  1. I'm not familiar with the manual car but I would expect that there is a switch on the clutch pedal which controls the activation of the green light on the start button. Perhaps this is faulty? Just a thought.
  2. Great idea but at €149 per key ( on the Slovak website ) it is not cheap. However, if it is proven to be effective, it is probably worth the investment.
  3. I would be inclined to suspect a failing alternator.
  4. Apologies, I should have read your post more carefully. Yes it would appear that the "Garnish" is a one piece unit and comes colour coded. Unfortunately I would imagine that you have little chance of finding one other than from Lexus. Dec.
  5. The lights show up as being available individually for the IS250C but they won't be cheap! 81270D Lamp Assy, License Plate, Rh [04.2009 -] GSE20 81270-53021 US $75.71 SHOW 81690A Lamp Assy, License Plate, Lh [04.2009 -] GSE20 81690-53011 from
  6. It may be flooded from your earlier attempts to start. Have a quick read of this: This morning my IS250 wouldn't start. The engine turned over but it wouldn't catch. This is the first time the car didn't start on the first attempt. I was fairly sure it wasn't a failing battery because the engine turned over quite strongly and the lights were working well and didn't dim. After trying this a few times over the space of about 15 mins, I gave up, emailed my apologies for the 9am meeting I knew I wouldn't make and called the AA. The big yellow van arrived within about 40 mins. No sooner was Mr AA out of the van and he asked me if I had moved the car. I said "No", thinking he was asking if I had tried to roll it. He clarified, looking at my narrow-ish driveway and asked "Did you start it up to move it out of the way of someone else". I remembered then that I had moved it briefly the previous afternoon and not used it since. The engine was probably running for all of 15 seconds. He proudly proclaimed "That's it! It's flooded!" Now, I didn't think cars flooded since the good old days of my mother, an old Fiat and a choke. (The three of them just didn't seem to work well together!) Apparently, I'm now well-informed, that an engine can flood if it is left running for less than a few minutes. It was a morning of revelations for me. Anyway, as Mr AA is explaining to me how to remedy the problem, I'm breathing a sigh of relief and hoping he's right, because I had visions of the car sitting on the back of a flatbed truck, on its way to Mr Lexus, with my credit card taped to the bonnet! The trick to starting the flooded engine, I readily observed, is to depress the accelerator. This tells the car to stop pumping fuel to the cylinders. Smart, but too-smart for me. I'd never have guessed at that bit of counter-intuitive logic. But, it worked. After three cycles of cranking the engine with the accelerator depressed, presumably burning off the excess petrol in the engine, the car started with the accelerator released. Has anybody else encountered this problem? I've read elsewhere that this starting procedure this can damage the cat in some cars - is that possible? Should Mr AA (to whom I was very grateful at the time) have done this? If it's okay, why don't Lexus describe the procedure in the manual?
  7. Very sad news on this St. patrick's Day. He will be greatly missed. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
  8. On the drivers side the adjuster is at the 9 o'clock position and at the passenger side it is at the 3 o'clock position. Before you adjust at the rear wheel, slacken off the cable completely in the footwell. Adjust at he wheels till they are just begining to bind, slacken off a notch then adjust the cable in the footwell to take up any free play in the foot lever. Hope this helps. Dec.
  9. Only the dipped beam is Xenon, D4S I beleivef from memory. Main beam is HB3 as you listed above John.
  10. I beleive the battery fitted to the IS220d is a 90/95ah unit and is approximately 30mm longer than the 068 size. The Bosch S4026 will obviously fit but at 70ah is well under spec. As regards Yuasa batteries, I can only report as I find and having used them as my battery of choice for several years I have never had an issue. It may not be widely known that for a good number of yers now Panasonic branded car batteries are owned and manufactured by Yuasa.
  11. Go to Megazip.net and enter your car's VIN number in the search box. It will bring up the parts diagrams for your car and indicate the part numbers. Dec.
  12. Were the "Anti Squeal shims" replaced/refitted? Perhaps a little coppergrease or brake paste on the contact points of the pads would help alleviate the problem.
  13. Hi Bill, I use Megazip for the diagrams and part numbers. This is the link: https://www.megazip.net/zapchasti-dlya-avtomobilej/toyota/lexus-is-42401/gse20-57089/gse20r-aktlhw-926192 If you enter your VIN in the search box at the top of the page it will bring up the diagrams relevant for your car. Hope this is of help. Dec.
  14. Try Lexus for a price. I got the top part of the hold-down bracket from Lexus some time ago and from memory it was'nt in any way expensive. Part number for my car (2009 IS250C) is: 74408-22030 74408-22030
  15. I had the same problem with a 2006 IS250 fitted with Xenon lights and new bulbs sorted it. You could try swapping the lefthand and righthand bulbs around and see if the problem moves which would confirm that the problem is the bulb. In any event it would be best practice to replace the bulbs in pairs as the colour and light output diminishes as the bulbs age. Dec.
  16. Hi Nick, The item you have pictured would appear to be the oil filter housing where it connects to the engine. I imagine that the leak is from the water pump itself and is making it's way down unseen behind the pulley. Dec.
  17. Check to ensure that the MAF sensor is connected.
  18. Early Renault 4 for one, together with a three speed manual box!!! My first car.
  19. Hi Dan, I agree with what Dave and Bilal have said above. These are lovely cars abd are superbly well engineered. Roof leaks are not an issue and in my nearly four years of ownership I have had absolutely no issues with the car. There were only roughly 800 examples registered in the UK from 2009 to 2012 and good examples for sale seem to be getting harder to find so if the right car comes up I would'nt hesitate too long. Best of luck. Dec.
  20. Should be fine. Job done.
  21. That is the temperature sensor which you are holding between your fingers. If you simply tape it to the side of the battery towards the top it should function as normal.
  22. Hi John, I just checked on my car and I also have the same plug and just like yours it is not connected to anything so I don't imagine it is anything to be concerned about. The connection for the temperature sensor would be on the other side of the battery and may or may not have the sensor attached to it. The sensor would normally be clipped to the battery enclosure which is missing from your car. You can see it attached to the enclosure in the photo you posted. The seperate plate shown in the photo sits below the battery and should probably still be present in your car though you would probably have to remove the battery to confirm. Hope this helps. Dec.
