  1. Wow. I wonder if what you was told of its previous owner was true. I'm having difficulty but there again. Really nice thought tho of Jon in a GS300. Tommy Vance had an old merc (similar to the 190) which had a huge in car stereo system.
  2. Or as the late great Jon Lord introduce himself as Rick Emerson. I'd love to be able to play keyboard and the mighty Hammoon C3. Oh well.
  3. Well not long back from a week away at Skegness with the wife, youngest daughter (she turned 30 this week ) and her 2 kids one being nearly 3 and in a baby seat. 5 occupants and a weeks worth of luggage. Wow what a huge boot. One Large holdall, three medium holdalls, one Large suitcase, and God knows how many carrier bags. Below are a couple of pics. Oh and a fold up buggy lol. The car behaved superb. So comfy and quick where it had to be. Stuck to the limits going there but definitely not on the way back lol. Got overtook by an 18 plate RX450h whilst I was doing 80. Hee hee I flew past it a couple miles later. I'm more than happy with the economy. Overall my car returned 30mpg which is excellent and what my diesel ford's did! Oh. I've mentioned about my cars service history and how Leeds Lexus were supposed to do a 40k service at about half price. Well a few emails were exchanged because they list paperwork for the Smart bodywork insurance I bought (thick bu**ars) and I mentioned the service. Did I get a rey on that? Did I eckers like. They'll not see my car again. Stockport will look after my car. Anyway below I hope are a couple of FULL boot pics. Bottom pic shows boot FULL even bog roll lol and buggy. Top pic is showing the very large suitcase with 2 of the medium holdalls. The large holdall is in front of the blue holdall to the right of the suitcase. Hope this post helps with what can fit in the boot at least. Oh forgot to mention. Nothing packed in the boot came above halfway of the headrests except the coats. Have to think safety.
  4. Hi and welcome to the forum Liam. Good choice of car. Coming from a diesel will be a Big change. I've had 2 premiums one was utter c**p yet the latest was fantastic. Chopped it in for the RX450h for the boot space and getting 3 comfortably in the back. Enjoy your car and know should you get any problems with it or any questions you'll get honest concise answers quickly.
  5. Sounds like you've answered your own query. What gets me is how on strut seems fine and the other totally goosed. I'd replace both with either recon ones or new or aftermarket if available. I'm just using for my rules on things like ball joints etc etc.
  6. I seem to remember reading something some few years back that since the explosion in Internet use that Haynes were cutting down in physical manual production and concentrating on Internet manuals.
  7. Blimey you've been busy and well done to you stripping all that down. If the controls are working then I'd think the amp is at fault. If possible try a different amp just to test. Even a 2 channel amp will test if sound comes out.
  8. That's good. It's quite amazing how many variations of keyfob internals for basically the same car there are.
  9. Eh up Steve. Video doesn't work on mobile but to get to the battery in the fob of a 3rd gen RX450h you take out the key and slide off the cover and exposed is part of the board with a small plate covering the battery which requires a very small cross head driver to remove 4 screws. Hopefully I've attached a photo
  10. What? A mobile app to unlock a car door?????. That is pure bonkers. What's wrong with simply walking up to your car and opening it by hand? **** they'll be developing an app to wipe your ***** next rofl
  11. On what car? I've seen a few keyfob battery replacement videos and none used a screwdriver at all. You have to be careful tho because of the actual buttons and the circuit board. Seems more pieces in a lexus keyfob than any other I've had.
  12. Check the condition of the used unit carefully. It may not be much younger than the one you have. Make a note of all what's written on the back of the unit and see what other units with the same spec are available. £450 for a sub speaker of quality is a good price. In the past I've spent more to get the required sound. There is an American upgrade which if memory serves is around £1300. Comes with amp and new shelf mind.
  13. Yup sounds like a good idea and to get a 2nd opinion. Making blanking plates to fit a tweeter isn't so bad to do. See how much BCSS would charge. Looked on their site and very impressive. If they can't help/advise then no one can.

  15. Have you taken your door trim off yet? Best you do before it does your head in.
  16. Yes looks like components in the front. From what I quickly Googled they are 6.5" and 2ohm.
  17. Maybe I am Rayaans but 4 years is a helluva long time in technology world. Steve. My domestic hifi hasn't been used in over 10 years now. It was arguably one of the best money could buy but I spent more time in my cars than at home lol so in car hifi became a semi pro hobby and my systems suprised home hifi dealers when they listeneed to my systems. Urgh radio 4? Noooooooo. Braingell for me. Metal till I die.
  18. Sorry Rayaans but ML isn't the company it was when it 1st started and it's ethics in sound reproduction. What it is now is a marketing tool. Yes now they produce better than most car audio equipment but it's just too different between Lexus models. My current RX is a 62 plate registered 2013 and it's ML system is not as good as the 2nd of my IS300h's whose ML was superb. The ML in my 1st IS was utter shyte. Yes systems now in cars have their bass boosted probably coz it's cheaper to do that than properly sound deaden car body panels. I can make any car sound better than ML for under £1k probably £800. Rockford Fosgate amp £300. Infinity speakers £350ish. Alpine sub £125 and a couple rolls of dynamat plus wires/leads. Yes Comedian some home systems have 2 or more subs running but they'll be run from dedicated sub amps. Before buying my Alpine sub I ran a custom designed by Wilmslow Audio (1980''s original company) 4th order bandpass box which had 2 10" speakers facing each other but in separate enclosures with just one 4" hole for the sound to come out. It was designed for home use. I guinea pigged it for car use as it was only about 2 foot cube. Acoustic Research AR9''s have 2 subs in each speaker making a total of 4 subs perfectly matched powered by BBC grade Quad amps. And yes if you can hear where the sub is then something is set up wrong. You feel good sub bass.
  19. You know what Rayaans even tho I've not heard a none ML Lexus I'd be inclined to accept that there's very little difference between the two. Neither of the ML systems I've had were/isn't as good as the £600 system I had in my previous Ford Mondeo.
  20. It may be able to shake the doors But the issue is its low quality of sub bass. What gobsmacks me is in the RX ML system is only around 300 watts. The ML in the IS300H is a mighty 835 watts. Also the RX has pityful sound proofing. The door skins are so so tinny. Most definitely need treating with dynamat. There's always room for improvement.
  21. That's very interesting. When I enquired I didn't mention a hybrid health check. It was others on here who stated even catagorically that only lexus could do the HHC. Good on your Toyota dealer.
  22. A decent paint shop will actually remove the sensors. All sensors are removable.
  23. Actually painting sensors is very common and has no detrimental effect on them. Possibly tho having 2 coats of paint may affect them but I suspect the coat the repairer put on the sensors hasn't taken to them. Take them off and use a 2 or 3000 grit paper to take that layer of paint off.
  24. I found the quotes I got when I phoned my local Toyota dealer. Full service for the IS300h £330. Intermediate service £180. I do remember tho that who I spoke to asked the service manager who themselves sought advice and permission from Lexus.
  25. Try your local Toyota dealer. I know they will service a lexus and to top spec but you'd have to go to lexus for the hybrid health check. Oh Toyota charge half what lexus do. I enquired when I had my IS300h.
