  1. I have a 2011 RX450h and had a 3 month old IS300h as a courtesy car for a day. I could not wait to give it back and get mine back again but the main reason was I have driven 4x4s for the last 15 year and struggled to climb back out of the IS300h. The IS300h did not seem to have the same oomph that the RX450h did either.
  2. I know that the RX400 had problems with batteries draining if left unused for a couple of weeks or so but does anyone know how long the RX450h can be left unused before action needs to be taken?
  3. I got some from RMB Teesside from the Toyota side of the business there.
  4. I updated mine just over two years ago (RX450h 2011) from the original 2011 maps to the 2017 ones. I cost me £160 from RMB Lexus Teesside via a USB stick and took over 2 hours to complete but included a Hybrid Check . Someone just recently had a quote from a Lexus dealer near London and was given a price around £380 so it may depend on what the dealer is like you go to.
  5. Can you ask them how much of that is for labour? RMB Lexus up here did not charge anything because once the upgrade is started (can take a couple of hours) they can just walk away and leave it.
  6. Did that quote you have include a figure for labour? If so how much? I have just had a look at my invoice and it was £133.33 +VAT for the upgrade with nothing charged for labour and included a hybrid check and car washed. RMB Lexus (Teesside) For me as my eyes are telling me I am getting older (reading glasses) the bigger screen of the built in Satnav is better than using a mobile phone Satnav.
  7. I updated my 2011 when I bought it around Oct/ Nov 2017 to the latest 2017 maps/ software. Mine had to be done by the dealer from a USB stick and cost around £160 including a "free" Hybrid system check. I am not left handed but find the mouse controls ok to use with left hand and something you get used to inputting post codes etc. I prefer this inbuilt SatNav to my former Tomtom as its a lot faster to reroute if you miss a turning and a lot bigger and clearer screen when driving.
  8. Is this currently more of a problem down the South and South East of you country as I don't seem to hear about this happening up here, maybe for the lack of the numbers of people from a certain part of the EU up here?? … or is that comment going to get me banned or reprimanded on here.... ask the people in Malta what their only crime problem is there.
  9. Lexus part no is 48231-48581, if you or anyone else manages to find them cheaper elsewhere please let us know.
  10. Unfortunately they are dealer supply only. One of mine has just snapped on a 2011 RX450h. Unfortunately the bottom bolt has also seized (carrier to hub) and they will need to cut it off. The bolt has taken nearly 3 weeks to come but they have also had to order a replacement hub as if it damages the bush the bolt goes through this is not a separate item but attached to the hub, meaning nearly £800 in parts alone rather then just a spring and bush. If anyone has an RX450h especially an older one I would advise you check these lower bolts to make sure they are not seized and if they are not then keep them greased or replace them asap.
  11. I was at the Caravan and Camping Show last year and asked about the Gen4 RX450h when there. From the information the towbar dealer there had the Gen3 RX450h was no problem with them and others supplying towbars for them The Gen4 was a different matter and, according to their info, not all Gen4 RX450h's are able to tow (just certain levels) and those that are were Lexus dealer supply and fit only.
  12. Mine is a 2011 RX450h and I had the SatNav updated around 2 year ago when I first bought it. Upgraded from 2011 to 2017 maps and software. Lexus Teesside used a USB stick for this which they had to obtain from Lexus UK. It cost around £160 and took around two and a half hours with a hybrid system check included. For myself it works well and I gave my old SatNav away. Lexus Teesside gave me the USB stick that they had used to do the update
  13. The SatNav update was around £160 two years ago done via a USB stick by the dealer and took around two and a half hours (but this included a complimentary Hybrid check and wash), this updated the SatNav maps and software to 2017 (there may be a newer update to this now). No idea about the DAB radio though as my 2011 does not have it.
  14. They still had it around three weeks ago, they had it on display at Wynyard Hall at the Supercar Show on the stand of Teesside Lexus (RMB).
  15. Now that makes me jealous .. the drophead looks better than the hardtop. Loved mine, parking was an art, could not see the front (just where the bonnet joined the windscreen) unless you put the headlights up than added around 8 inches. Could not see any of the back through the rear window unless you eased yourself up in the seat and tiptoed the pedals... but great fun.
  16. If its anything like the Range Rover P38 I had then the air tank is there to enable the suspension to give a fast response to the changes in height of each suspension unit. Without it you are relying on the compressor to be nearly constantly working to allow the suspension to make alterations. With the air tank then the air is taken out of the tank as required then the compressor is just used to keep the tank at a suitable pressure. Noticed your user name .. I am guessing you are a former TR7 owner? Mine was a S reg in red with black roof.
  17. Mine is a 2011 and if I switch off the vehicle when you have a window open you get that message. If you then select that you want the windows closed the car closes them for you.
  18. One of the biggest factors is your Post Code. A friend of mine, who lives near Manchester, carried out a test for insurance for his Honda Goldwing. Got a quote from his insurance company using his own address, then also got a quote using my address. Everything apart from the address was kept the same and the quote using my address was half that using his own near Manchester.
  19. I got the map update done on mine when I got it in Oct 2017. It was one of the USB systems and cost £160, took about 3 hours in total including an inclusive Hybrid system check. I much prefer the built in sat nav to the old TomTom I used to have.
  20. I must be one of the few that actually likes the SatNav in the RX450h. I updated mine when I got the car from the original 2011 to 2017. It is much quicker to find routes and amend them if taking a different turning to the one it says than the old TomTom I used to use. In my old car I used the Tom Tom in around the position this built in one is anyway and prefer that position especially with the 8 inch screen compared to the 5 inch of TomTom. The only thing it misses for me is there is no speed indicator …. but for me that's what my eyes are for … looking out for speed signs and speedo on car.
  21. Hi .. the towbars are readily for the Gen3 RX450h that you have, it is the Gen4 (2015? on) that are dealer only and only certain Model levels are approved for towing on those. https://www.pfjones.co.uk/tow-bars.html I have never heard of a RX450 battery causing problems with being left for a couple of weeks, unlike the earlier RX400, which had a smaller battery fitted to them. Tyres .. mine were fitted with Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Weather and I replaced the front two over a year ago and they don't appear to have worn much in over 12,000 miles.
  22. I have not had an RX300 so cannot compare but I have had my RX450 over a year and a half now and average just under 30mpg for mixed driving. Can get it up to over 35mpg on the motorways and a steady journey but if the road clears the mpg goes down a bit (wont say why ) The Satnav is full post code (don't know the RX300) - have had mine updated from the original 2011 to 2017 maps. Very comfortable on any journey.
  23. The only thing I do is make sure its locked and keep the keys well away from the front of the house so they cannot use the signal boosters to get in and start it. Two cars ago I had a Range Rover P38 … I was hoping that someone would pinch that, unfortunately they did not … my biggest concern about anyone stealing that was them bringing it back when they found out how unreliable they were.
  24. I bought a 2011 RX450h a year gone Oct. It saw a Lexus dealer with the month .. to get the SAT NAV updated. When I got it I discovered the previous owner had missed getting the spark plug change at 60,00 miles Both it and the services have been done, in my ownership, by a local garage near to where I work .. the owner of the garage owns a Merc hybrid. The only thing it has needed apart from that is two new front tyres and the bracket for the height sensor for the headlight adjustment welding (fitted to the rear right suspension) I get an average of around 30mpg .. driving it on mixed roads … errr .. enthusiastically. Have had around 35 mpg or more on a long steady journey on the motorway.
  25. I usually get an average of around 30mpg with a mixture of roads but I like driving it not toodling around. On a long journey I have got that up to around 34mpg on average when on holidays. On monday, after filling up, I decided to see what I could get on the journey to work and got an average of 44mpg following a lorry all the way up the motorway to work (around 17 miles) but it was boring as hell doing that .. average back to around 30mpg now.
