PCV VALVE REPLACEMENT/throttle bottle clean on IS250

I'm in Ireland and some ebay suppliers are not keen on supplying to ROI or if they do the cost of delivery can be excessive. -
PCV VALVE REPLACEMENT/throttle bottle clean on IS250

I would second Vlad's recommendation for the CRC products. I have found them great to use even if a little difficult to find. -
PCV VALVE REPLACEMENT/throttle bottle clean on IS250

I changed mine last year. Your safest bet is to get it from a dealer - the part number for mine was 12204-31040. I imagine yours would use the same part number. It was not expensive and you are assured that you are getting the correct part. Dec. -
Hi Sergio, Just be aware that since the start of January this year the rules ( and costs) for importing a car from the UK have changed dramatically. For example there is now a 10% Customs duty charge based on the cost of the car. Then on top of this there is VAT at 21% (returning to 23% from March.) on the ocst of the car plus duty plus any transport costs. This is before you have to pay the VRT (Vehicle Registration Tax) which will be based on the OMSP (Open Market Selling Price) which the Revenue assign to the particular model and year. It has become a minefield. Best of luck with your search. Dec.

Totally stuck

On the IS250 there is a 30amp fuse in the fuse box in front of the battery - fuse No. 16 - which controls the "Power door lock system / Security". I'm assuming the IS220d is the same - might be worth checking. Dec. -
Boot won't open
Beamish replied to iandlm's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Hi Ian, The fact that you can hear a click when you press the fob or the interior release button would indicate to me that it is not a fuse problem but possibly an issue with the wiring where it goes from the body to the boot lid. Ater years of opening and closing the wiring can fail. With the boot open try locking the lock with something like a screwdriver and then manipulating the wiring loom while at he same time pressing the boot unlock button on the fob. If it springs back to life you know that your problem is in the loom. Dec. -
Yes, DOT 5.1 is compatable with DOT 4.0.

Possibly flooded. Have a look at the following which I copied from a ten year old post. This morning my IS250 wouldn't start. The engine turned over but it wouldn't catch. This is the first time the car didn't start on the first attempt. I was fairly sure it wasn't a failing battery because the engine turned over quite strongly and the lights were working well and didn't dim. After trying this a few times over the space of about 15 mins, I gave up, emailed my apologies for the 9am meeting I knew I wouldn't make and called the AA. The big yellow van arrived within about 40 mins. No sooner was Mr AA out of the van and he asked me if I had moved the car. I said "No", thinking he was asking if I had tried to roll it. He clarified, looking at my narrow-ish driveway and asked "Did you start it up to move it out of the way of someone else". I remembered then that I had moved it briefly the previous afternoon and not used it since. The engine was probably running for all of 15 seconds. He proudly proclaimed "That's it! It's flooded!" Now, I didn't think cars flooded since the good old days of my mother, an old Fiat and a choke. (The three of them just didn't seem to work well together!) Apparently, I'm now well-informed, that an engine can flood if it is left running for less than a few minutes. It was a morning of revelations for me. Anyway, as Mr AA is explaining to me how to remedy the problem, I'm breathing a sigh of relief and hoping he's right, because I had visions of the car sitting on the back of a flatbed truck, on its way to Mr Lexus, with my credit card taped to the bonnet! The trick to starting the flooded engine, I readily observed, is to depress the accelerator. This tells the car to stop pumping fuel to the cylinders. Smart, but too-smart for me. I'd never have guessed at that bit of counter-intuitive logic. But, it worked. After three cycles of cranking the engine with the accelerator depressed, presumably burning off the excess petrol in the engine, the car started with the accelerator released. Hope this may be of help, Dec.

Hi Colin, The part number I quoted in my earlier post is what was on my Invoice from Lexus last year but the actual part number would appear to be PT933-53100-WS. Apologies about the link. Try this one: 2FCF0E90E4D21C4F8825759B006F0647_IS250-350 ConvertibleWindScreen II 2-12-09 (2).pdf Links are not my forte as you may have guessed!! Mark's has everything covered in any event. Dec.

Hi Colin, The inserts/fitting kit is available as a seperate part from Lexus but is expensive at around £70. The part no. is: TPT93353100WS. This may also be of help: file:///C:/Users/decmc/Downloads/2FCF0E90E4D21C4F8825759B006F0647_IS250-350%20ConvertibleWindScreen%20II%202-12-09.pdf Dec.

This is from a post by Stupot in November last year: Worth reading as if they phase out E5 Petrol and you can only get E10... Lexus say the following... From this site https://www.acea.be/uploads/publications/ACEA_E10_compatibility.pdf Lexus: E10 petrol is cleared for use in all Lexus European petrol models made from January 1998, excluding: • IS250 2.5 litre V6 with engine 4GR-FSE made between August 2005 and September 2007. • GS300 3.0 litre V6 with engine 3GR-FSE made between January 2005 and September 2007. • LS460 4.6 litre V8 with engine 1UR-FSE made between August 2006 and September 2007. Might be of interest to some.

Great result Gary. Sounds like my normal computer glitch fix - turn it off, plug it out, wait, plug it in, switch it back on and amazingly, all is well again!!! Enjoy, Dec. -

Is your battery in good health? Have you tried to close it with the car running with the revs at about 2000RPM? -
The rims shown on the SE-L are standard 17" and not the optional 18" Hoshi as they claim in their description.

Sorry Vlad but I don't know the size of the crush washers as the old ones have gone in the bin some time ago. The part number however is 90430-16012 and they are inexpensive. I have read where people have reused the old ones without issue so taht may be worth a try. Dec.

There are two, one on each bank. The fit into the open end of the banjo bolts numbered 15771A in the above illustration.
