NX Three likes/dislikes
First_Lexus replied to Ian J. Parsley's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
I don't have Premium nav Ian but the process seems to be the same. Fiddly but sure I'll find what I need when I've got more time to play at the weekend. Not an attempt at a thread hijack, but on a more general note I lament the loss of multi-CD players in cars now. As somebody who doesn't have any kind of downloaded music, it's a real pain for me. Mind you, I still have and use a cassette deck as part of my home separates system... -
NX Three likes/dislikes

Having now had my NX Sport for just over a day after years with Honda (the last two being CRVs)... Likes - interior quality. I thought Honda were good. This is a different level. - a bonnet held up by gas struts rather than a manual stay. A small point but it screams attention to detail and quality. - how quiet and smooth it is. Almost spooky, even at 70 on the motorway. Dislikes - as others have said, a nav system that doesn't drop the radio volume when giving commands (although I love the standard nav, it's far more modern than my previous Honda) - the lack of an auto dimming rear view mirror. Astonishing on a £35k list price car imho. - the dab radio can't find a tenth of the stations that my last two Hondas could. Weird... So far, so very impressed. Which is why I chose it... -

New owner questions

I can confirm that my NX Sport doesn't have the dipping function. However, by simply moving the mirror down a touch I can still see the passenger side as I need to AND I can see the kerb/parking space lines when reversing. Turns out I never needed the auto dipping in the first place...- 19 replies

New owner questions
First_Lexus replied to First_Lexus's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Interesting. I find it surprising that what some manufacturers fit as standard - none of my Hondas had memory seats but all had the mirror tilt function - others don't. Ho hum, hardly a show stopper, especially with the amazing discounts Lexus are giving on the Sport models! I was also told that the parking pack had the same functionality as that fitted to the Luxury grade, which is true to a point...again, discounts hard to come by on a Luxury but thousands of pounds on a Sport, so do I care? Nope... Especially given the quality and drive of the NX. What an interior...just wonderful. Thanks @rayaans much appreciated.- 19 replies

New owner questions
First_Lexus replied to First_Lexus's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
It's an NX Sport in Mercury Grey. I thought I'd tried selecting the passenger side on the selector switch - that was how the Honda worked too - but will have another look in the morning. Of course, it may just be that the Lexus NX doesn't have this functionality. If anybody knows for sure I'd be grateful.- 19 replies

Hi all. Picked up my new NX Sport today - pics in my intro thread. Massively impressed with Lexus so far having come from years with Honda. The quality and the smoothness/quietness of the drive is amazing. Having searched the NX forum and looked at the user manual, I have a couple of questions that I hope you can help me with. 1. Is there a way to get the passenger door mirror to tilt downwards when reverse is selected? I've had this on my last three Hondas and it is very useful. Can the NX do the same? 2. I have the 'parking pack' fitted i.e. Front and rear sensors. The user manual shows that you can see the distance - which sensor is closest to the obstacle - in the display but I can't seem to find it. I hear the beeps, but have no display (although the rear camera works). What am I missing? 3. I've asked a question about the DAB on another thread, but for those only looking at this thread, how do I get the DAB to select from the various available transmitters? I can only seem to search on one, which gives a very limited range of stations. How do I find the rest? thanks in advance...Ed

Having just got my NX Sport, I can only add my difference of opinion with the OP on the standard nav. It is light years ahead of the Honda system I had in my 2015 CRV, and I'm really impressed. Granted, I'm no great lover of technology but this system is easy to use and with good graphics compared with my previous experience. Jolly good. Telephone pairing and use is also excellent compared to my Honda. Jolly good again. I tried out the system in the new MINI Countryman before I chose the NX, and my assumption is that it is similar to that in new BMWs. If that the case then I'm glad I didn't buy one, as I found it stupidly complex and hard to use. Aren't different opinions fascinating? So far I can't work out the DAB as it doesn't seem to find many stations. As far as I can tell it is only looking at one receiver where the Honda gave loads of options. How to I find those? I didn't get a separate navigation manual either - should I have done?

Finally picked up my new NX this afternoon. The side protectors are still on order, so will be fitted at some point over the next couple of weeks. Rob at Lexus Swindon has been excellent all the way through the buying process, and barring a small scuff to one of the interior trims (lower door) the car is beautifully presented. There are some small things I'll miss from my Honda - I personally find Lexus standard specification a bit odd, but having been with Honda for years maybe that's no surprise. No auto dimming rear view mirror, lumbar on the front seats and a navigation system that doesn't drop the volume of the radio when giving instructions are odd exclusions for a car costing £30k plus IMHO, although the quiet drive, general quality and things like the collision detection and radar cruise control all make up for that. One thing i know I'll miss is the passenger mirror doesn't seem to dip when you select reverse, unless I'm missing something? Many happy and smooth miles ahead of me and my Lexus I hope...sure I'll have questions, will ask them in the NX section as and when they crop up. Now, I'm off to play...

The styling on the latest Volvos doesn't do much for me. This and the new XC60 are very generic. Jaguar SUV at the front, Qashqai from the side profile, and Renault Kadjur at the back. Overall it could be a Seat or a VW or any other Eurobox. It's a shame, but it will doubtless be a fine car to sit in and drive.

^^ Seems pretty straight forward to me, just choose the model you are interested in from the forum list. Not sure how it could be any more 'user friendly.' Anyway, I have a collection date for my new NX. Tuesday 26th is Lexus-day...

Two weeks after ordering, and for a car in stock in Bristol, and I don't have a delivery date yet. Lexus Swindon have kept me informed - the delay is down to Lexus needing to fit the parking pack before they will release the car to the dealer - and the latest is that the dealer will get the car on 21st September. Swindon then need to PDI the car and fit the protection pack and the side protectors, so I guess w/c 25th is the date for collection. I'll post a picture or two in the NX area of the forum when I finally get it. CVTs don't worry me at all. I've got a 2004 MINI in the garage - that I've owned from new - with a CVT. I get very frustrated with the motoring press and their (seemingly) deliberate attempts to convince readers that CVT is hopeless, largely because their testers don't know how to drive them properly. Ho hum. I only drive automatic and have done since 1988, and having owned and driven all sorts of transmissions over that time, the only ones I actively avoid are 'double-clutch' set ups, as I've never found one that doesn't constantly hunt around for the right gear or delays initial movement - which can be dangerous at a busy junction. VAG are the worst imho - just hopeless - in the end the one I had went bang (literally) on the outside lane of the M1 without warning at 40k miles, which I then found out happens more than you'd like to believe! That was when I moved to Honda and they haven't caused me any issues at all. Good cars, well engineered, comfortable and reliable - but they have lost their way over the past few years. I'm looking forward to Lexus ownership, that's for sure. My requirements of petrol/auto/4WD/Japanese meant that my shortlist was quite short. Add to that I don't like leather upholstery. I started looking at the NX Luxury, but there was no ability to delete leather. Then I looked at the F-Sport but the best deals were available - through CarWow - on the Sport with 'man made' leather so that's what I gone for.

Lexus Paint Protector

Bilt-Hamber Autobalm also sheets. I haven't used it for a few years, but it used to be quite tricky to apply and remove. The trick was to hardly use any as I remember.- 42 replies

Lexus Paint Protector
First_Lexus replied to NXnoob's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
^^ The same happened to me. As a committed (OCD? Where? ) detailer I've always steered clear of these 'Emperor's new clothes' type wonder treatments, but as it is included with my new NX I'll be interested to see how well it has been done. Once I get the car and assess the condition of the new paintwork I'll decide on a regime from the products in my arsenal, but likely to be clayed using Bilt-Hamber, de-contaminated with CarPro TRIX, prepared with Dodo Lime Prime, perhaps some Megs Pro Mirror Glaze if I'm feeling fit and then topped off with CarPro ReLoad Sealant and then likely some Swissvax Best of Show on top, or possibly one of my Dodo soft waxes. Wheels will be cleaned with Bilt-Hamber Auto Wheel and then finished with Bouncers Looking Sweet. Exterior plastics I use Chemical Guys Natural Look trim dressing. Once I've got good protection on there I can keep it going through the Winter with one of my quick retailers, probably Dodo Red Mist or Auto Perfection Clarity. Wish me luck...my arms are going to need it after that lot.- 42 replies

^^ Similar for me. Having just ordered an NX300h and being an active member on a Honda forum, I was just looking around for somewhere similar that seemed useful and friendly...and here I am. I won't use Google though. I used Bing.

Good afternoon all, I've just ordered my first Lexus - an NX300h Sport in Mercury Grey with the parking and protection packs - after a good few years with Honda. I'm currently a moderator over on the HondaKarma forum, and the move away from a brand I've had for quite some time and one that I have a great respect for has been a difficult decision. Why an NX300h? Well, I only buy from Japanese manufacturers as I value the build quality and reliability after some bad experiences a few years ago with overpriced German rubbish - don't get me started on the VAG DSG gearbox! I looked at a new CR-V to replace my current CR-V, but to be frank I think it is a little out-dated now especially when compared to the Lexus. I like the way the NX looks, I like the interior quality and I liked the drive - in the end it was an easier decision than I expected. There were two deciding factors - one positive reason for buying and one negative. The positive was the deal and service from Lexus Swindon which has been simply excellent. The negative was that Honda have what they call 'Connect' as their latest 'app' based satnav and audio system, and IMHO it is hopeless. I'm not into tech, and just want stuff that is simple to use - and the Lexus standard system reminds me of the system in my current CR-V, and that was a real positive. I'm hoping to be an active member here, and looking forward to getting to know you all. I should pick up the car in a couple of weeks.
