  1. Any of these water ingress problems with the RX300 do you know?
  2. Well the one that's caught my eye is overdue the cambelt assuming it's every ten years. And I thought it was the 2JZ like my IS but it's not is it?
  3. Goodness me. A low mileage Sportcross. You have the Lexus equivalent of unicorn poo! Love to see some more pictures.
  4. I'm torn Love my IS but it's just not that practical. At least my IS would be going to a good home though. My dad wants it
  5. The diamond cut finish on newer cars is quite a thing at the moment isn't it? And almost without exception look terrible after a couple of years. My dad's XC60 is just the same.
  6. Yes, the five spoke ones that everyone seems to have. No diamond cut for me just shot blasted and powder coated silver. They look great and all for £180
  7. Picked up the refurb'ed wheels today too Glyn. They look lovely! Looks like the winters will be coming off again
  8. Thanks sorcerer. I'd seen a few comments on here regarding the air suspension so duly noted! And I know they're thirsty but I don't do many miles. 5-6k per year. And my IS isn't exactly economical.
  9. Might be making a change from my '02 IS300 to an RX300. I stress might! If I do I'll be looking for something in a similar vein - low mileage, low owners, Lexus history. A lovely one owner, retired couple car would be ideal I assume reliability is on a par with the IS of the same era but is there anything in particular I should be looking at?
  10. Interesting. I did not know that. Something else to consider if I get itchy feet with my IS300. If you're only doing low miles (thinking about cost) could you just run on V Power or whatever? That's what mine gets. Mine's averaged about 3600 per year since 2002.
  11. On my 1st gen IS I use it every few months, convince myself I'm going to break something and then turn it off again
  12. I think you've pretty much covered all the bases. I assume you've checked the MOT history and if it's showing the car as doing 2k miles per year I'd say that's enough to keep everything ticking over. Belt or chain on these engines? I don't know (different car) but again I assume you've seen to that if it's needed.
  13. It took Gary at Lexus Sheffield a while to track them down apparently. (If anyone knows him you'll know this will have thrilled him ) I'd umm'd and arr'd for ages knowing the Lexus ones were near as damn it double the price but in view of the car's complete Lexus history I didn't want to cheap out. While I was there I asked about extending the warranty for another year after August but it looks like it's a no as the car is approaching 16 years old. The only thing under warranty will be the parking sensors
  14. I might be talking out of the back of my neck here because I own a much older IS but Lexus do seem to be set up for comfort and if your heart is set on the 18s I suppose standard suspension would be a better idea. Regardless, I'd say that whatever you go for won't be as crashy as the German marques.
  15. Not quite done but getting done. New OEM parking sensors getting fitted by Lexus Sheffield and wheels being refurbished as I type this. Both jobs should be done by the end of today so I'll post up some pics. In the coming days (hopefully) I'm also getting the shopping trolley scrape seen to and some other bits of bodywork tidied up. Lexus Sheffield were happy to recommend a bodyshop for these jobs so well done them.
  16. I'd also suggest that it would be you rather than your passengers who would quickly tire of 18s and "sport" suspension. Welcome btw
  17. M badges on non-M (ie M3, M5) BMWs used to be an excellent way of identifying a certain type of individual. It was even discussed at length on the BMW forums and said individuals were singled out for ridicule by owners of regular SEs and M Sports who thought it was all a bit silly. Then BMW started fitting them at the factory and the world burned. Now you have to ask BMW not to add them when you order a new car...
  18. There's another one in June! Yay!
  19. Bugger. I'd have liked to have gone to this. Too late to get my chitty signed now
