  1. Absolutely as Colin states. Park brake shoes basically never wear out. I've never changed any in my decades of doing my own brake services. Blimey Britpus that made me laugh. £200 not sounding much if said quickly.
  2. Yeah it's a little cracker. I'm only using it as a rev counter but it's a proper OBD reader and can read faults etc etc. Interesting to know on my short trip to work my engine didn't rev above 2k. Can't wait to see how it is on the motorway at the weekend. It does oil and water temperature and battery voltage and average speed mpg etc. I will learn it's other functions soon.
  3. Just a few minutes ago I fitted an OBD smart digital reader coz I wanted a rev counter. I found American forums who wanted a rev counter in their RX450h's and someone found to do it was through the OBD port so I found a nice looking one on Amazon and below are a few pics of where it's sited and the one I bought. Hope it's of interest to those like me who wants to know what revs the car is doing
  4. I had a drive from where I live in Rochdale to Bury on the A roads. I stuck to the speed limits but got their damn quick lol. It's all up and down hill and lots of bends. When I got home I looked at the display and blow me it read 42.2mpg. That is superb considering its a 3.5 litre V6 petrol. On motorway to Leeds sticking to the limit I get a nats over 40mpg but if I travel at let's say 80mph for example (cough cough) I get middle 30's. Damn good cars.
  5. Cheers Rayaans I kind of thought that.
  6. Today I noticed via a reflection that one of the elements of the 3rd brake light wasn't on. Are these LED's separately replaceable or is it a whole unit needed? If new unit then the dealer will foot the bill.
  7. Wow Zubair that's shocking news and quite unbelievable. I agree as stated above. A 2nd opinion/investigation is a must. If it is kosher that a new engine and hybrid system is needed then it's definitely bye bye car.
  8. Search out car hifi specialist's. There is an organisation called EMMA that the good car hifi dealers join.
  9. That's disgraceful behaviour of that dealer. You need to contact Lexus UK and complain.
  10. The close to legal limit is pure scare tactics. Thackeray the text you posted on tyre wear list etc. From what year was that text taken? I ask because I believe a couple or so years ago they changed it to tread depth 100% across the width.
  11. Yes as matt stated. But I've been playing about with quotes and yes 21 days ahead is good but I found a number of times that 24 days was cheaper still. Oh yes 15k miles sure increases the premium.
  12. I've read articles on it and did comparison site searches. Not as many companies quote and those that do the quotes were around 3 to 5 hundred quid more. I searched for BMW's mainly 3.0litre and above.
  13. Top of the range is Premier. You may well see adverts of Premium Premier. Both my is300h''s were that. You made the right choice dropping out of that deal. CAT d''s are a beggar to insure
  14. Try Connects2. If theres a good replacement head unit for your car they'll be able to help you. As for Chinese replacement units. Stay well clear. Personally I don't like the look of that one you posted the link to. The gear knob looms to block it's view.
  15. Blimey wool seats? What you getting?
  16. Worst mpg I've had in mine is 22 when speeding down the M62 home from Leeds. Best I've had is 38.5 going to leeds but keeping to the speed limits. Fully laden my car got just over 30mpg to Skegness and back to leeds. That was damn excellent considering the car was Fully laden. I don't know where honest John real mpg for the 450h figure come from. I suppose it is possible to average mid to high 40's but that would need hybrid trained driving. The 450h is Not the wrong car for economy runs. Imagine the car without its hybrid. Mpg would be constantly low 20's. Don't worry about your mpg. Just enjoy your fabulous car.
  17. I'm always playing the game how fast can I go on electric. 43 mph is achieved regularly but yesterday on the M621 I achieved for a distance of half a mile 50mph. Ruddy marvellous.
  18. Oh yes Piers it's surprising just how dirty seats get especially white/cream ones. Damn good stuff that Autoglym.
  19. His Brian. Wishing you a speedy recovery on your knee. Now then what level is showing on the battery level display? If it's low then you just may have to start the car and let it run until it stops by its self perhaps once a fortnight. If the level is showing full then you can leave the car alone as no use means no battery drain enough to cause concern.
  20. Blimey 4 hours if you cracking on? What makes changing the plugs take so long? Good job done none the less. Well done.
  21. Niiiiiiiiiice. I'd like the RC but family stops that lol. As mentioned it would be good to get your comparisons between the two. Happy motoring.
  22. Of my 25 car history 3 of which were/is lexus hybrid the others had a mixed history with batteries. My trips were short but not as short as yours Dominic. It sounds like the battery didn't stand a chance. More was taken from it than given. Plus possibly it wasn't 100% when new.
  23. I now have a F sport RX450h without blind spot mirrors and can honestly say the mirrors I have are superb. Absolutely no need for that useless gimmick blind spot. I'm a professional hgv driver by the way.
  24. Hi. If the car looks like it's been looked after, you know what I mean, and there is some Lexus service history and it drives as you expect (if not better) then go for it. I'm guessing it's not from a Lexus dealer but giving it them to service and check it won't do any harm (except your wallet but worth it). I think the 400h is a 3.0 litre V6 (correct me if I'm wrong ) but still the Toyota derived V6 is a stonker of an engine and at 116k miles is nearly run in.
