lexus for a hybrid heath check total cost would be £900. I don'tknow about you but 400 quid is a lot to save. As for experience iwonder I'd trust a Toyota technician as much as a lexus one. After all they get the same training. The new Rav 4 has the same engine as my is300h and running gear too I believe. But as I e stated elsewhere you can take your car anywhere you like and if they use genuine lexus parts then your warranty is fully valid. That came from the head of customer service at Stockport Lexus as I heard his loud voice whilst he was on the phone to a customer.
-
To get back to the issue of this thread i.e the price of a service. Whilst at the dealer this morning to sort my bluetooth issue I overheard the head customer service guy talking to a customer. He clearly stated so longs as genuine lexus parts used then you can take your car where you like. The price of a hybrid heath check is £60 (dealer is charged £26.50) but no charge if you take your car to lexus for a service. The essential service is cheap But you pay for all parts but he also contradicted himself by saying parts are paid for in a lexus done service. So I suggest take your car to a Toyota dealer to service your car then to lexus to do the hybrid heath check.

Needing advice on a possible Bluetooth issue
Mr Vlad replied to Mr Vlad's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Thought I'd update this issue. Took my car into Lexus Stockport where they did a software update. This cured the auto pairing of phone and audio player. However when it came to names showing to text messages it was the same in that no names showed. The Technician who did the work sat with me in my car to check the Bluetooth. He sent me a text from his phone and only his number showed in a +44 format. I saved his number from the text message and low and behold his name appeared in the next text he sent. I left a happy bunny only to be miffed when 2 mins later my daughter texted me and only her number showed. I carried on home where upon I unpaired my phone and even deleted all numbers and messages (after saving them on my laptop). After re pairing (taking 5 attempts ) the same appeared as in no names except for the technicians text. I spoke with him and between us decided to change all my numbers to start with +44. So after unpairing and re pairing (after another 5 attempts) the text messages now show who they came from as in their name. So to sum up. If you want the names to appear when a text message comes in then make sure their number in your phone starts with a +44. It' long winded but that' how it is. Lexus unfortunately use an old bluetooth module which can present problems. Updating software cures some problems but won't solve all. You have to work around it. So there you have it. My possible problem solved. -
A Couple of Questions Around Headlights
Mr Vlad replied to Carl1983's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
It may be the slight tint in the glass giving the impression of a yellow light. However my cars lights shine a bright white light. -
Very well put doog

Lowering springs ?? Anyone fitted them ?
Mr Vlad replied to UK250's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Loving the look of your car Dominic. Love the zorst ends. -
I can honestly say I've not noticed any road noise in my is300h. Wind noise yes but not road noise and my car is on 18" wheels. Oh and I love the idea of an is450h. My car runs on Bridgestone tyres too and I find them very very good and suit the car well. Sticks to the road really well.
-
I agree totally Mark. Damn pop ups.
-
Wow that suprises me that they told you that. My local Toyota dealer is part of RRG which has lexus Stockport in its company. I'd try another Toyota dealer. Mind you how old is your car and how many miles on it? Maybe if it' a good few years old then try kwikfit or similar. They're really good lately.
-
Try your local Toyota dealer. Sounds daft I know but I'll be using mine to service my is300h.

Mr Vlad replied to UK250's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Hi UK250. I'm suprised you're not seeing many f sports. When I was looking for my premier premium all I was seeing were a few luxury but lots of f sports at various mileages and prices. As for lowering an none f sport then it's totally an individual thing. The photo posted of a lowered is300h looks fab to me. I'm on my 2nd is300h premier premium and this one is so much better than the one I had a year ago. That car must of had suspension from a f sport and it rode the road awfully to me. It jarred on any road surface which wasn't smooth. I suggest you find a f sport near you, any will do, and take it for a test run to see if you'd want to lower and stiffen one. -
To me the the keyfob low battery warning is a really good one and it can't be affected by snow like the park sensors can.
-
On the way to work this morning in some really nice snow making driving difficult a rather interesting and annoying warning appeared on my display. Clean Parking Sensors. Wow I thought. I cleared it on the large display and it stayed clear but annoyingly it kept on on the small screen no matter how many times I cleared it. Now I'm not sure what to think of that warning but I do think it' a bit OTT. What other weird warnings have others had?
-
Looking at the Web site pictures of the acoustic correction filters I'd personally say they are more like a suppressant as opposed to a fixed crossover. Maybe some kind of signal cleaner. I intend to email them at some point to get more information and low down on their system.
-
That's a very interesting post Nemesis. I may just look into that. Yes my car has a very good ML system But there Is room for improvement. I do all my music listening in the car that' why I fit top end audio equipment. I have audiophile quality hifi at home which hasn' been used in almost a decade (I've had it 30 years).
-
Hi Vincent. Don' you know in settings you can have the rev counter on all the time?
-
Hi Finksy. Nowt taken personally. I was just worried about you. It' the way I am. You be well too.
