  1. I did not know that. Probably because it's rear wheel drive. Bloody death traps they are.
  2. Regardless, MK Lexus are pulling your leg.
  3. On a previous car I had some cheap sensors fitted cheaply. They beeped when it was raining I'd be tempted to ask around and get quality non-OEM fitted by a decent local car audio place. The sort of place that fit high end audio for young men with disposable income. I don't think I'd use someone who comes to you and tries to take your bumper off on the drive. I'd also ring a dealer somewhere away from MK and ask for another quote to see if they are taking the mickey. Different car but Lexus Sheffield quoted me £300 fitted for genuine Lexus sensors on my 1st gen IS. :edit: Just read this. Top of page 2. Could just be parts rather than fitted but that's a lot of labour if it is
  4. I interpreted it that way too. I've tried a few times to touch up a nice scratch someone left down the osr door rubbing/bump strip but it flakes off every time. Possibly due to it being plastic? Anyway, apparently you can buy them pre-done but £££ so I find a black Sharpie does the job
  5. Benefit In Kind. Quoted For Emphasis.
  6. VED is £535 I don't care how safe it is, I'm not paying that. A Volvo?
  7. Will I remember or will I forget? Round and round she goes, and where she stops nobody knows. A little bit of excitement on the morning commute. Leave it in D, it's fine. Winter tyres work well if you rely on your car in bad weather. Using V-Power is largely an affectation.
  8. I like to flick mine into reverse just to keep the person behind on their toes.
  9. They are. And though they appear to be well made they're well made in terms of quality material, fit and finish rather than able to drive to the moon and back with little complaint. Active safety measures rather than steel girder solidity seems to be the order of the day too. An interesting statistic I came across last week was that nobody has ever died in an XC90 in the UK since the model was introduced in 2002. We're about to get rid of our XC90 family bus and that's a real pause for thought. Anyway, sorry. Thread hijack.
  10. So if your sunglasses are too dark (ie designed for some other use) you shouldn't drive in them? That's just common sense surely?
  11. Can't help you with genuine but I've used carmats.co.uk a few times and always thought they were more than acceptable. http://www.carmats.co.uk/lexus-car-mats/is200/lexus-is200-1999-to-2005-mats.html
  12. Could the last few contributors to this thread give the common sense a well earned rest and can we please get back on topic re: which models are quickest away from the traffic lights in a 30 mph urban setting.
  13. Hi Lee, Carla! Welcome on board. Great car. You'll love it. And 725 quid is a steal!
  14. Congratulations and welcome. Post up those pictures! eBay is probably your best bet for the centres. Quite often blank but you can get Lexus/whatever decals for them.
  15. I started roundly ignoring car reviewers a few years ago. If not ignoring then at least just paying attention to the facts rather than the opinion. Keep in mind that most reviews are based on a few hours at most with a car. This largely explains their obsession with how "awful" CVT boxes are. Go and look up some Subaru test drives, you wonder how they ever manage to sell any. And you're in the wrong section
  16. Do we have a popcorn smiley? Anyone? I'm looking for a popcorn smiley...
  17. Agreed. Bought my last 3 cars in exactly this way. And in one case when I asked for the warts and all description he described it as "a good 10 yard car". Something that wasn't evident from the Autotrader ad. He was honest and I avoided a 2-3 hour train journey. @ the OP. Surely there's a Lexus dealer near you? Or a trader selling an IS? You're on Merseyside not the Scottish Highlands.
  18. It's as complicated as you want to make it. Or it's as complicated as some people on the internet want to make it. The older and more cynical I get I tend to go with the latter.
  19. Just dug out the paperwork on mine. It's a "Lexus 5 Year Plus Extended Warranty."
  20. Confused by all this talk of warranties. I assumed any used Lexus bought through their dealer network came with one? My IS300 was bought from Lexus Sheffield last year with a full year's warranty. The car was registered December 2002 and had 54k on the clock.
