Driving in traffic / Waiting at lights
C.B replied to C.B's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
I had also noticed the revs sit lower in drive than they do in neutral, I also noticed the car likes a drink when sat in traffic so this was a factor in my reasoning of maybe leaving it in D. Yet if its trying to move the car is that not using more fuel than idling even if the revs are lower. Guess I just need to get used to using the handbrake, I have never had a foot operated one before and its just not second nature to me to release it at the moment. Ideally I would like to leave it in D as for me an auto shouldn't need user input other than reverse. But I dont think I am comfortable with the pressure this will put on the handbrake. Anyone know what the user manual says? -
There are some roadworks on my commute to work at the moment, and this got me thinking about how to drive the car in heavy stop start traffic or indeed when queuing at a set of lights for a long period of time (the roadworks are on a 4 light system) I would like to know what people do and also what is the official line from Lexus? My only other previous auto had a automatic handbrake which I could engage, leave in drive, and then would release automatically when I pressed the accelerator. However footbrake on the F is clearly more old fashioned than that. Do people put their car in neutral and apply the handbrake if sitting for any length of time? I recall my driving instructor saying 'handbrake neutral' every time we came to a stop all those years ago so I guess this is the correct approach, I just find the brake a bit of a faff to release. Am I doing the car any harm sitting holding it on the brake whilst in Drive? It certainly feels like it wants to be moving doing this and potentially putting unnecessary strain on a component somewhere either brakes or drivetrain.

Thanks gents, Just looked at the last service receipt and looks like the dealer used shell helix.

Are the F's known to use much oil? I know its 5W-30 but what brand do the dealers use as I always like to have some in the car to top up with if needed. Has anyone used the Fuchs Titan Race R in one and thought it made any difference?

Up until this point mainly from reading this forum I have had the impression the Hayward and Scott exhaust was without compromise. Sounds great, well made, looks OEM for those who dont like the idea of the fake tailpipes and is available with and without X pipe depending on your volume preference. The only real issue being the cost. What do people feel the compromise is with it?

Few ISF's I am going to go and see this weekend

Here she is, doesn't look to shabby considering she did 250 miles in torrential rain. Hopefully get some decent weather over the weekend to go for a bit of a run. (That's my work not my house btw!!) -

Wednesday I hope Mike, my first insurance check got lost in the post so it's been quite a frustrating wait!! However I will then be doing 200 miles in it so it will be the weekend once it's had a proper bath before any pics go up. i will be machine polishing it myself then off to a detailer for a ceramic coating, it needs to be applied by a pro to keep the 5 year guarantee. -
Scary how fast this is stolen.

I originally started looking for an 8v rs3, two months on the Audi forum and an insurance quote put death to that! Someone breaks into my house where my child and wife are sleeping due to my choice of car knowing it might happen I’d struggle to forgive myself. -
ISF Spotted Pistonheads
C.B replied to Big Rat's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Same old PistonHeads. People spurting things they have heard or read as fact having never driven the car, acting like they are driving gods on track every week when they probably drive a ‘msport’ or ‘amg’ trim level at best and might have been karting once. Shame as some really knowledgeable guys on there but they seem to be giving up the fight. Clearly more to owning cars like this than which is quickest around a track when driven by a pro. Still won’t do the prices any harm as the article is good. -

After driving a few I couldn't tell much difference between the suspension on the later models and certainly couldn't get into a situation where I could tell the difference between the ediff and a LSD on a test drive. I wont be driving hard in the wet or tracking the car so it wasnt essential for me. The condition, mileage and history of the car were the main factors and this ticked all the boxes. You pays your money and makes your choice, its not like there are lots for sale and I think anything around the 20k mark without mega miles is hitting the bottom of its depreciation curve. Good luck with the search. -

My hand was forced really as my car was written off so I didn't have the luxury of waiting. They had dropped it a further 500 the morning we went to see it so I'm pretty happy with what I paid In the end as I wanted one with warranty. Have you been to see the back 11 plate? -
Try capitalcarfinance or broker4cars they both do PCP on used cars at better rates than a dealership would ever offer you. The only restriction is you need to buy the car from a FCA registered dealer I believe, but even that may have been relaxed now.

Cars were a little chalk and cheese, Jag very modern, rode beautifully even on 20" wheels with the adaptive suspension and the engine is the best sounding and responsive forced induction v6 on the market imo. Then there's the ISF, well that's the car that will be sitting in my drive in a weeks time 😁 felt about 10 times more special. Bought the silver 09 plate 32k miles with 3 years of Lexus warranty. -
Hi, If I buy a pre 2010 ISF where do I stand on trying to get music to play from my phone? Is there a way to get a cable either OEM or aftermarket that connects an aux input to the head unit? Assuming it doesnt have one standard? Since i know they wont have DAB and all I listen to is that or spotify, I am looking for a solution other than the second screen I have seen which isnt OEM enough for my liking right now, but I am not ruling out. Cheers

The wife wont be an issue other than if you dont find testing driving lots of cars interesting (and she wont drive them, she has to build up to that slowly once I buy one) then its just a long tiring road trip of a weekend. She gave up long ago on convincing me not to 'waste money on cars'. Being honest the silver one at hedge end looks a better deal, it has less mileage, is cheaper and neither are a face lift. I know the history can not be vouched for in the same way but money also talks and I want something I will lose as little money as possible on over the next 3 years. Personally I would prefer a black one but will ultimately buy the one I think is the best car, I am not against silver. -

Cheers Due to poorly child last weekend and a few dealers not wanting to sell me cars, (we are sorry if you want a well looked after car this one isnt for you?!?!) my road trip has been postponed to tomorrow. Might seem slightly bizarre but the other car I am considering is a jag XE S. A weekend of tyre kicking and a stop over in a second rate hotel is on the cards, my idea of heaven and the wifes idea of hell, but she insists she is involved. -
Hi Agreed a settlement with the third party insurance so I am doing a bit of a tour of the country over the weekend and considering looking at the following cars as part of my travels. If anyone knows the history / been and tyre kicked them already any info would be appreciated. 1. Black 09 plate 53k https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201801152770099?logcode=visc&fromSA=true 2. Silver 09 plate 32k https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201712111983440?logcode=visc&fromSA=true 3. Potential New Owner - Few Q's
C.B replied to C.B's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Thanks fellas always gives you a nice sense of securityif you find the previous owner of a car and they have nothing but praise for it! Due to the year it will have DAB that was just in case I find myself buying a pre 2010 car. Not aware of the infinity back boxes and cant see much on youtube can anyone point me in the direction of a vid? -
Hi I have been lurking for a while as I quite fancied a ISF as my next car down the line. Well someone pulled out on me last week and I'm 90% sure its a write off so it seems I'm in the market for a new car sooner than I expected. I drove the one in blackburn at the weekend and really like the driving experience and theatre of it. Didnt feel as old fashioned as I thought it might, either that or I was so intoxicated by the noise I noticed nothing else. I doubt I will buy that car ideally looking for something a bit newer and lower mileage but I have a few questions to help me decide this. 1. Can I do anything to retrofit DAB? This is about the only item the pre facelifts are missing for me. 2. To what age will lexus warranty the car and whats the price? I have read 10 and 12 years in different places and since I would likely warranty it for the approx 3 years I will be looking to keep it this makes a difference. 3. Any previous owners of KM11EFO on here? Looks like its due in stock at lexus coventry soon and seems to tick all my boxes Thanks

Potential New Owner - Few Questions
C.B replied to C.B's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Thanks fellas, looked to be going off topic there but you managed to bring it back :) I have been members of smaller forums before so I know what its like! I am keen does anyone know anything about the silver one for sale on autotrader at the mo for £15k? I was looking for a facelift initially but price seems good and the condition and history are spot on. Is the owner on here by any chance? Had a slight setback in that I had an offer on my car from a private dealer 3 months and 2k miles ago which has somehow reduced by £2000 in that time, so might have to sell private which is a pain at this price point as not many people buy cash and I dont exactly offer PCP! No one got an answer on the rear arches being flared or not? I'm in the northwest by the way -
Potential New Owner - Few Questions
C.B replied to C.B's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Thanks Marcus How often do the spark plugs need changing? Are there many specialists who work on these cars or does everyone tend to go main dealer? As a rule I would usually use a specialist. Regarding the rear arches, I was meaning more flared than the normal IS models, like the M3 and C63 with a bespoke shell. Its something I need to tick off the ownership list at some point! What are peoples thoughts on the diff for fast road driving? I wont track the car and although I have had high powered cars before they have always been AWD so I will certainly be taking it easy to start with. Is this necessary for my enjoyment of the car on the road? I wont be power sliding it around bends. One other I read a review of the RCF which stated the end of 3rd gear is north of 90mph is that the case with the ISF? -
Hi Currently have a S5 sportback but am considering a change to a ISF before something goes wrong with it and have a few questions Gearbox - When in manual mode does the gearbox still kick down if you stamp on the loud pedal? STronic does this and it drives me nuts, it will do even more when I want to listen to the engine through the rev range as I would in the ISF. If it does have this 'feature' can it be mapped out by a specialist? MPG - I know I know sorry but I currently get 23mpg which equates to about 280 miles before tank (also 65 litre) so I am just wondering if people are getting about the same, everything I read says it should be. Servicing - How does the servicing work (interim / major etc) and is there any major ones to watch out for? Assume its chain driven? Arches - Not driven or seen one in the flesh yet (tried to on sunday but the private dealer wasnt open sundays wtf) are the rear arches flared or is it just the fronts with the fenders?

Not bad for a 5 litre v8

220 Miles for 53 litres (11.6 gallons) is pretty much bang on 19mpg
