  1. I used Start Rescue for a year a few years ago after I left the AA due to them putting the premiums up for their long term customers. I chose them due to the price and had to use them twice on my motorbike due to a flat back tyre and a fuel pump relay. Unfortunately they were a complete waste of time. First was a puncture on the bike on the A1M just before the A64 turning near York I told them I was on a motorbike and first they asked me if I was carrying a spare tyre??? 🙄 then was the problem of them finding me, the person at the other end could not find the A1M or the A64 or even York on their map and when eventually they sent a breakdown truck they had told him I was around 40 miles north of where I actually was (that was even after telling the call handler the junction number of the sign I was parked up next to) The second time was a little better in finding me (fuel pump relay) but even with road numbers and junction numbers and the nearest town they did not seem to be able to read maps (this was before What3Words etc) I left them as soon as got it fixed and joined Green Flag was with them until Sept last year when I changed to the 2017 RX which came with a years Lexus Breakdown cover, from what I have read I will be sticking to Lexus cover from now on.
  2. I know that my previous Gen3 RX had an Ice/snow mode but cant seem to find it on the Gen4 I have now and cant see it in the manual (maybe blind) Does anyone know if it is still there in the Gen4 and how to get to it. Thanks
  3. I had a 2011 RX450H before getting my 2017 one and had to jump start it around June time as it had not been used and had not been running it. Had no problems at all attaching the crocodile clips under the bonnet on the correct places. I like the dark rear windows on them, makes it much more private and stops people from seeing anything in the back. Both mine have not had sun roofs but neither have my last 4 cars now and frankly would not really use them anyway when the cars have climate control.
  4. TJB, you will have to keep us updated on this especially for the wear rate on them. I was thinking of them but ended up having two of the new Yokohama Geolander G058 fitted to the front of mine, so far they have proved to be good for noise level and roadholding even in the two big snowfalls we have had over the last two weeks. Some tyre places are advertising them as summer tyres but Yokohama advise them as All Season.
  5. I have a 2017 RX450h that I have had since end of August and have no problems with mine (same as the 2011 I had before it). You have to let the engine warm up in order to get heat out of it but that is the same as any car and within 2 miles it is getting up to temperature inside the car. On cols days when icy I start the car while clearing the ice off the car and put the heat directed to the windscreen so it is clear once I get in to drive it. The heated seats are also set to automatic so linked into the Climate Control of the car so comes on full when it is cold then turns themselves down as the inside temp goes up.
  6. Not sure if this is just the 2020 onwards but I spotted this a few days ago to answer someone asking about towing with an ES Towing capabilities of new Lexus range
  7. When I had my 2010 RX450h during lockdowns, I used to sit it it for an hour each week with it in P to charge up the 12V battery then take it for a run around the block on a 4 mile route that one long section was downhill which was then enough to recharge the traction battery back up to the top again. When sat with it in P charging up the 12v battery the traction battery used to go down to two bars then the engine kicked in to take it up two or three bars. With this 2017 RX450h it seems more keen to keep the traction battery over half way when sat in P charging the 12v battery and starts the engine up sooner but when on the road it also seems more keen for the EV to kick in at around 40mph then the Gen3 did, maybe one reason the mpg is slightly better in the Gen4.
  8. Not got the FSport myself but a 2017 Luxury and there is no vibration at all well over 80mph so I would not think it would be the spoiler, more like the wheel balance as 08ISF suggested.
  9. Is this colour close enough for you? A bit above your budget though .. unless its really tempting. Red 2017 RX450h
  10. I went from a 2011 RX450h to a 2017 one in August. The 2017 is even smoother drive and slightly better fuel economy, it seems more eager to use the EV side than the Gen3. The exterior design is growing on me and love the LED lights. I never had any problems at all with the ICE on either the 2011 or this 2017, I am right handed but have no problem using my left hand on the "mouse" The engine gives enough power to surprise a lot of other road users, especially seeing it is in a vehicle weighing over 2200kg The only downside of the Gen4 to the Gen3 is more limited choice for tyres in 20 inch size to the 19 inch on the Gen3. For me the size of the vehicle is not a problem (don't have 360 camera) as it is feels smaller than the Range Rover P38 I had a couple of cars before the 2011 Gen3. The only problem I have had with the size is some multi story carparks with tight turns between levels where the front parking sensors have been very useful.
  11. Thanks, those pictures are ok. I was wondering if they fitted it central on the front screen how they avoided getting in the way of the cars own camera but it looks like the dashcam is offset to the left of centre.
  12. Could I ask, has anyone got a dashcam fitted to a Gen4 RX450h, especially the one that Lexus dealers sell you. If so can you please post a pic of it and how it looks, where it has been placed and does it interfere with the built in camera the car uses for speed sign recognition etc?
  13. I changed mine three times in the 3 years I had mine on the 2011 (used to replace them each spring once the last of the frost was over) and cant remember having any problems with changing them at all. Replaced the back one once but got my local garage to do that one. It will be interesting first time I change the ones on this one (if I can remember the tip to get the arms to stop clear of the bonnet)
  14. Sorry cant answer your question but that user name is interesting, are you a previous TR7 owner? I used to have one myself a lot of years ago when I was 24.
  15. £864 for fitting??? How long does it take to fit one or how much an hour do they charge for labour? I am sure over this way the labour charges is only around £80 an hour so that would be around 10 hours labour .. they must not want the work there.
  16. Have a look at pages 66 and 67 of the owners handbook, not sure if the ones for the Gen3 is the same as my Gen4 but for mine it is saying not to fit a car seat in the middle seat.
  17. I also just paid £115 at the end of August for my 2017 RX450h that I just bought because it was first registered in March 2017. If it had been first registered in April 2017 onwards t would have been £455.
  18. That's one thing I miss going from my 2011 RX to this 2017. The 2011 had a 6 CD changer but the 2017 only can put one in. I have just started putting my CDs that I want to play in the car onto a USB memory stick.
  19. Does anyone know which 2017 models are affected by this? Mine was first registered March 2017 nothing is showing up the government recall info for it.
  20. I did but at the request of my own insurance company when I had a Hyundai Tucson. Both my insurance company and his were part of the same group so mine asked if I was OK if his insurance company handled it all. It was just a light hit from behind which needed a replacement bumper and small dent in rear tailgate fixed. His insurance company arranged for a hire car for me who picked me up from the repair centre to the hire car... they had got a brand new Toyota Auris with 7 miles on the clock delivered for me 20 mins before I arrived.
  21. Don't forget that your reversing lights only come on when you select reverse and go off again when you take it our of reverse so you just need to wire the camera up to the reverse light wire in the rear of your car to power the camera.
  22. Ah .. ok ..hope you are enjoying it. How long have you had it? I just recently put my 2011 RX450h in part exchange for a 2017 RX450h. My 2011 ended up being sold in Surrey so maybe the new owner might join up here sometime.
  23. Hi, is it black by any chance.. from Newlands?
  24. I am insured with Bell insurance, and have been for the last few years, which is part of the Admiral Group which also includes Admiral, Elephant and Diamond. Changing from a 2011 RX450h to a 2017 RX450h cost no extra at all at the end of August. In my previous car (Hyundai Tucson) about two weeks after getting it I was rear ended at slow speed in roadworks with slight damage to my rear bumper ad dent in rear tailgate. The driver that hit me was also insured by an Insurance company in the Admiral group (Elephant), so when I phoned them they told me the other driver had already reported it and would I be open to his insurance company handling it all rather then both. I agreed and his insurance company arranged for my car to go to the body repairers and provide me with a curtest car through Enterprise. When they took me to Enterprise I found a brand new Toyota Auris with 7 miles on the clock waiting for me that had just been delivered 20 minutes before. You always find out how good an insurance company is when you actually need them and if the rest of the Admiral Group is as good as Bell and Elephant when needed you will have found a good value for money company there.
