  1. https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=5943783&cc=1443562&jsn=10500 Heard good things about this place....they seem to have a pretty good breakdown of parts but they are in the States!!
  2. Probably £200!! It's a nightmare when trying to find the correct parts for any car. Does the parts website show any difference picture wise?
  3. Try having a look on here for your car and see what the exhaust part number is and that may help. I have a is250 2007 and it has a part number of 17430-31490 for that part. Might help you narrow it down a bit especially if you get the Lexus part number http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/
  4. Been following this thread with interest.... I would ask......what vehicle hit which vehicle? Ie Did the van hit the car side on or did the car hit the van side on etc. In other words which vehicle was actually hit? If the car was already negotiating the roundabout and the van hit it then I would suggest van at fault. If the other way around then car at fault.
  5. http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/ Try here....create account, sign in and load in the make, model of car.....if u know VIN even better.
  6. Go look at these guys... https://www.bmcspecialistcars.co.uk/ I was looking for a "nice" car....Honda Accord, Lexus IS250 or similar, Honda Legend etc. These guys do Youtube vids as well. They do good cars at good prices. I test drove a 2.4 Accord, Legend, etc and bought an IS250. They have a couple of very nice, low mileage IS250s in just now. Just about doable for you to get there and back in a day and have a good test drive of a Legend, IS250, Accord to see which one you like.

  8. Excellent. I need to replace the plastic screen that sits in front of the dials. Do you reckon it would be possible to remove that cowling piece, which I now see has the plastic screen as part of it, without taking out the trim at the bottom? Can't quite see if the two screws that hold the cowling in place are accessible without removing the trim. Good video though and thanks.
  9. Anyone else out there done anything....can't believe only 2/3 people have had to replace their exhaust and cannot think that most have gone OEM for the price. The drone problem worries me but then again so does having to replace another mild steel exhaust section a couple of years down the line if the second hand parts I get get rusted through again.
  10. Been looking at the rear section bit but probably going to get a cat back stainless steel set up and make sure I get the quietest noise possible. I have already purchased a second hand center section and will keep that in case the stainless steel version is too loud so all I would have to buy is the rear section.
  11. Sounds like good advice but with a hole in the centre section growing bigger daily and it now sounds like a tractor so have no baseline to measure a new stainless build against!! Beginning to agree with the cat back idea...leave sensors and cats in place and replace everything else behind. Should be the simplest way of doing it. Can probably live with a slightly louder exhaust but if stainless used but that should be the exhaust sorted for the life of the car. Another second hand rear exhaust section (maybe 8/9 years old) could easily rust and deteriorate and then I'm back to square one.
  12. IS 250 that I had just bought needs a new middle and rear section of exhaust. Total price for a new Lexus exhaust, from engine to rear, is about 3k. Ha ha. Garage I bought the car from gave 2 months warranty but do not, and I agree, want to put a £3k exhaust on a car that didn't cost that much more. They have offered a contribution to a new centre and rear section. I want to do it in stainless steel as the quotes I have had are around £700 and the garage are happy to cough up £600. Question is this.....the centre section has two sensors and I suspect two cats and one stainless steel company have said they would remove that those and just put straight pipes in there. Another company said they'd leave those in and do what I surmise is a cat back system. I am presuming taking the two sensors out, which maybe a problem anyway, and the two cats will probably affect the running of the car and possibly give me engine management light problems which I am keen to avoid. What is everyone's recommendations? Thanks
  13. My IS250 going into the garage for airbag recall on 31st. No Lexus dealer in Aberdeen....so it's into Toyota garage....bet loaner is an Aygo..lol. Getting an exhaust problem (split seal) checked as well and they said we will charge £99 if it turns out not to be under warranty....I said well I ain't paying that.....supose it is an Arnold Clark Toyota dealership but c'mon boys. Doubt I will get anything but will let you all know.
  14. How hard is it to remove and replace the perspex covering the dials on an IS250? Mine has splashes of some sort on the perspex and keen to replace with a new one. Thanks.
  15. Middle section of exhaust puffing and hitting spar across exhaust channel. Rest of exhaust out back looks pretty ropey as well so going to get a price for a new stainless steel one on Wednesday. Tend to keep my cars for long time, 5/6 years, and hence makes sense and also trying to get Kwik Fit, or the like, to fit a mild steel exhaust would be pointless and probably as expensive as a stainless steel one. Would be a lifetime warranty as well. Anyone done similar and got a price indication?
  16. Will order - thanks. Just done my wife's Toyota Corolla T Sport - new discs, pads, slider pins and wish I'd had this stuff then!
  17. Don't need the parts yet but keen to order them all.... What do I need to buy for all fronts and rears...sliding pins, pin boot kits etc? Going to order from RockAuto. What is best grease to use on slider pins as well? Thanks
  18. So....another interesting dilemma. There is not a Lexus dealer in Aberdeen. It seems to be you go to the Toyota dealer to get all your work done. There is absolutely no Lexus branding to differentiate the dealership. That poses more questions than answers. Will it actually be Lexus mechanics doing the work or upskilled Toyota ones? Will I get a Toyota loan car when my Lexus is in? There were no Lexus cars in the forecourt. Went there today and asked how do I fill in the details for a Lexus warrnty and the lady at reception did not have a clue. Mmmmmmm.
  19. Are ALL Lexus parts expensive? Looking for a passenger wiper arm for my IS 250 as the existing one has some flaking and white rust (or similar) on it. Gone to a couple of spares suppliers and getting quoted £35 and £42. What!!! Any where else to look or go to? Probably take it off sand it down and repaint. Thanks
  20. I did not purchase the warranty from the sales garage but will be calling Lexus tomorrow to ask them to do their once over and then discuss their warranty. Total over two years works out at £447 a year which is actually cheaper that the full years warranty from the sales garage. The car is just under 10 years old so will be getting them to check it out asap. Car is lovely to drive, but then all you guys knew that, and can shift it's boondocks when required. Actually alarmingly so and hence will have to watch how I go. A few little scratches here and there but nothing major. Need to get a passenger wiper arm as the existing one has lost some of it's black finish. Has a set of Lexus mats (how much new!!?); added a bluetooth unit which plugs into AUX socket in arm rest and that works great. Taken out the ash tray and cigarette light and and will stash keys in there and put in a USB charger instead of the lighter. Have also installed a double USB charger in the arm rest socket.
  21. Spark plugs have been done. How often are they meant to be done?
  22. Just bought a second hand IS250 from the Arnold Clark garage in Edinburgh. Picked it up yesterday. 65k miles, very good nick, Brechin blue is the colour. Cloth trim seats rather than leather....was having trouble finding a leather clad model anywhere near Aberdeen that did not have excessive wear on the driver's bolster. Does not have all the gadgets (ie touch screen sat nav, heated seats, electric adjustment etc) but has a glorious 2.4ltre V6 petrol engine that did 40mpg from Falkirk to Aberdeen. Happy driver for the price I paid. Also took out a 2 year servicing and MOT plan for £109 due to getting mates rates (50% off) but declined their offer of an extra 10 month warranty for £297 which even with 50% off makes it more expensive that the Lexus one! Here's hoping nothing goes wrong. Drives very well. From about 50mph to a higher number it just pulls like a train....had an old style Audi A6 with V6 petrol engine and it was similar...fast, quiet and nice to drive. Wife and daughter both impressed with it's speed, quietness and sound system.
  23. Have managed to get a 50% reduction on 2 year service plan and warranty from the garage due to friends and family discount.....so have a cost of around £350 for a two year service plan (two services and two MOTs) and a two year warranty. Just gives me a wee bit of peace of mind. Will get the spark plugs change methinks regardless. Thanks
