Have you tried ebay for CRC Valve Cleaner or can you try ebay? Where in Eastern Europe are you?
-
Yes it's weird how a new battery affects a car. But still worthwhile getting something like a CTEK.
-
Ah ok J. I didn't know you was in Eastern Europe. But you still could try a product like Seafoam and do regular oil changes. Yes your car is high mileage and probably been mistreated in its life. I suggest if you can get it then get a bottle of ZX1 and put it in you fresh oil. It won't cure anything except noise tappets but it'll micro coat all metal in the engine where oil gets and put a protective coat on it. It'll preserve what you have now and really help in its future health.

Blimey. It's like bolting the door after the horse has gone. Bluntly speaking. You bought a high mileage car which had a problem or two in its life. You've put a lot more miles on it and are now having issues. Unfortunately your car has had uncaring owners in its past. You seem to be a caring one which is good. Yes try a product like Seafoam or that other one (I forget its name). Its best to use it through the throttle inlet. Do an oil change a day or two after. What brand of fuel do you use? Use Super Unleaded. Maybe have your car Terraclean. When you've done those things just make sure you do oil changes every 3-4k miles religiously.

Might be worthwhile John you getting one of those CTEK battery refreshing gizmos. Because you don't use your car often the car still takes power to keep things in a state of stand-by. Must be enough to drain a battery to a point where starting becomes an issue.

Yet another MOT fail! Can someone help identify this part?
Mr Vlad replied to MrTrendizzle's topic in Brakes & Suspension
I'm surprised that Lexus Owners Don't use a Lexus dealer for MOT's. They don't charge any more than any other MOT station. Lexus provide a very good video mainly of the underside but if there's an issue above they show that too. It's appreciated however that sometimes a place like Halfords has to be used. I've praised them before recently and now because of some staff changes I'll not use Halfords again. I'll tell you why. 1: they at first stated they couldn't do a wheel alignment because the top suspension mounts were shot. What? I said. It passed its MOT only 2 weeks ago. After some gentle strong words the managed to align the wheels (the tracking was well out as was the steering wheel position) 2: Aircon recharge. They stated to me I had a massive leak which they couldn't find. All the gas had escaped within 10 minutes. I went elsewhere and guess what. They filled the system. Left it running for a few hours (I told them that halfords said there was a leak). No leak found and the system blows ccccold. Places like Halfords Kwikfit can be good places but it Totally depends on who works there. Only last year my local halfords was brilliant. Now it's #hit. I recommend Mr T you take your car to your nearest dealer for MOT'S in the future. -
GS450h Dash lite up like a Christmas Tree
Mr Vlad replied to Chris Wilkinson's topic in New Members Area
Hi Chris. First off welcome to the best Lexus forum there is. Because you are new here I strongly recommend you post your issue in the GS section of the forum. You'll get a better response and from fellow GS owners. -
Not really. Get the cheaper ones.

WOW a 1600e? Now that had a nickname if I remember right. The Blackmans Rolls Royce. Cracking cars. There's only one car I ever had an issue with a MAF sensor. A MG ZT Diesel. BMW sourced engine but made better by Rover. After fitting the superb RonBox and a Pieburgh MAF the car ran like stink. After swapping back to a Bosch one it ran like silk. Just goes to show even a reputable company brand can make dodgy items. Oh. I once forgot to plug the MAF back in in my beloved now gone is250 after cleaning the intake gubbins. Car ran very poorly with error lights onbthe dash. Oh silly me noticing when I had another look under the bonnet. How embarrassed I was lol.

All MAFS have scrawny pieces of wire gji. I hope you're not belittling Ford. One thing my Focus wipes the floor with the is250 is taking the headlight out. 2 screws and out it pops. No need to faff about undoing the bumper and removing part of the wheel well trim. Sheesh that was a job and a half.
-
Isn't it amazing how a scrawny piece of wire, basically that's what a MAF is made of, can affect a car.

LED question - and hello from IS250 Aussie newbie

I sit corrected Steve. Regarding the indicator colour. Best ask you local law inforcement office or your country's equivalent of the MOT. Pointless asking us Brits lol. -
Box Fresh IS250
Mr Vlad replied to J Henderson's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Yes stunning looking car but doubts must be cast. £9k tops I'd personally say or the full £15k with an Absolute No Quibble Gurantee on Everything and I mean EVERYTHING. -
Here we go again!

That's tough pooh Rayaans what happened to you. I'm gobsmacked at how little damage your RX suffered. Let's hope the boot floor hasn't warped in any way. It's the floor in my now defunct is250 that got damaged and deemed the car a write off after hitting backwards the Z posts on the motorway at about 40 mph. -

Lexus IS250 - P0420 - Cat efficiency below threshold bank 1
Mr Vlad replied to Sponelis's topic in Engine & Transmission
Lucas. An O2 sensor spacer is a spacer. What it does is enlarge the gap between the sensor head and the gubbins in the exhaust. The reason why some folk use them is it helps reduce wear on the sensor. It's meant to be illegal also I've read somewhere. I believe they use spacers for race cars. -

Mr Vlad replied to SteveGee's topic in Modifications & Tuning
Welcome to the best Lexus forum there is and to is250 ownership Steve. You're now hooked to is250 ownership which can't be bettered. As stated above. First try uprated halogen bulbs. They're pretty damn good nowadays. Going down the LED route is much more expensive because you need the ballasts and wiring etc. Maybe you could convert your front fog light's to spot lights? -
BMW diesels are very reliable and ruddy good cars. Unfortunately their petrol cars are the ones with the problems we all hear about.
-
To answer you Marcus. Having had 4 Lexus cars the once driven forever smitten scenario comes to the fore. It's unfortunate some members above have had bad luck with Lexus. Me? None at all. Yes last year the alternator packed up unexpectedly but on a 15 year old car it's to be expected. I'd never have a beemer or merc. I've had those owners come up to me when I had my is250 and ask what's it like. I believe they bought one because their German cars cost a ruddy fortune in repairs.
-
I don't blame your negatively towards Ford's Renato. I'd feel the same if I experienced similar. I've had 4 mk4/4.5 Mondeos and on my 3rd mk3 Focus. I've been lucky that I've had no issues with any. Ok I got my current one cheap and expected to spend on it which I have but it hasn't put me off it.
-
Well I'm an Ex Lexus owner due to my superb is250 being written off. I'm back in a Ford. Oh who said it. From caviar to baked beans? Absolutely NOT. My current Ford Focus drives every bit as good as the is250 I had.Nearly half the cubic capacity but ruddy hell quicker thanks to the turbo and more frugal with the go go juice too. Its also just as comfortable to drive. If only the is250 was a hatchback then ruck my tin hat it'd be the best of the best because that V6 is oh so wonderful. Would be the dogs dangle bits if it was turbo'd. So basically from Lexus to Ford yet again. And hopefully back in a Lexus in about a year.

Car vacuum cleaner, any recommendations?
Mr Vlad replied to HGUS's topic in Lexus General Discussions
If you've got a cordless vacuum cleaner then use that. If not then what ever you do Do Not buy one of those small cordless/battery operated vacuum jobies. As Tony the Tiger doesn't say "they're KRAP". ME? I use my Dyson animal. Well worth the money. Buy direct from Dyson. Best deals.
