  1. I saw a RX300 today and what made me smile is that it had 2 either washing machines or tumble dryers fully in their packaging in its boot. Blimey a luxury van lol.
  2. There's an organisation called EMMA who are like an umbrella organisation looking good after the UK's car hifi stuff. Go on their website and check out car hifi dealers in London of which the major ones are there. There's one Big problem running another sub alongside the ML one. It'll sound even worse. Something to do with frequency cancellation and a minute time difference between the two signals which makes it sound awful. Do you know where the ML amp is in your car? If so then simply disconnect the sub and install a different sub of your choice (the Alpine I mentioned is unbeatable and worth 5 times its price)
  3. Unfortunately I don't have a link to any mods for lexus audio. From your thread I looked into removing the sub. It's quite a job from what I've seen and I was gobsmacked to learn it's one speaker in a Plastic L shaped box. No wonder the sub sounds wooly. I have an Alpine SWE 815 powered boxed sub. It's only 8" speaker and 100w but believe me it packs one helluva punch. It shook the glass in a previous Monday I had it in. Google an upgrade to lexus audio and you'll find about the sub in the ML system. I think there's one or two on ebay.
  4. Shame Lexus didn't put a duplex system on the f sport variant of the RX and more of a shame they hid the exhaust end on the hybrid.
  5. Hi Fatts. I've just come across your thread. OK it's been a year but have you sorted getting better sub bass? If so how did you do it? I know for the 3rd gen IS300H with ML there is an upgrade c/o our American friends.
  6. I wouldn't use any kind of silicone or sticky tape coz the sunlight will knack it up. Best either buy new from the link above or as above also a small drill bit and self tappers. I speak from experience with the same problem on a MG ZT I had some years back.
  7. Before a car hifi dealer closed down (due to retirement ) they had a visit from either JBL or Clarion I can't remember but they were showing off a new low voltage and wattage system developed for the new breed of electric/hybrid cars because of the lack of sufficient 12v supply. I think the system ran 20w at what ohm I don't know but apparently the sound was really good and sound level as loud as any true 100w. Anyway I'd guess in the RX300 the speakers would be possibly 8" or 6" running with possibly 3 or 4" and tweeter. Door panel off and access speaker and look at label as stated earlier.
  8. That's what I thought John until I spoke with a couple of car hifi installers who suggested otherwise. Maybe because they were reluctant to work on a hybrid car. But as I suggested. By taking a door trim off and physically looking at a speaker can you tell. But I do think that speakers in hybrid/electric cars are so much more efficient so they work better from amps that are lower power rated (in their input I mean, more in more out etc etc)
  9. Best thing to do it take the door trim off and take the speaker out then look at its label and replace with similar spec. I'm assumingyour car is a hybrid as I don't know the model. If it is hybrid then you're goosed. If not then there will be replacements available. What is your car similar to?
  10. Hi Steve. The differences between the 2 is300h cars were numerous. Ride, comfort and the mark levinson system was hite (with a S) . 1st car lasted 5 weeks. 2nd superb car lasted about a year but changed it to my current RX450h f sport with Mark Levinson. I'd have liked the premium but the f sport looks so much better. It's ride is very good with no issues.
  11. If I were you Steve I'd go test drive a different RX premier. Why? Because my thoughts are that unfortunately you have one of the very few rogue cars. I've had 2 exact same is300h and both were like chalk and cheese. Go test drive another and give it a good test drive. I think you'll find the car you test will be totally different to yours. Make sure tho it's the same year and model.
  12. OK Ed I see your point. A lol to your wife too.
  13. Well another suprise from my car. Wow what a boot. I got the base of a 6x4 shed lay down in it.
  14. You knowwhat Ed the RX isn't the big car loads think it is. It's not much bigger than the NX (both cars were next to each other when I went for the 2nd viewing of the RX). I may have gone for the NX but it's boot was smaller. My RX is only a couple of inches longer than the IS300h I had but oh yes it's tall.
  15. Has it Rayaans? Lexus Leeds have a paint sample of it in the paint colour display. But I don't know the colour range Lexus have. Shame if the fact that Celestial Black is no longer available.
  16. Pearl Black Ed? Me thinks that's the most superb colour Celestial Black.
  17. The more speakers equals more sound. I like lots os speakers.
  18. I've had 2 Is300h premiums both with ML. Both cars were same age spec colour inside and out yet both were world's apart. The 2nd one I had was superb. ML was top shelf excellent. How that could have been so different I don't know. My current car is the RX450h with ML. It's an excellent system but I have to turn it up more than I had to in the IS. Might do you I've not got round to playing with any setting yet. I've found that there's no difference in any of the sources used. CD is no better than Bluetooth in my findings. So what if you have to crank it up a bit more. That's progress I suppose. Maybe your system is akin to the power of a 2 stroke motorcycle and your previous car akin to a 4 strole bike. So longs as it sounds to your liking live with it.
  19. Yippee and well done John. Oh to me ICE most definitely stands for In Car Entertainment. Those who use it to short cut the car engine are copy cat lazy gits lol. I've been into ICE for 30 years and those initial's have been used for car hifi for decades more.
  20. That's what I call a nice pleasant surprise. Cheaper and free fitting. Nice one.
  21. This RX being your very 1st hybrid is gonna do your head in for a short while. It did me when I got my 1st hybrid (the IS300h and all previous cars had manual gearbox ) I couldn't get to grips with it so after 5 weeks it went for an auto box sports mondeo. I'm not saying goes get rid but be patient and learn your car. As Colin stated. Get upto the desired speed, so longs as it's below 40, then gently release pressure on the throttle. There are a few videos on YouTube made by lexus on how to drive the hybrid. I found that after driving the mondeo I got used to an auto box. This was good for me as I found driving the 2nd 300h I bought was so much easier than previous. Your economy will get better with time and from the info given you. Oh. On 1st start up of the car the engine will always start up no matter what. My car shows 3/4 full but within seconds it drops to about 1/4. Don't fall into the trap that you have an EV car. Our cars can go into EV mode but I've found that happens when the engine is at normal temp and the battery at anything over 1/4. So to answer your question. No. You just haven't got used to it yet. Just go out and drive it and enjoy it. They truly are a superb machine.
  22. That's a good point Rich which I can't answer till I take the plastic boot liner out. Thanks for that pointer.
  23. Interested Ed. Not seen any rust on your car (I use my phone not a PC or laptop to go on the forum btw) but your car is suffering from swirl marks. Thanks for your input tho. I have traced the rattle to the parcel shelf bar. No rattles when it's removed.
  24. Yeah m8 but since I have the plastic boot liner it'll roll about like it was on a roller coaster. Mind you I got a new shed on Friday and since I don't like that liner it'll have a new home in the shed. I'll try it in the used position. Cheers.
  25. Well I got round to giving my car it's 1st wash today. Yeah Ive had it 3 weeks. I've had to buy a step up stool so I can get to the roof. Blimey what a tall car lol. But it looks so good. Celestial Black looks magnificent when clean. Mind you I've seen a lovely looking deep metallic red one with black over riders on the wheel arches. That is a super combination colour scheme. Come up to Leeds but this time all the way in sport mode. Yes I broke all speed limits lol and still returned over 32mpg. I've read somewhere on here somebody struggling to get more than 23 mph in EV mode. I regularly get over 40 and how it pulls in EV mode compared to my previous IS300H is gobsmacking. One thing I noticed again today is the annoying rattle from the rear parcel shelf bar. You know what I mean. I really must cure that. 1st I'll true sticky back velcro (the soft bit) if that fails then I'll try blutack. Anyone else cured that rattle?
