  1. Having come from a Range Rover (Hyundai Tucson in between) to me the RX450 I got first (2011) was not as big so did not feel the "huge" you feel it is. This 2017 RX450 I have now is a little bigger but still not "huge" size of the Rangie which I sometimes feel a little lacking when trying to get all my camping (glamping) equipment in it.. but that is my fault liking luxury camping as i get older, maybe have to treat myself to a roof rack and topbox to help. Parking is easy enough, my only concern is others scratching the paintwork with coat zips and bags etc so I try and park it in quieter parts of carparks.
  2. My dad used to skim brake discs for a local garage years ago, at the time that garages repaired faults rather than just replaced parts. The discs he would skim were ones that had got pitted ands would still be within manufacturer limits but he would never skim a disc that had warped. He actually made a brake disc for a motorbike from an old man hole cover that the owner gave him one time. We were always taught never to hold the car on the brakes when stopped but put it in neutral and handbrake onto stop the heat transfer from warping the disc, but the majority of cars we owned then were manual rather than automatics. i would have thought that brake discs these days though were better made than back then and made out of more resilient metals, ventilated etc.
  3. Do you know anyone that have tried the new Geolander CV G058 M+S yet, I was wondering if they would be any good all year around like the All Season Pirelli's I had on my Gen3 RX
  4. Thanks but just had a look at their website and they don't stock anything that size
  5. Looking for opinions for recommendations for tyres for an RX450h Gen4. Tyre size is 235x55x20 which limits the tyres available.. looking for good value for money ones and capable of handling snow if and when we get it.
  6. Some have used other makes of battery on here that I have seen but not sure which ones. If you try Lexuspartsdirect.co.uk they are cheaper at around £180 for the Gen3 Rx you have and you have the security in that they are an actual Lexus dealer (Swindon I think). Not sure what is so special about the battery for the Gen3 though as the Gen4 is only around a third of the price.
  7. Which position is the light switch on when yoi are checking the rear lights?
  8. Yep, thats the way, I got my local garage to do mine when it needed doing.
  9. How exactly have you charged the battery?
  10. I had the two rear tyres on the 2011 Rx450h I had have the same problem. The front ones had been changed around 18 months ago but the rear ones were on when I got the car three years ago and they were loosing a slight amount of air past the beading. All it needed was the tyres removed and resealed again, the sealant can loose its effectiveness over time.
  11. We might be getting a new member on here. I had emailed the dealer to see if was OK putting the link to their site with my old RX450h they had for sale. They said no problem and are going to give the new owner details of this owners club when the new owner pick it up from them
  12. It used to be the case like that and maybe still for some cars but even as early as 2001 with the Nissan Primera I had that was fine. It had the projector type dipped beam, and like most cars these days, had a flat dipped beam pattern, rather than one that kicked up to the left, so did not need deflectors fitted for EU or headlights changed if moving it abroad.
  13. I part exchanged it on 27th August then Teesside Lexus sold it to Newlands around 18th Sept. I spotted it on Newlands site on 23rd Sept, now sold yesterday 1st Oct. Shows how the name Lexus is respected.
  14. Well, Newlands has not had it long .. it now has SOLD on their website a week later. Maybe the new owner will find us here and join (although they might already be a member)
  15. After owning this newer one for around a month now I actually like both the position of it and especially the size, makes thing much easier to read then the ones that are buried low down with small screens. I love the way you can have the seats linked to the Climate Control to automatically put heat or cooling of the seats on depending on the temp settings of the climate control. The only thing I miss, so far, from my 2011 is the 6 disc CD system on it (I guess I am old fashioned in I like my CD's rather than MP3) Yet to drive it late at night to see if the auto dip main beams work effectively or not. The only other downside of this 2017 is the lack of much choice of tyres for it (especially All Season ones) because of the sizes.
  16. https://www.newlandsmotorco.co.uk/used-cars/lexus-rx-450h-3-5-se-i-cvt-4x4-5dr-mitcham-202009153748308 The garage site has a quite a few pictures
  17. VF11 JJZ... looks like they have another two RX450h's but just sold them
  18. Just spotted my 2011 RX450h that I part exchanged last month on Autotrader. Teesside Lexus sold it to the trade and its turned up in Surrey in a garage called Newlands. I got around £9000 part ex for it and Newlands have it up for £11495 which is about what I would expect... hope the next owner is as happy with it as I was.
  19. From what i experienced with my 2011 RX450 it got better mpg than what owners had been saying with the RX400. Over the 3 year I had it I got an average of 28 mpg driven enthusiastically. In the one month I have had my 2017 RX450 it has achieved an average of 32mpg .. again driven enthusiastically. Looks like they are definitely improving it over time. I have noticed that my 2017 RX seems to want to use EV more than my 2011 did at just under 40mph.
  20. I remember a motoring program (think it was 5th Gear) that took an old car to a rolling road to test the power out put as it was then started to change a few thinks, mostly ones that would be done during a service ie oil, air filters, spark plugs, HT leads etc. All gave an increase in the power output to gradually get closer to the original output when new. One they did was to put one of these cleaning products into the fuel tank (think it was Reddex) and that also helped with a power increase after it had cleared some of the carbon build up.
  21. No I did not tow or use it on rough ground. Its something not just affecting Lexus... the Lexus dealer said it was actually the first time they had to replace one on an RX450h When it happened to my Hyundai, the garage repairing it also has a newer Ford Focus in for the same thing .. maybe due to increase use of speed humps and big pot holes.
  22. I had to replace a rear spring (left side) that had snapped on my 2011 RX450h just earlier this year but also had to do the same on a Hyundai Tucson I had before that (the Lexus spring was over 4 times the price to buy.
