  1. Glad you found the 'notch' Ken. As for the vibration thing I'm at a loss. I've had 2 300h cars and I've no recollection of those or any vibrations in my cars. Since you've only had the car a very short time I'd contact the dealer you got it from as it'd be in a warranty so they should investigate it.
  2. Ooooops sorry Barry my bad. So you have a 3rd gen RX450H with ML. I had a 3rd gen 450h f sport with ML and I could play anything thru my speakers via bluetooth or line in. Does the bluetooth work in your car? Have you connected your phone for instance? But you can't connect your tomtom via bluetooth? If a phone connects then the tomtom has a fault. Check these points out before seeing a car hifi shop.
  3. Having just watched the video for the io player I'm wondering which RX you have Brian. I'm going to assume the 300/400h model as they have a Bluetooth but not one you can stream music thru. However if I'm right regarding your car then it's easy. There are a couple of threads on here on streaming music thru Bluetooth. There's a piece of kit available that you have to plug in to the rear of the radio unit. Browse the forum and you should find the threads I'm on about. Once done then using something like the io player then your question is answered.
  4. Reading this thread makes me miss my last is300h. I doubt very much you felt a push into the seat on fast acceleration in a 120d. My 300h felt very quick off the mark when floored it from a standstill. I only did it when I had a minimum of 50% battery. There is a notch in the pedal but you have to really push your foot to get it and it is noticeable. Glad you're loving your 300h. Many happy miles in it to you.
  5. Personally I'd say have the hoist removed and have any holes made for its fitment filled in. You can sell the hoist separate and I'm sure you'd get a buyer.
  6. Yes I remember I've had those kind of messages on both the is300h I've had and the RX450h I had. I think it's a rather nifty function which I like.
  7. There are a couple of threads on here about DAB introduction and Bluetooth streaming. That model you're looking at I'd really research it. Go for a brand like Pure or Alpine and one which name I forget but it highly recommend by a good chap on here.
  8. Yes you can upgrade to a modern looking headunit. As above there is a superb video on YouTube done by a very clever woman. It's a long but very concise video. Yes splicing of wires etc. It'll be time consuming but you have to consider upgrading the measly 12v battery if you want to introduce an amplifier to replace the ML one.
  9. Yes Old Trout lots of loo roll but at least we knew what we were using. As for security of load. I'm a pro truck driver and my loads are always secured. Careful packing and rear head restraints at a higher position than normal. The pushchair was the highest item and it was under the top of the head rests and laid against them. Photo was taken without a couple of straps I used. My car had quite dark tinted glass in the rear. No way to see inside through from outside.
  10. I had a child seat in my RX all the time I had the car. No issues with the leather on the seat. Just make sure the seat is damn tight against the cars seat then there shouldn't be any chaffing which will damage the leather seat. But as Rayaans has stated. An old bath towel will do the trick and it's free.
  11. Yes that damage can be repaired but from experience I'd get a used panel from a breakers as it'd be a fair bit cheaper. However it'd be pot luck. A good repair would be invisible if done correctly but at a price. Best advice is shop around.
  12. I suppose Dutchie that if the car had a big enough battery and a top notch regen system and the road was always clear then I'd say yes it could be done if you lived at the top of mount fuji. But I don't think that car exists yet.
  13. Whilst looking in Google news world I came across a Swedish build electric dumper truck based on a komatsu model. It's called the E Truck. Weighs 45 ton empty but carries 65 ton. The magic of this truck is it never needs to be charged. How? Regenerative braking. It goes downhill fully loaded and regen's more power than is needed to get back up the hill empty. Is that brilliant or what?
  14. Just goes to show there's no need to buy most spares from a Lexus dealer. The washer pump at £11 is a ruddy bargain.
  15. Excellent write up and review of your European road trip. I find it hard to believe tho that you state the boot is much smaller than that of your Avensis estate? I had a RX but had to let it go but I did use it for the annual holiday. 3 adults a tall 13yr old and the princess's baby seat. Tons of luggage for us all yet the boot swallowed it all. I'm in an excellent mondeo now to which the boot is bigger than the RX and avensis by the way yet the same luggage was a bit of a squeeze to get in. On my RX the rear did squat a bit with the weight but my mondeo hardly squatted. Yes I miss the RX but that's how it is. lol yes one does have to stretch a bit when one gets out yet not in the RX. Mine was the F Sport and I drove it so. It handled surprisingly well. Enjoy your car and many happy miles driving to you. Oh forget the rear parcel shelf thing. Pile your luggage high. You have a mirror on each of your front doors and don't need the middle mirror. OK I'm a truck driver and don't have a middle mirror. Below hopefully is a photo of my RX fully loaded
  16. Blimey a CRV handling like a X5? Your X5 must have a fault in its suspension. I've driven a couple of newish CRV''s and they're krap. But anyway. So longs as you're happy with your new car then we'll done. Happy motoring.
  17. Yeah lucky yanks. I read an article about the 'green' one. Boy oh boy would I love one.
  18. Errrrrrrr I'm stumped as to what to say.
  19. Never mind what fuel you put in it. What's more important is an oil additive because of the masses of stop starts of the engine. In all my cars of the past 25 years I've put a dose of ZX1 in my engines. As for fuel tesco fuel had a bad spell a couple or so years ago where it was found it wrecked a large number of engines. Must be something in what's been said here about fuel being stored on water. In my petrol cars I've run supermarket fuel and shell v power at a 3 to 1 ratio. In diesel cars I've owned dead simple. Millers in every tankful of supermarket fuel.
  20. Pre crash/collision warning system isn't for pedestrian use but for vehicle use. I've had it come up on my mondeo a few times. As for speed camera warning beeps I don't know but useless again what the fuzz are testing. A zoom lens speed camera which can get a car 1 kilometre away.
  21. By feck that's cheap. Wish I had a spare couple grand and I'd part ex my mondeo for it no problem
  22. A car of 10 years or older will probably have had some kind of bodywork/paint in its life. It's normal. However the quality of the work should be more than good. Even if 5 of 6 panels have had paint then colour match must be near perfect. Bad panel gaps mean something is bent which the panel is attached to. Buying older cars is risky But there are loads of good clean example's out there. Just be patient. Looks like you're willing to travel which is a bonus.
