  1. Hi m8. I sometimes get the same thing in my 450h. What I do is to press the switch to turn it off. Then I try again and all is well. Don't know if you've tried this but it could help.
  2. Book your service about 2-3 weeks in advance. State you require a courtesy car. Also state you can't arrive before midday and that you'll pick your car up the next day. I did that at every service when I had Ford's and was never let down. You're the customer after all.
  3. Ah Rich. The Vignale one I'm tempted by is the evil diesel one lol. But your engine is one I love. Had it in my beloved and missed mk4.5 more do titanium x sport. What a car and mucked up swapping it for my previous is300h lol.
  4. Thanks Rich. Over the weekend I spent a bit of time looking into it and drew the same as you. And oh my oh my what a perfect family vehicle you have. To those who don't know it's a S Max just as the car I've mentioned. What I found strange however was that a child over 3 years old can sit in the middle and use the adult strap????? Totally stupid me thinks. But if 3 child seats can fit then perhaps put the middle one in 1st then place child in it then do either side. Maybe that would work. Nice car you have Rich. I've considered one and am kinda tempted by the new 240 horse 8 speed auto vignale
  5. I only quoted 3 isofix points as the S Max has them. The middle seat even tho it has the 3 point seat belts can not be used for a baby seat. Ask at shops that sell them. Also car dealers. Also the police. I looked into it a few years back but i believe that rule is still in place. I may be wrong but do ask the shops that sell child seats.
  6. To my knowledge you are not allowed to put a child seat in the middle of the bench seat. It is not a dedicated seat as such. If you need 3 child seats then you need a car such as the Ford S Max which has 3 individual seats and 3 isofix points. Yes you may have seen 3 child seats in rear of cars but they are breaking the law unfortunately.
  7. Hi Dan and welcome to the forum. Really nice looking car you have As for T & W option on the UK locations. What do you mean? Are you asking about local Lexus dealers?
  8. Elsewhere on this forum someone else has posted about droning noises. Changing tyres to a branded type cured the problem. Are your tyres the same on each axle? Are they a cheap Chinese brand or a trusted brand i.e Pirelli etc?
  9. Hi. I had a similar problem with my is300h when I had one. Neither text messages or emails would show. Took the car back to Lexus and after an update all was well. However maybe the inbox is full. I'm sure I read somewhere that the car has limited email storage. Have you tried doing a system reset of the infotainment system? It's easy and self explanatory on the units screen. Go to settings to find it.
  10. Try jacking the car up and check the wheel bearings by rocking the wheel whilst holding it at 12 and 6 on a clock. If you feel a knocking then that shows a duff bearing andthe cause of the droning you hear.
  11. Nice one Rich. Car looks good and a very nice colour. Exhaust should be cheap n easy to do. Maybe simply flushing the cooling system might help the heater or it may be at worst the heater but I'd imagine you'll find one at a scrappers.
  12. Auto high beam difficult to set up? Am I missing something but my last few cars have had it as all I had to do was turn the toggle on the stalk to auto and hey presto done. However the system in my last Ford was much better than in the lexus. Good post tho Barry.
  13. Nice one Rich. Damn fine looking cars the convertible Saabs. Probably no better car for a birthday present to oneself especially when it's Hawaii time. Hope the sale goes well and the weather is favourable. Yeah as a caution do get belts pulleys etc changed. Yeah it may cost a couple hundred but worthwhile.
  14. st4 I stated infiniti hybrid only and they have quite possibly the best V6 petrol engine. Most reliable and bullet proof. Same as used in the superb Z350 Nissan. However the diesels are utter crap as they use the utter crap merc engine. So please don't tar ALL infiniti cars with the same brush.
  15. Well found Texas. And Rayaans pic is in that article. From the colours I had that wowza boat in mind.
  16. If I couldn't have Lexus then top of my list would be Infiniti (hybrid model only) followed by Volvo (not the ugly new ones) followed by Ford (I've had 6 and each were excellent )
  17. Well it's Wednesday and I'm in windy Blackpool. I was in a bit of traffic thanks to a bus lol and I saw an e type jag up ahead. I thought wow. Even more so there was another one in front. They went round a roundabout and I noticed on the cars were stickers saying e type club. I went straight ahead and blow me 3 more of them. Never before have I seen more than one e type on the road. What a day. Though I'd let you lot know.
  18. Maybe Peter that you get messages etc is because yours is a dongle. Mine however is an actual reader. I don't get any messages. From what I remember from my Ford days in the forums lots had OBD dongles bluetoothed to their phones but none left them in over night. They are a good piece of kit and very useful.
  19. Yes jaystar. Oil n water temp. Throttle position. Engine load which is interesting. And much more. Takes too long to go thru all the menu lol
  20. Thanks for your post Brouwers. Job done. I suppose Colin I was/am 'ignorant ' how the trans works in my car. I miss read what you posted re as if revving in neutral. But thanks for the links. 2nd one a good read. All I know is I drive a superb car and love it and also am gobsmacked at how the engine revs in different conditions. Yes the revs fluctuate and that's coz of the trans and that's what I love. Throttle at one position yet revs fluctuate between flats hills and downhills. No engine revs dragging as in a standard manual trans. Comfy quick/fast and economic. Think I should have posted this thread in general so more folk could read it. I know there are lots of folk who'd like a rev counter. Yes mrfunex it plugs straight into the OBD port and it's just like a reader but all I want it for is a rev counter. Job done.
  21. Wow what a couple of extra inputs. Firstly Colin what a load of tosh you stated " the CVT allows the engine to rev up essentially without load". Utter crap and from someone I've respected comments from. How the hell can any type of transmission allow an engine to rev up without a load? OK Rayaans I know where you're coming from kind of. Maybe the electronic's in the 4RX are different. In my previous is300h's I had the rev counter on always and it responded directly to my boot pressure. The rev counter did Not however do what it wanted to. The OBD reader I have also does NOT do what it wants to. What I've seen is true engine revs and been pleasantly suprised at what revs I've been at at certain conditions. Even more so than in the is300h's probably coz of the V6. Crikey I'm really suprised at these replies. To anyone else who is interested in my thread please ignore the above 2 posts.
  22. Because Peter I prefer and always have done to have a rev counter. If I can't control the engine with the throttle then how the hell do I make it go????? My OBD reader can do much much more than do just revs but it's revs what I wanted. OK an android app. I understand what you mean but to look at a phone whilst driving isn't on. Not even if it's mounted on the dash somewhere which to me is totally unsightly and makes the dash ugly. There are lots of folk like me who'd like a rev counter. I have posted a solution. Thanks for your reply btw.
  23. As much as I love my RX450h one thing, which I've mentioned elsewhere, which bugged me is its lack of Rev Counter. I'm sure I've read elsewhere on this forum if it's possible to introduce a Rev Counter and although there were many replies I didn't come across a possitive answer. Very recently I Googled said question and came across an American Lexus forum. Someone found that you can introduce a surface mount OBD reader which has a Rev counter within its plethora of other readings. I thought what a good find and proceeded to Amazon and purchased an OBD reader which pleased my eye and was small. Needless to say I'm a happy bunny now and I'm gobsmacked how low my car revs in various situation's and just how fast it gets to 6200 revs. Wow it revs quick and for a big V6 that's impressive. Below are a couple of photos of where I have mine mounted and a pic of which I have. Yes OK some wire shows but it's not a bother. A wider angle pic to show how small but very effective it looks. This is the reader I chose. I hope this will interest those, who like me, would love a Rev Counter in their car. Dead easy to fit and it also reads all other info and can read faults if they occur.
