  1. Glad you posted those pics of your car because of that lip below the bumper. My car is missing that I think coz I've got a number of what look like mounting lugs under the bumper. Think I'll look for that lip to put on mine. Makes the car look even better. Your colour wheels look a lot like mine. Looks really good.
  2. Hello Mark and welcome to the best Lexus forum there is. Which IS model do you have?
  3. Did you find what was causing the noise?
  4. I'd say so Derek as he's used the word headlight.
  5. Thats a beautiful looking wheel and colour Steve. I'd love them on my car. I'm super careful now where kerbs are concerned. A few months ago I kerbed badly front kerb side. Very annoying with myself. Luckily there's a rather excellent wheel refurbishment place a 10 min walk away. 60 quid a wheel to strip/fix/powder coat. I'm sure i posted a pic or 2 back then but those rim protectors are a good idea. But I'd say of all those I've seen on cars I'd have to say only about 25% of them looked good. The rest either looked badly fitted or wrong colour or just plane cheap looking.
  6. Well today even though cold but dry I finally got to clean the MAF sensor and the throttle body (as best I could). Following numerous videos I disconnected the battery then removed the MAF sensor (that's an easy clean). After removing the duct pipe from airbox to throttle body I disconnected the multi plug to it. Took the 4 bolts out but there are 2 pipes connected to it and they look a massive pain to disconnect so I left them but in doing so it made manoeuvring the body very limited. Anyway copious amounts of spray cleaner and use of microfiber cloths I cleaned both faces of the body. Very surprised how much dirt was there. Anyway after leaving it all 30 mins so the spray cleaner evaporated I put everything back together. After a coffee I went to the car and started it. Oooops revs shot to 2 thousand and stayed there. Oh pooh I thought. So I took it for a near 10 mile run including motorway. Got back home idle dropped to 1500 revs. Mmmmm still not happy so I googled it. Found 2 items of interest. 1st video I've seen before. is250 specific. Method. Turn car on but not to start (so the needles go round then back) do that twice. Start car. Put handbrake on then into drive. Leave to idle whilst in drive for 4 minutes. Turn engine off. Repeat. I did this but my revs were now 1000-1100. 2nd video from a GM guy which actually made sense. Because in essence it was like a new throttle body the PCM needs to re learn. So this video says similar to first one except: Method start car and let it idle for 3 minutes. Shut off. Wait 1 minute. Start car again let it idle for 3 minutes. Shut off. Wait 1 minute. What I noticed was on the 2nd cycle (of 2nd video) the idle reduced to 750-800 revs. I took the car round the block flooring it where I could lol. Low and behold car idles as it should. Thought I'd post this so if anyone is thinking of doing the same and the same problem occurs you'll know the cure. Judging by the dirt in the throttle body thats a job once a year ( in warmer times)
  7. Yup as Linas stated. Your wheels are not anthracite.
  8. Thats a standard colour I believe. And yes be very kerb wary.
  9. Hi Vlady I've no idea why anything was done on my car in its history. I've only had it 6 months.
  10. Good find Paul 👍 now you can have your display on all the time you're driving
  11. Just been on My Lexus. Both rear brake calipers were replaced on my car in June 2016 @ 58k miles. I looked at my calipers in autumn. The pins and sliders came away easily so I greased them up and put them back in. So definitely yes to checking them at least once a year depending on mileage done.
  12. Though I'd put my two penneth worth. Just looked on My Lexus. Blimey my water pump was replaced in January 2014 @ 40.5k miles!!!!!!!!!! I'm on 80k now but fingers crossed no funny noises from my car.
  13. https://www.theclayclothcompany.co.uk/car-insurance-post-code-ratings.html This may be of interest to a good number of folk on here.
  14. Sorry to learn of your prang Bilal. What Linas has put may sound daunting but very well put and gives you a great insight. To repair that car with used parts would be high hundreds but thousands in new parts. If you are that way inclined as to do the repair yourself then I wonder if its possible to withdraw your car from the claim and cover the costs yourself or get some advice and quotes from any garages you know of. Keep us informed.
  15. That surprises me Paul. On my SE-L and come to think of it every car I've had with built in nav the nav screen and clock display the illumination dims automatically when the light outside gets below a certain level. Does your SE-I have on lights stalk a position named auto? If so then leave it on that setting. I don't know of a night mode but I'll look at mine just to look and see. Pity you didn't plum for the SE-L coz they have cornering lights.
  16. What kind of mpg you getting then Mike? On ultra short trips I'm getting very high teens. On a run of say 30 miles at legal speeds I'm getting mid to high 30's. I can't remember what age etc your car is and how many miles etc but maybe clean the MAF sensor and even the throttle body. I believe doing that improves the car.
  17. Hi Wolfgang. Wow I love that colour on your car and the wheel colour too. So you've had the car nearly a year. What few things aren't you satisfied with? I've had 2 of them and had no issues with them (except the 1st one which I fell out with because of the CVT which I wasn't used too and couldn't get to grips with but the 2nd one I loved to bits).
  18. Ahhh I kinda missed that, must be my age lol. Yes 225/45 front and 245/45 rear at 17 is standard but some gen 2 have 16's but don't know sizes. Yes suspension plays a great part in handling. My car handles great ok I've had New shockers on the back but I certainly don't get awful body roll. Possibly tyre skip at speed, only to be expected on cheap rubber which my car has on each corner lol.
  19. So Mike how are you finding your rear wheel drive car? You've started a thread which at times looks like a little war or words lol.
  20. Excellently put Lucas. There's nowt wrong with modding the gen 2 is as its a fabulous looking car in standard form but stunning in molded form. Your car as others I've seen online are a credit to you and their owners. Have you considered using a 225 on the front to see how it affects handling?
  21. You say you've tried the cheap components. Are they the ones I suggested and posted links for? If so I'm very surprised as mine work perfectly and the sound is superb. But where sound is concerned it depends on what your listening to. For example if I listen to Planet Rock the sound is very good. However if I listen to Radio 1 drum and bass show the sound is outstanding. Yes I have ML.
  22. I'm intrigued Lucas how much further out than standard your wheels sit further out. Do your wheels/tyres actually stick out beyond the wings?
  23. Personally speaking in a vast majority of cases of normal day to day driving the only difference is turning circle. Once you start to put your foot down then differences become more apparent.
  24. I recommend you register your car on the Lexus website service section (hope that makes sense). You'll need the lig book first though because you'll need a number from it. Once registered you'll be able to see the cars service history if its been done by Lexus. Its really good. Good to know you researched the is250. Brake caliper slide pins seem to be an issue. Its one thing Lexus don't look at when servicing (except if asked for). There's loads of info on here regarding all aspects of the car. If you fancy adding Bluetooth streaming capability then search it as I've done a post on it and answered others. As for a front spoiler. You have the f-sport so I think you have a bumper lip already but there are alternatives out there. Look on ebay. There's been a few on here done mods. Look up those threads as I'm sure you'll get links too. I know what you mean regarding CVT. My first is300h I loved initially but within weeks I hated it mind you I came from 25 years of manual gearboxes. Swapped it for the ecoboost mondeo then back to the is300h and loved it all the time I had it,even the RX450h I part exchanged it for.
