  1. Well took my car into Halfords for new rear shocks and MOT. The guy said I got quoted for one shock only. I said really then that makes £800. Lexus only charge 325 a side. We'll match that he said after I said ill make a call. He then said to make you happy We'll do it for 625 including the MOT. Happy with that. Car passed with no advisories and genuine lexus shocks used. Happy bunny tho I noticed the AFS light on. They quickly sorted that out. It was the sensor bracket rear passenger side out of alignment. And good to know the kind of knocking sound has gone that I knew about when I bought the car. Though it was like a wheel out of balance but that noise was still there after having wheels powder coated and balanced. Just goes to show a weeping shocker can fling up weird noises.
  2. Hi Malc. 85k is no issue at all. Nothing wrong with buying from an independent dealer either But make sure you get a guarantee that it has a full dealer service history. Look at the cars service book to see how many stamps are in it. Make notes of which dealer did the servicing and phone them and ask what servicing they did. Also once a year whats called a Hybrid Health Check should be done by lexus dealer. If the service history is a little dubious then not to worry. Worst case is the £1500 saving will more than buy a Full service inspection from your local Lexus dealer (that's about £400 if memory serves plus 50 for the Hybrid check). You won't be disappointed by the is300h its a fantastic car. Try if possible to get the Premier spec car with all the toys.
  3. You'll find the paint code on either the drivers door slam panel on that sticker or the passenger door slam panel (its on the passenger side on my is250) Its a 3 digit number. Don't ask lexus. When I did they wanted a fiver to look it up as that's how much it costs them. Paint2fix is a superb touch up kit.
  4. Yeah Bongo. Their are numerous ways to colour plastics. Personally I prefer painting. Its way cheaper too plus a sense of self chuffedness.
  5. The set up you bought Zoricib. I've got it plumbed in and I say thanks again for posting it. Excellent bit of stuff and sound is bob on. 👍
  6. Eh up Adrian. You won't go wrong with the is250. 👍
  7. Previous owner of my car de chromed the front grill with a rubberised type paint. Doesn't look on very close inspection that the grill was taken off. Think the 2 strips either side of the front windscreen have been painted too but definitely taken off. Silly beggar knackered half the clips to put strips back on. However be careful what you use on plastic pieces. Use a purpose for plastic paint and prepare surfaces well.
  8. Yes ML speakers are 3ohm usually which I find strange. Not often for sale in the 2nd hand market. I was looking at my car and thought to put a beading around the radio would be one almighty squeeze . Definitely look on YouTube about the screen and display module. Good info on there.
  9. Hi Mitch. The tell tale way to know if you have ML is it'll say Mark Levinson on the lower part of the headunit. Putting a chrome type beading around the headunit sounds a good idea but maybe a silver/grey or black? Yeah those clips on the dash vents are tricky. At least 2 of mine are knackered. Sounds like you probably have a few knackered speakers that'll need replacing. However be aware of the ohmage of the speakers. Not always 4ohm. Yes I've seen on utube replacing the touch screen screen. Not expensive to do either. I've stated yes you can swap the two parts over separately. Look on the tube about updating none nav radios to android type. As for sending unit for repair. All I can think of is a hifi specialist and go from there.
  10. I've always loved the coupe. Sublime motoring. 👍👍👍
  11. Hi Mitch. Just come across your thread. Firstly welcome to the best Lexus forum there is. Wow £1200 for a great car. Cheap. I paid 4X that for my 2007 78k 1 owner ffs car. You've mentioned the dash around the radio/nav unit looks damaged. Looks like a previous owner had an issue and had the unit out and possibly forgot one or more of the multi plugs. The ML system is superb. In my current is250 it sounds better than the ML in a 14 plate is300h I had and in the 62 plate RX450h I had (I've only had Lexus cars with ML). Are you sure you've got ML? Does your rear shelf have 3 speaker grills and the rear doors 2 speaker grills each and front doors 3 and a centre dash speaker grill? To test each speaker then you have to ay with the sound stage setting and have the music play from each door individually. You could find a car hifi specialist near you to have a look. You paid £120 for a 2nd hand radio/nav unit? Blimey you struck lucky. They're usually around £400. You asked if you can swap your original screen for the 2nd hand one. Yes you can. You have to unscrew the bolts on the side of the unit where the bright silver bracket is and separate the 2 halves then swap. There are tutorials on the tube. Glad you love your car. They're summat else.
  12. If its more than replacing the aerial to get DAB and its Planet Rock is your station then download their app and stuff DAB. Use Bluetooth to play PR (or any music you want).
  13. Nice car Steve. A slight mod to the headunit I see. There are a couple of good headunit replacement options direct fit with the benefits of Nav and DAB etc. Welcome to the best Lexus (toyota equivalents) forum there is.
  14. Oh out of interest what Rover V8 you got? I used to have a vanden plas SD1 in the 80's (got gazumped on a vitesse i was after). It was a superb car. Would love another one.
  15. That looks a good bit of kit. Nice one Bruce 👍
  16. Yeah good point you have there dazed. I can't say I notice any symptoms of a knackered shocker But when buying the car and talking it on a test drive I noted what to me sounded like a wheel out of balance. That sound is still apparent even though all four wheels have been powder coated and Balanced. So the sound i must be hearing must by deduction be a knackered shocker.
  17. I know John. I won't trust lexus to do a MOT for me again. Stockport said my wiper blades were split and caused smearing. Nothing wrong with my wiper blades. Smearing cos of a greasy screen. Car booked in at my local halfords auto Centre who i know.
  18. That was good of the techy. With regards to the hardwire kit. Look at your fuses in the car 1st b4 you fit the kit. I had to go to halfords twice to 1st get a fuse puller then to my dismay a 10A fuse same as the ones in the kit because in my car anyway the fuses are different to the kits one.
  19. Hi Chris and again welcome to the best Lexus forum there is. As for your dash cam go on nextbase website and look for the hard wire kit. Excellent bit of kit and easy to fit. Just learn about your trim. I had a UX as a curtacy car. 40 miles I did in it. Yes I thrashed it 1st time in lol. I averaged 47 mpg and 56% on battery alone. Enjoy your car
  20. Yes its weird how these trim pieces come adrift. My driver side one is coming away at the bonnet end and the passenger side well most of the clips had failed so I used bluetac on that. Drivers side ive yet to figure a cure.
  21. The android one sl3b. The other is for iPhone.
  22. Well I had to laugh. For what I wanted and what I got were worlds apart. I asked for a Full drain. They drained 1.4 litres. Labour charge was 3/4 of the bill for that which i think was down to £186. I'll be phoning Chorley next week to get a quote.
  23. Thanks but I've used Halfords lots of times over the years and never faulted them. I only have praise for them. My last car the mondeo I had new discs and pads fitted to the rear. Lifetime guarantee. Couple months later car in at Fords for a service and they contacted me saying nearside brake pads warn to 20% one side and 80% the other. A sticking caliper. Ford fixed the caliper. I phoned Halfords about it and the fitted new pads free of charge. However I will search other tyre exhaust places nearby.
  24. I think it does car play but its a version of the Grom vline but better and more reliable and not at a rip off price of the grom. Over £100 cheaper. Look them up.
