  1. Thanks Bogdan. That picture reminds me of how I saw mine. Its surprising just how many variants of the head unit there are. Because your Bluetooth adapter is recognised as a CD player does track listing appear on the screen aswell as artist and track?
  2. To Bruce and Zoricib. I've been thinking about the Bluetooth adapter you have which connects to the rear of the head unit. It reminds me of a Yatour unit I bought from the same German seller. When I came to fit the Yatour I found that where the Yatour fits the 6+6 socket was bare as in no lead was plugged into it from the loom. I urged the Yatour in but to no joy as it didn't transmit a Bluetooth signal and the head unit didn't recognise it. The socket I used, if memory serves, is on the bottom and is 3rd from the left. Since you both have the similar unit up and running I have to ask which socket on the back of the radio unit have you used? I take it you also use a Y lead.
  3. Blimey I forgot about this thread. Typical me lol. Zoricib I went through 2 of those BMW Bluetooth units. Initially worked great but after a few weeks the unit made the music sound awful. No bass etc. The 2nd one didn't fair better. I'm using a different one now and for a good few weeks. Excellent and my music sounds awesome. That unit above looks good and has steering wheel control too. Good of you to post your results on it. 👍
  4. Oh right. Thanks. I've looked on ebay but only found used ones from Hungary I think. Used Google and have seen a couple companies making and selling them. 45 quid each. Lexus parts online shop 93 quid each. I'll look again next year as I think mine are getting slowly knackered.
  5. OK. So the new strut. Is it a Lexus genuine or a replica? If replica which one?
  6. Mike. So you tried with replacing one strut yes? Was the other strut still connected? What happens if you disconnect the 'old' strut and just use the new strut? Is the new strut a genuine Lexus part or one like the French guy used? What I'm thinking is if its a stronger action strut then the old strut being still in situ may have an adverse affect on the new one. Try disconnecting the old one and see how the boot operates with just the new.
  7. There is too much chat about using Toyota Red grease for the caliper pins. Think about it. For example CV joints. What covers them? Oh yes that's it a rubber boot. Now then does grease for CV joints attack the boots? No. So there is no reason what so ever to buy a grease thats not economic. Any grease thats for moving parts which are protected to dust by rubber boots will more than suffice. Plus do you really think a grease will damage a rubber boot in one year? I don't think so. Back in the day before all these different greases were on the market normal grease was used in all applications and also regular maintenance was done. Oh and there is a rear exhaust system available none Lexus at about £160. I have mentioned this elsewhere on here.
  8. Well I've learnt something new with this thread. I didn't realise gas type struts were used on the boot lid. I know my boot lid lifts easy as pie and shuts a little harsh but acceptable. Excellent thread 👍
  9. Hi Andrew. The service plan includes parts and labour. When I bought my car, and every car for the last 30 years, I put a bottle of ZX1 in the oil. Look up ZX1 its the beez neez and I've trusted it completely since I first saw its amazing qualities. Very soon after buying my car I booked it in with Lexus Stockport for a service. I also asked them to do a oil change on the gearbox. I was charged £140 all in but all they did was the simple drain and top up. 1.6 litres of new oil went in. Apparently this is the Lexus way as I was told. Below is the colour of my coated wheels. Can't remember the colour but its a BMW colour.
  10. I was quoted £25 per plug to change the spark plugs on my is250 from Lexus Stockport. I'm on a service plan over 3 years including MOT at a cost of £38 per month for 20 months. As for wheels refurbishment I got mine powder coated at £60 a wheel 17" rims (got them done coz I stupidly kerbed one badly). The is250 is such a superb car. The brake caliper sliders is an easy job to service. Enjoy your new car.
  11. Whilst I was on my tacho break today I googled is350 jap import. There's a video on utube where an agent is presenting a white is350 from Japan. The clocks were set to mph etc but I did notice that the info screen between the clocks read in Japanese as did the satnav screen. There are is250's in yank land with the straight 6 Toyota 3.0 litre and turbo'd. I've seen that online. I was amazed the engine looked as if it came from the factory the fit was superb. I've seen is350's for sale in NZ but they seem a bit pricey.
  12. Blimey Stew that's a mission you're on. I don't think anyone here has done what you're after doing as I don't think there is an is350 in this country unless they're keeping quiet. Look on an American based Lexus forum as I think you'll find more info etc. Wouldn't it be cheaper to do an engine swap instead?
  13. Just be careful with the cleaner and how you do it. Gentle strokes so as to lift the dirt and not rub it into the leather more.
  14. I've had cracking like that on a few cars. A good clean then a good leather conditioner and the majority of the cracks will hardly be noticeable. Enjoy your new car. They are rather a superb motor.
  15. The Aygo is one helluva little car. Had one for a day whilst I had my is250's paintwork sorted. I agree the new corolla is a good looking car as is the camry. Yes camry better looking than ES. Personally as far as the CHR is concerned I care not for it. To me UX whips its *****.
  16. Well I've just read that Autocar article and it blew me away. Personally I'm gobsmacked by the decision but what do I know. Mind you if money wasn't an issue the new Lexus cars I'd buy aren't affected. But I bet there's a good few who are disappointed.
  17. Very good car the UX. As for the boot if you look in the UX section someone posted that the boot space can almost double by removing the boot liner then the polystyrene type spacers. There is a little more but I can't remember. Look it up. I had a UX for a day as a courtesy car. Very impressed. Drove it like I stole it, well you do don't you lol, and got 50mpg plus I was told about 40+% was on electric.
  18. Now that's an eye opener. A short time ago I looked at plugs for my is250 and ones I saw and bear in mind these were known branded ones had 3 tips. Seeing that these have the norm of 1 tip makes me wonder about getting the 3 tip ones. 3 times the spark means a more efficient burn etc etc etc. Pity the quality of the photo because to me they look burned out. Looking at the centre electrodes they look deformed.
  19. Thats what I call chalk and cheese. 350LC and DR600. Bet your mates took the P when you got it.
  20. Oh. Never really been into crossers. Mind you had a ball on i think it was a yz490. Hellishly torquey. We had the 1st AS1 in the country. Only sold it 5 years ago. My heart is with RD400's and Elsie's. Nearly bought a stage 3 tuned RD500lc. Blimey took it for a spin. Without knowing at 80 the front wheel touched the ground. I wasn't even revving it hard. Needless to say I shied away lol.
  21. Sheltered life???? No way. 28 cars all top spec models and all taken to their limit. In the 80's and 90's I showed up so many so called sports cars up big time. In my current is250 I've beaten 3 series beemers and C class mercs. I'm a nutter at heart and drive like one lol. And I've had a number of 2 and 4 stroke Yamahas mainly and that's where I got the nickname MadVlad. Oh happy days lol.
  22. Most defo keep the p5b such a fabulous car I've loved since I was a nipper. Personally I don't care for TVR's. Depends on what dog or dogs you have but either the is250 or p5b will suffice on a rug on the back seats. Just me thinking out loud.
  23. As above. Funny story. Get rid of one of your 'toys' as you can have just as much fun in your is250 as any 'toy'. I know I do occasionally.
