Don't think he'll reply. Not been here since Aug 2016. Was only a member for a couple weeks. Maybe start a new thread.

Hi Jim. Welcome to the best Lexus forum there is. Unfortunately you've posted in the wrong section. Your car is a gen 2 IS. This section is gen 3. Who changed the battery and alternator? I suspect a wire has been misplaced or not connected. Hopefully a forum moderator will move this thread to gen 2. You'll get more replies.

Hi. The rubber boot is only a dust protector. I did an indepth post on how to swap one over and posted what I bought. My car had 90k miles at that point and the top mount is were like new. Get a 2nd opinion on your issue because I'd say your mechanic is talking from his behind.

Can anyone help identify this noise when accelerating?
Mr Vlad replied to chonkuszz's topic in Engine & Transmission
There will always be a little play in gears. Where the prop shaft joins the gearbox and a slight knock is heard when rotated by hand is normal. If it was indeed a very worn coupling then the noise heard when driving would be a constant ratatat type noise. The sound on your video is not constant. I'd be intrigued what your mechanic says when 'he' has a deeper look. -
I'm nearly an old codger, ukinell I feel like it lately. Car Tax. Too much BS on tinternet and too many good folk falling for it. The charge per mile is for those daft wats who foolishly bought one of those so called planet saving electric cars. Tho some wine swilling pot smoking dim witted toffy nosed t wat has put their ore in to say wot a gud idea for all motorists. Woke. Those ucking bottom holes are to blame for All the s hite that's going on around us. What the hell happened to common sense? I feel sorry for the younger generation. Having to put up with the krap given by this utter s hite government. To those who voted for them I put a curse on you. You cretins.

I've read this thread with interest. Having owned a 2012 RX450H for a year or so. That had near 100k miles on it when I had to let it go. I only used Premium fuel and with an octane booster. The engine oil got changed every 6k miles and regularly I drove it like I stole it. That car Never had issues. No jerkiness or shudders when slowing down from high speed. For those suffering similar follow what I did, did it with my is300h's and is250. All ran sweeeeeeeet.

Not knowing this model but that could be a loose exhaust shroud. Get your cat on a ramp and check them. It's quite possible they've become loose or a bolt has rusted making the shroud loose. -

Hi Gabriel. Colin could well be right regarding carbon build up. UK cars don't usually build up carbon unlike the American ones do. If your mechanic has an endoscope (small camera on a flexible lead) then simply remove an easily accessible spark plug and poke the endoscope down the hole and see what is down there. Carbon build up would be very obvious. Apart from that wait to see if Linas pops on to give his opinion, he's very knowledgeable about the is250. -
Glad to read, Stephen, you drink out of a chilled glass. 👍 I stopped making ginger ale ice cubes a while ago. My Deep South and Canada Dry are kept in my cold fridge. I chill my southern comfort glass for a couple hours before I enjoy my tipple. I've liked what I've read what you good folk like to drink. Alcohol was the sought replies but I was remis to think a few would not be alchohol drinkers. 👍

Blimey what an excellent project to do Linas. It's good that you're in a position to do it. Looking forward to this project of yours. Best of British to you 👍

WOW is this a new record? SEVENTEEN years between replies. Interesting thread. Think I'll phone a friend (where have I heard that before 🤣). He ran a RX350 on lpg for years but now has moved to the 'dark side' mercedes yuk! Just a few years ago I enquired about a lpg conversation on a RX350 and I asked lots of questions and got more answers. Not once was sparkplug mentioned 🤔.

Hi Ben and welcome to the best Lexus forum there is. Lovely set of cars you have. Good matching too. A drifter 430 eh? Nice. Grom. Not bad a unit but has/had flaws. Lots on here about it. See if you can get a Teyes unit. I know you can get a unit to turn your infotainment into Android auto and Apple carplay. It's about £450 but wioes the floor with Grom.

Good write up Linas. Let me put you straight about ZX1. It's not just an additive, which like most needs re adding annually, it's a liquid that attaches itself microscopically to All metal surfaces which the engine oil touches. It attaches itself and acts like a constant lubrication. It never leaves the metal its attached to like oil can. A few drops in the coolant will prolong water pump life. A few drops in fuel will prolong fuel pump life. It needs only one application. Hope that's enlightened you about it.

Don't just look for it Bogdan Get it. True example. Neighbour has an old S type 3.0 litre jag. Barely uses it. Starts it for half hour once a month. Goes for a run twice a year. Complained about a top end rattle. Garage told him tappets were knackered. I said get some ZX1. He came to mec2 weeks later saying that no more tappety noise. Chuffed as a chuffed thing.

That's a lovely looking wine rack Renato. The missus said wow when I showed your photo to her. I'm too embarrassed to take a photo of the top shelf of my fridge freezer. I'm down to 6 bottles of Deep South. Think a trip to asda is called for soon lol.

Blimey Rabbers. You have a wine cellar with between 250 and 300 bottles of wine? Where's our invititations to a wine party? You can't drink All those bottles by yourself surely.

Hey Sean. I'm no professional But I'm a true engineer tho not qualified. I seek solutions for everyday problems. That's what a true engineer is. No qualifications needed, just an effing good common sence head. I have a respect for you because you are getting your hands dirty trying to get to the bottom of your cars issues. Bravo to you m8 👏👍 and you're welcome

Oh Gray your doctor is sommat else. A couple weeks ago I had the NHS health check. Was asked about how much I drink. I lied. I at least halved what I drink and the nurse said I drink too much!!!!!! Your doctor must be a pi$$ head lol. Oh Dutchie. Your Duval light ale is as strong as Old Tom. This is only served in a 300-330ml bottle. At beer festivals they'll only serve it in a half pint glass. If I stay on it all evening I'll happily drink 5 bottles of it. Start at 6pm and finish 11pm. Not a drink to rush, but to savour.

Ahhhhh evidence of tampering up there eh? So something has made you recall that. You should investigate that and probably replace the invertor. You should know just because an electrical item has been replaced, doesn't mean it was replaced with a true new tested one does it? More like a used invertor from a scrapper fitted. I've used many many parts from scrappers in my time. Have to say that 40% of them weren't up to scratch.
