  1. I was one that was part of that club ... my height sensor which attaches to the rear offside suspension snapped a bracket when coming back from camping in June. The first thing you spot (on the RX450h) is the AFS light comes on and a warning message saying Check AFS. Had a look for replacement prices for the sensor and had a word with my local garage who welded the bracket for £20
  2. Well the time had come for my cars MOT, the first one since I got it last Oct. Dropped it off at the local garage to where I work around 8am and was told they would call me before lunch. Got a text at 9am saying it had passed and ready to collect ... no advisories at all ... that has made me very happy today. Those MOT worries over for this year at least.

  3. I think the Lexus dealers have it as a 3 hour job. When I got mine done earlier this year it was by a local trusted garage, took them 3 and 1/2 hours but they only charged me for 2 hours.
  4. After reading your post I have been having a look at pictures of the RX400 front online ... have a look at them ... it looks like on others there is a trim around the bottom of the headlight similar to that which runs around the sides and top of it ... looks like its missing in your pics .. especially the second one which shows it up best.
  5. I beleive the aerial is incorporated in the rear spoiler and rear window.
  6. They were released in 2010 for some of the Asian markets, especially China which imposes extra taxes for imported vehicles over 3L. Will stick with the RX450h though, much more fun (legal of course)
  7. Have you had a look at the gear linkages to see if they need adjusting or something happened to stop it going into P properly? If it need to be in P for the system to set itself to ready then maybe something is stopping it going into P properly or the sensors think it is not in P so wont set itself up. I had an old Range Rover P38 auto a few years ago that needed a new linkage cable and adjusting as it would not go into P properly ... started off with the gearshift getting stiff from N to P.
  8. So if this sensor on the rear offside suspension is for the height is there another one on the steering system, , if so does anyone know where abouts it is?
  9. On my way back from a camping holiday in Suffolk i had a warning light start flashing (ASF Check) and at first was going to stop then realised it was the headlight aim system so carried on as did not need the lights. Had a look an here when I got back and found a few mentions of the height sensor on the rear offside suspension so had a look and found the bracket had snapped where the adjusting rod connects to the supension (furthest from the sensor). Saw some of the prices they were mentioning on here for a replacement so popped it over to my friendly local near work and asked them to have a look. One repaired (welded) bracket and £20 cash and no warning light anymore. One thing I am curious about ... this ASF system ... I switched it on when setting things up on the car .... what exactly does it do .. is it height only or direction aim too? How does it work and ... does it actually work and make a difference?
  10. Don't know what the one in the RX400 is like but attached a couple of pics of my screens. The first shows the screen that appears when you press the Destination Icon .. shows the first page of options. At the top is the 1/2 Icon which when you press then shows screen 2 which you then see the Post Code option.
  11. I dont know if the one on the RX400 is like the RX450 I have but on mine it is on the second page of the choices of how to enter the destination .. on mine at the top of the screen with the choices is one showing 1/2 .. click this and Post Codes is on the second page.
  12. Passerby, on the RX4540h some are DVD and others are built and and has to be done via USB. Mine was the latter and was dealer done at £160, took around 3 hours during which they did a complimentary Hybrid check and washed it.
  13. Sorry cant help but I had my 2011 RX450h Sat Nav updated from the original one to the 2017 one last Oct/Nov and have had no problems with it but this is on the one that the update is done via USB rather than disc. Good luck and enjoy the trip and let us know if you find what the problem was.
  14. Just shows different peoples taste ... I prefer the roof rails on and have had them on all the 4x4's I have owned starting with the Suzuki Grand Vitara XL7. Not only did I prefer the look with them on but they, plus the side steps, were useful when trying to reach to wash the roof. The only one that did not have them was an old Range Rover P38 I had a couple of cars ago.
  15. Thanks, that has given an idea where the problem could be with the two nearest fasteners.
  16. I have been noticing that the part of the front bumper panel on my 2011 RX450h keeps parting slightly at the top of the offside just on the corner where it is next to the indicator/ lights. Does anyone know if there is some sort of fixing there that could be broken and do you know if it is easily got to and replaced or repaired?
  17. When you are there see if they still have the blue RX450h F-sport in the showroom and have a good look round and sit in .. then come back and tell us yoou are not tempted.
  18. Not got an FSport but on a 2011 SE-I mine is around £550 for business use. Post codes can make a vast difference.. a friend of mine near Manchester tired it with his Goldwing and keeping everything the same the quote for his was more than double that using my post code.
  19. The Lexus dealer in Carlisle told me it was 3 hours at £80 an hour.. plus VAT plus the cost of the 6 spark plugs. The £227 it cost me included the cost of the 6 plugs at £89 plus VAT
  20. When I bought this 2011 RX450H from a garage it appeared that it had a full service history, the garage servicing it at the 71,000 miles when I got it and a previous Lexus stamp at 58,000 miles. I thought this one would have been the spark plug change but after checking with the dealer found it was the 50,000 miles one done late so it had missed the spark plug change. The Lexus dealer told me it was a 3 hour job at £80 per hour (+VAT I guess). Took it to a garage I have been using over the road from where I work and trust them for both the work they do and the bills. Also the owner has a Merc M Class Hybrid and they have worked on Lexus models before too. When I went to collect it I was having a joke with the mechanic as to how much they have to remove to get to the back ones and it took them just over the 3 hours. Went to pay the bill and was informed (to my delight) they were only going to charge me 2 hours labour (at £50 per hour) so ended up with a bill of £227 .. a lot less than I was expecting. I hope this Lexus proves as reliable as they are supposed to be and that the previous owner has not bypassed any other important work... does not look like it thought according to the online owner info.
  21. Haha .. its called willpower. Lexus Teesside has a brand new MK4 RX450 F Sport in blue with light interior .. the dark wheels setting it off perfect, in my view. I have had a good look around the outside of it the last twice I have been there BUT I have resisted sitting in it .... SO Far.
  22. I thought the OP was asking about the windscreen not an engine heater, how would an engine block heater help deice a windscreen? I would have thought that, with everything else on the RX that they would have had a front screen heating element in it. I know my 2011 does not, does the new models? I just use both a scraper and then if needed a spray of de icer .. don't like the old aerosol ones but don't know if you still get those anyway.
  23. I bought a mini car charger by Samsung and leave it connected just to plug the phone in when needed. There also appears to be a 12v socket in the cutout under where the gear lever/ mouse are on the passenger side which could be more suitable,, just means having to find somewhere to keep your phone from miving about, maybe in the cupholder?? Oh, sorry mine is a 2011, and just bought it, so may be different depending on what year you have.
  24. From what I can see so far there is no change to the interface from the original 2010-11 to this one, only the maps and, I presume, an update to the Postcodes, etc. The cost was £160.
  25. Well got the first thing on my list to do with my new purchase. Had it booked in this morning at my local Lexus Dealer to have the Sat Nav updated from its original 2010-11 maps etc to the 2017-18 ones. Took around 3 hours in total but that included a curtesy check of the vehicle, oil, tyre, coolant, etc plus it being washed.
